milovany
My dog-happy daughter is at the state fair this weekend, for 4-H, and we have her dog with us. I have a plate of scrambled eggs on the counter. Can 1 + 1 = 2 here? I know dogs can't have chocolate, but can they have eggs? (And if they can't can chickens? Oh, wait, that would be kind of weird wouldn't it?). Help me get my counter cleaned off please! :)
SonshineLearner
Yup... eggs are fine:-) I've given, scrambled, raw and boiled... with and without the shells. I wouldn't give eggs that had been on the counter ..say... overnight... Carrie:-)
hornblower
Yup... eggs are fine:-)I've given, scrambled, raw and boiled... with and without the shells. :iagree: I wouldn't give eggs that had been on the counter ..say... overnight... otoh, I would to my monsters. Only if I had an immuno compromised doggy would that give me pause. If it's a carb thing & it has mold, then I won't - mostly because I don't like giving carbs to dogs anyway but I think the molds growing on all those sugars would be a bad idea. I don't hesitate to give protein things that are 'off'. My malamute esp will eat all kinds of gross things - & if it's too old to eat, she rolls in it instead to put on the lovely aroma :D She gets very indignant when I wash her off, too ..... Dawn in OH
I feed scrambled eggs to my chickens all the time. They love them! That just seems SO wrong.
Dirtroad
Eggs are great for them. I grew up on a farm & my dad/granddad always said not to let dogs eat raw ones b/c they might start looking at the chicken nests are food sources! But the eggs wouldn't harm them. Our dogs love eggs and cheese & broccoli!;)

Carrie:-) Don't think it will hurt them.. they eat dead stuff! They have stronger stomachs than we do and I believe the acidity is higher. Paz
My dog loves eggs. Whenever I make them she comes running into the kitchen and will bark until I give in and feed her some. She also loves cantaloupe and carrots.
Karen in CO
My jack russell loves raw egg and will steal the eggs from the coop and hide them in the house. I suppose she plans to eat them later, or she doesn't exactly know how to get the egg out. Nothing like finding an egg under your desk or tucked behind the couch and wondering how long its been there.
Happy
Puppies learning to eat solids get soft scrambled eggs mixed with goat milk at this house.
LibraryLover
Yep on the shiny coats! Any cracked eggs we find in the barn and are not sure of the age go to our cats and dogs. We also give our chickens ground up eggs shells. It's good for them!
DarlaS
I cooked scrambled eggs for mine when she had medicine she had to eat to take. They had to be scrambled though. She won't eat the whites. :tongue_smilie:
