Funniest HS Moments?

My DS4 and I were just rapping to the Vowel rhyme song in Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading. Had us laughing so hard. The other day DD9 applied Latin vowels to an English word--I'll post it when I can remember it...something about a rear-end...My husband nearly crashed the car he was laughing so hard.

Got a funny curriculum saying, or moment? How are you making it fun?

This one is not hilarious, but something funny my dd7 said the other day went like this:

We were on a field trip to a local history museum. They were having a "homeschool day," so everyone there that day was a homeschool family. They handed out a scavenger hunt to each family to answer questions from the musuem.

One room of the museum was set up as a one room school house, complete with old fashioned desks. The question for the room said, "How are these desks different from the school desks you use?" My dd answered, "Well, it is a desk, not a kitchen table."

Cracked me up!!

I was asking history questions out loud and my children were answering. My son yelled out an answer that was supposed to be Qin Shi Huang, but he was totally serious and yelled, "Ching Ding?" We all burst into laughter and it has become a family "funny." It is moments like that that make the day. :D

My daughter had recently had a "lesson" in how a public school day went (must stay in your seat, no talking, raise your hand, wait in line, etc) and was talking with a friend who is in PS. Her friend, very proudly, told her she was in "real school." Ariel, with a look of deepest sympathy, gave her a hug and said "I'm so sorry."

Oh my, I am wiping "tears" from my eyes. Your kids are adorable! My kids are asking me "What's going on mommy?" while I sit here and laugh. It's moments like these when I know I'm doing the most important thing in the world. My DH is talking about taking a second job so we can afford more HS stuff (like a microscope) and I just think I am so blessed to be doing this.

Heheh. I hope her mum doesn't hear about it. That'd go off like a bucket of prawns in the sun!

:D
