Parrothead
What do I do with it? Does it make food taste like coconut?
Corraleno
That depends a bit on the brand and the method of extraction. Some smell/taste pretty coconutty and some are more bland. I use it for almost everything, except pasta & salad dressing. I saute in it, bake with it, even put it in oatmeal and on toast. It's also a terrific skin moisturizer and hair conditioner. :) Jackie
astrid
POP POPCORN IN IT!!! Oh, it's DELICIOUS!!! :lurk5: astrid
amygabrielle
I use it for baking, and stir-fries. Works great in cookies and cakes. It will give the veggies a slight coconut flavor, but all in all it's yummy and healthy.
SonshineLearner
Popcorn and anything else that coconut flavor will compliment:-) Carrie
jillian
i use coconut oil pills in addition to my kelp to help my thyroid (borderline but not enough for a script). i have heard that it can make your stomach a bit upset so work up to using it as a main oil in your diet otherwise there could be some *unpleasant stinky side effects* but i never had issues with my pills and it really is an individual thing about the upset tummy. emeraldjoy
coconut oil is fun too. It has a lower melting point that you'd think and it is just plain cool...literally and figuratively. You can use it for deoderant. In Thailand a dear Karen (northern mountain tribe) man told us that for people who are really sick, dehydrated, or overheated the best thing to use is anything coconut. My favorite is grilled cheese and banana pancakes. Gosh it's expensive though.... e
SonshineLearner
I buy huge things of it... there are different "kinds" for different uses:-) You can mix it with different things for deodorant. I think we did Baking Soda, coconut oil... and something else:-) I rub it on my daugher's skin....etc... Carrie
Miss Peregrine
I eat my egg whites fried in it. Great for popping corn. Good on eczema.

SonshineLearner
Where do you buy coconut oil? I want to try some on DD's eczema. I have no idea if your daughter is ok with peanuts... but I always look to see that it's made in a nut free facility. (the first one I bought... oops) Also, just know that excema can be helped by putting Crisco on your daughter after a bath... (pat dry... put on Crisco.... let "sink in") Then... Coconut oil is good:-) Carrie:-) OH.. I buy it through Frontier Co-op and Azure Standard co-op. I buy it by the half gallon. You can also buy it... for more... at any Health Food Store:-)
Radish4ever
I've heard of folks using it as personal lubricant..... and as a cure to get rid of cradle cap... and as a dietary supplement as well
