1cat2ferrets
a movie called "The boy in the striped pajamas." It's about the holocaust and was a very moving story. Just had to let everyone know in case anyone would like to rent it. Absolutely worth your time.
prairiegirl
I haven't seen the movie but I did read the book--very powerful!
danybug
I watched it a while back with my ds and it really disturbed us. It is a beautiful story, but still very upsetting for us. But I guess what story about the Holocaust doesn't.
susancollins
Would this movie be appropriate for children? I was thinking of watching it but I don’t know if I should wait until the children are asleep.

Heather in OK
It is NOT appropriate for young children. Older teens, yes. And it does not have a happy ending. I know the circumstances of that time period are not happy, but I wasn't expecting that ending.

I wasn't expecting it either. I probably cried for an hour or so after seeing that. :crying:
Pretty in Pink
This is a really good movie but not for kids. Older teens, yes, but not childern. The ending left me speechless and crying.
The Girls' Mom
Older teens recommendation here too. We let our 13 year old dd watch it, not knowing how disturbing the ending would be. She handled it ok, but was shaken by it (as would anyone watching it would be) It is a worthwhile watch though.
Perry
Would this movie be appropriate for children? I was thinking of watching it but I don’t know if I should wait until the children are asleep. It was required reading for my ps 7th grader. They watched the movie at school. She was very upset by it. I'm not especially pleased. wy_kid_wrangler04
We LOVE that movie. Makes me cry every time :crying:-- Have you read the book also?
wy_kid_wrangler04
Would this movie be appropriate for children? I was thinking of watching it but I don’t know if I should wait until the children are asleep. I feel differently about it being ok for children. My 6th grader and 2nd grader watched it. My 2nd grader asked questions, I answered. She liked it. We watched it with friends- that included a 3rd grader and a 4th grader also. They did fine with it. It is much more gentle than other movies. I recommend it, but not alone. You should be there to talk with them! Edited May 23, 2010 by wy_kid_wrangler04
fivetails
Would this movie be appropriate for children? I was thinking of watching it but I don’t know if I should wait until the children are asleep. That's the sort of question that is going to be answered differently by individual parents/families ~ dd13 and I watched together [she was 12 at the time] and she was fine with it....but I've heard from some *adults* who wished they'd never watched it. You would know your child(ren) better than any of us here.
