momto2Cs
I am putting together a summer read-aloud list for my (now) 1st an 3rd graders. I want to do one book from Ancient Egypt, as we have already studied it, so am trying to decide between Boy of the Pyramids and The Golden Goblet. Does anyone that has read one, or both, of these have any feedback? Thanks!
Lovedtodeath
Boy of the Pyramids :lurk5:This is a new one to me!
materursa
We read Boy of the Pyramids and my kids absolutely loved it! They were sad when we finished because then it was all over. I would absolutely recommend it! We haven't read The Golden Goblet though. -Amanda

Golden Goblet is a good one but has a more complicated plot.
Susie in MS
LOved GG! Hope to have BoP some day. Never read it though.
mrs.m
We are reading GG right now. My kids really enjoy it. But the description of Boy of the Pyramids looks good too. I'm going to add that one to our reading list.
PeterPan
The reading level on BoP is lower than GG. Your 3rd grader can probably read it for himself. Asked my dd, and she recommends you to the Good Times Travel Agency books and His Majesty, Queen Hatshepsut. She has read the latter about 15 times, she says. :) I liked Cat Mummies and found it a worthwhile read.
Daisy
Agreeing with PP. Boy of the Pyramids is an easy read. Your 3rd grader could read it independently. The Golden Goblet is the better written book. We read both this year and The Golden Goblet was the hands down favorite of us all.
