  1. Thank you all you are such an awesome group of women. I am praying and praying everything is ok. I would appreciate any prayers. I go back on Monday so I will know more than. I am trying so hard not to focus on the bad.
  2. I am going to the Midwest Conference and I was going to have my HCG checked at a local hospital on Friday, my doctors told me I could wait till Monday. I am going to have my HCG levels checked then. I will keep you posted to let you know how it goes. I am just really anxious.
  3. I went to the doctor today, I have had some cramping. When they did the ultrasound the saw a sac with nothing in it. My cycles are often irratic at best. I am suppose to be 6 weeks 3 days. My HCG level was 7114. Am I just too early to see anything or could I have a pregnancy that is not developing. I have had a tough day.
  4. I sell about twenty items a month currently. I use to sell hundreds of items, it is time consuming. The pictures, packaging, and shipping took so much time. I used to sell on commission basis for other people on 55/45 cut after I sold my antique shop to supplement my husband’s income. You can make much more money than you would get at a yard sale. This is one of the upsides. I use Turbo Lister to list and upload my auctions. I also use selling manager to manage my listings. Ebay has recently reduced selling fees so that also makes it more profitable.
  5. I have been very tired lately and have been finding it hard to keep up, any suggestions or tips would be great! Thanks so much! Susan :001_smile:
  6. I was wondering how someone would go about doing the young explorers series. How do you break up the lessons and how long does each book take. I have just started using the Exploring Creation with Botany, I am doing a co-op with another family who has 1 child we are doing a lapbook from in The Hands of a Child. The book is broke up into 13 lessons so thats how I am doing it. I bought the Exploring Creation with Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day my daughter could not keep her hands off of this book she has so many questions and she had so much fun learning. We have planted plants about two weeks ago and we are doing a garden to learn about the plant life cycle. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions? Thanks so much! Susan :001_smile:
  7. Hi, My mom is an art teacher and she gave me the idea to marble paper which is so neat and fun the kids had a blast. All you need is a plastic tub large enough to lay paper flat, marbling ink, water, and a straw. I put water and ink, in the tub then I used a straw by blowing through one end to mix the colors. I have attached a photo of the marbling we did. I hope this helps! :001_smile:
  8. My husband and I will be at the conference with our three children! :001_smile:
  9. Thank you to everyone for all of you prayers. It is so great to have such a wonderful group of people to confide in and have pray for us. :grouphug:
  10. I posted this so I can recieve prayer. We are so excitied. My daughter even made me a card last night telling me how much she loved me. I am due November 28. The last time I was pregnant I had a miscarriage in 2008 so I am on pins and needles. I am trying not to worry so much, if anyone could pray for the baby and I that would be great. We are really looking forward to our new blessing! :001_smile:
  11. Hi, I recently read a thread about Math Mammoth would you please tell we what you like or don't like about it. Is this program user friendly? Thanks so much! Susan :001_smile:

  13. This is my first year homeschooling. I went to the NC Home Educators Conference last year and was able to get some great buys on lots of things. I am going to the Midwest Conference are there lots of sales or would I just be better buying from Rainbow Resources. Thanks Susan
  14. I am so glad to hear she has been doing better. I know she is probably more comfortable at home then in the hospital. I will continue to pray for her and her family!
  15. I am trying hard to not let it bother me. I think my husband is more upset for me then I am. He thinks I shouldn't have anything else to do with them, because of the way I have been snubbed and the little comments. I have several homeschool moms I am friends with and that helps. I just would like to maintain my past friendships even if it is talk just once a month.
  16. They have normally been great friends. One of the friends had children that went too private school with my daughter. When the private school went up on tuition, and I had an incident at the after school center I searched my heart and decided that homeschooling would be the best for my family. My other friend moved her daughter to another private school. She talked to me a lot about the school, but I didn’t feel the school was a good fit for our family. I don't know if she pictured or wanted the girls to grow up in school together or what her problem is? She just says I don't know how you aren't crazy. My two friends who I am trying to reach out to, I do feel like they have formed a cliché and I am the one who is left out. I always have events at my house, and I am supposed to have an Easter Egg Hunt. I would love to get some of my new homeschool friends and their families, and my old friend and their families and have a huge celebration. My two old friends act as if homeschoolers are weird. I have two other very close friends that I have been friends with one who doesn't have kids and the other does. They look at my kids and me and say wow you do a great job. Not ew like the other ones. The one that has kids asked me could she bus her daughter to my house so I could teach her. She was just joking. Is it too much for me to ask that they not make comments? It’s not like I am forcing homeschooling down their throats. I just don't want the negative comments. When they make the comments I act like I don’t hear them. I usually change the subject.
  17. I have two really close friends one was in my wedding and I have known her forever. The other one we are good friends and I have known her for about five years. We use to have cookouts and hang out at each others houses, all of our spouses get along good so it worked out great. Since I have been homeschooling they treat me as I am some weird unknown person. I am the same person. I just want my children to get a quality education and I love spending time with my children. I don't know what to do. It seems as if I am the only one reaching out to them. They make snide comments when I talk about homeschooling how they don't know how I can do it, and that’s just not for me. My question is what would you do?
  18. You could be a trade assistant and sale things on Ebay for others. I owned an Antique shop and when I sold it I started selling things on Ebay to have an additional income. I now sell stuff for other homeschool moms, local companies, and myself to make extra money. You could even go around to auctions and yard sales and buy stuff to resale to get started
  19. My daughters name is Carrington. I also like Lillian, London, Lauralie, and Claire. Congrats I know you and your family have got to be so excitied. :001_smile: Children are such a blessing. We are currently trying for #4.
  20. I will be praying for you. I know it will be hard not being able to drive. Are you feeling better? Since the weather is getting better at least the kids can go outside to play so you won’t get cabin fever. I hope you are able to come to the conference. :grouphug:
  21. I will be praying for her and her family. :grouphug:
  22. I am thinking of using Sonlight Science would you give me your likes and dislikes. Thanks Susan:001_smile:
  23. I have three children and this is my first year homeschooling my daughter Carrington is 6, my son Jackson is five and Carson is two. I was going crazy and I felt like I am going to pull my hair out. They would ask when school was done and wiggle around. When I got the Workbox system by Sue Patrick it changed everything for me. My children know when they finish their boxes they are done with school. I also mix some fun things in to motivate them to get the boxes done. I hope this helps. Just know you are not alone. I will be praying for you.
  24. I have bought beef from Hawks farm and it had a great taste. I live in Louisburg. I even took the kids down to the farm and the older couple were very friendly and nice. I would recommend them.
  25. Colonial Williamsburg Homeschool weeks. Feb 27-March 7, 2010 and September 11-26, 2010
