JRmommy
The grandparents are asking for Christmas lists, so I thought I'd ask the Hive for some ideas. Would love your favorite educational toy ideas for a 4 year old boy. A little about him - loves to read (1st/2nd grade level), is learning addition and subtraction, loves to draw, loves building, loves music/dancing, etc. Thank you! Erica in OR
In our house, we've liked geoboards, simple puzzles, modeling clay, pattern blocks with a book of picture shapes/scenes to fill in with the blocks... Erica in OR
smrtmama
I love any of the games from Gamewright. They have a great 3+ selection, the games aren't expensive, and we've loved every one we've played.
JRmommy
Such great ideas! I've never heard of most of them. Keep 'em coming!
Momto5
I agree with the Wedgits suggestion. They are so much fun and are great for 4 year olds. If your son loves to draw, have you introduced him to watercolors? I recommend buying some nice watercolors (Prange is good but not very expensive) and some watercolor paper. I think having good paint and paper can make a real difference. My four year olds loved watercoloring. Hope this helps.
EppieJ
Legos, Tangrams, Draw.Write.Now series, Dover Fun Kits, Kid K'NEX, My Father's Dragon (series of 3 books - we just loved them), Kumon Activity books (they have mazes, etc for beginning skills work)

TheReader
We like almost anything by Melissa & Doug. Uno is good, dominoes, and virtually any board game with dice (monopoly jr, etc.) Eric Carle books (even though you say he's reading at a 1st/2nd grade level, these are so, so, so so good). Lego. wooden unit blocks. Lincoln logs, tinker toys, etc.
