5sweeties
Dh loves to read to my son. They finished "Old Man and the Sea," one of dh's favorites, and now ds is begging for more adventure-type books. My ds is academically ahead of the norm, and loves a good plot, and something to really discuss. Thanks!

linders
My DH's favorite, read to the boys last year. I also second Jules Verne books - 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea especially. And what about Peter Pan (the original Barrie version)?
Kalypso
My boys loved Call it Courage (and still do.)
King Alfred Academy
Definitely the Jules Verne books plus Treasure Island, The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Swiss Family Robinson are a few you could try.
elizabeth
Thor Heyerdahl real sea adventure http://www.amazon.com/Kon-Tiki-Across-Pacific-Thor-Heyerdahl/dp/0671726528 My favorite grade school teacher read this to us along with Margaret Mead 's work on the Samoans. That dear friends was a teacher for the ages...She was from Alabama , a single woman who had studied anthropology and then decided she had to become a teacher. I loved everything about her. This is a wonderful book.

Guest Virginia Dawn
I agree. Kon-Tiki is absolutely fabulous. The Hobbit would be one of my choices too. How about My Side of the Mountain?
