Loose tooth

My 4.5 year old son has a loose tooth. I thought children lost their baby teeth sometime after age 6. Should I be concerned?

I don't think you should be concerned. I had two that starting losing their baby teeth at four.

Normal. My kids lost their first teeth at ages ranging from 4.5yo to 5.5yo. The neighbors, OTOH, didn't lose their first teeth until almost 8yo.

My dd5 lost her first tooth at 4.5 and another one a few months later.

Thanks. It is disconcerting to have a child running and screaming "Mommy, you have to brush my teeth right now! My teeth are rotting and are going to fall out. This one is loose."

I think it is fine. DD6 lost her first tooth around the same time she turned 5. I was a little shocked because I was thinking more around the 6-7 age.

My daughter is 5 and has lost SIX teeth already--and has all six replacement grownup teeth at least partway in, if not all the way in--with two more loose teeth already. She is driving the tooth fairy out of business!!!

 

As a side note, her dentist said if the baby's first teeth came in early, the child stands a good chance of losing the teeth early as well. Dd had baby teeth in at four months.

 

My child may be a freak of nature--but I'm guessing yours is just fine!

My daughter lost her first 2 teeth on her 5th birthday.

My oldest lost 2 teeth by his 5th bday. At 10, he's lost all his baby teeth. I only wish my youngest had it as easy as my oldest did. :(
