A few years ago, on the old board, someone (don't for the life of me recall who) referred to the WTM forums as the hive mind, and it stuck. As you post, you'll move up the bee ladder until you reach bee keeper (10,000 posts, I think?) and then, who knows what?

Queen Bee is at 750, I think. :001_smile: Until then, I am stuck being a royal larvae. Ewww. :tongue_smilie:

I know what they mean...

Under 10 posts- I'm considering homeschooling

11-40 posts- OMG! I'm homeschooling - is this legal?

41-100 posts - Why can't I find a math program we like?

101-160 posts- Is there a LA program out there that isn't so tedious?

161-200 posts - 100 EZ is NOT easy!

201-300 posts - I've had too much coffee.

301-400 - I've had WAY too much coffee.

401-500 - I've had WAY too much coffee, the doorbell's ringing, the baby's crying, the 1st grader smacked the 2nd grader, the phone's ringing and why isn't anyone working on their Map Skills workbooks?

:tongue_smilie: Sorry. Just had to clear that up.

Starbuck, you crack me up!

FWIW, I think the "hive" and "hive mind" references began on the old boards as a reference to the Borg collective from the Star Trek world. I guess the comparison to productive honeybees was more appropriate, and when the new board format was introduced a few years ago, the designations came with it.

Long-time folks, am I remembering that correctly?

Do you (or anyone else) know when the boards started?

Yes, this is correct. It's a Star Trek Next Generation reference.

I've been on these boards for just over 10 years now, and they existed before I joined......I'm just not sure how long they were there before I found them (days, weeks, months, years??), but it's been around for over 10 years.
