  1. We are thinking about AOP monarch next year but, when I looked at the math scope and sequence my dd (8) would need to do fifth grade math. Has anyone noticed AOP's math about a year behind what you're doing now? I'm currently using CLE for math. I'm trying to decide whether I should continue w/CLE or do fifth grade math in AOP.
  2. We are thinking of getting Rosetta Stone Spanish (all 5 levels) but several people have said they don't think it's necessarily appropriate for my dd's age (7). Can you give me some alternate programs?
  3. My dd is 7 going into second grade and we'll be using it next year. So, what are the recommendations, should I get Latin American Spanish or Spain Spanish?
  4. What's the difference between the Spain & Latin American versions? I thought Spanish was Spanish. lol
  5. Grammar/Vocab: BJU 2 Writing: Reason for Writing T/copywork Spelling: Reason for Spelling Reading/literature: classics Math: CLE 3 Science: Apologia Astronomy Geography/History: Cantoring the Country Music: Pianimals Also thinking about adding Rosetta stone Spanish.
  6. I've looked on the abbreviation sticky and this isn't listed. What is it? I've seen a lot of talk about it and thought I'd check into it
  7. we used the BJU 1st grade this year and my dd quickly got bored with it. But, that is probably just her personality. I didn't like the LA portion of it at all. The teachers are very engaging and they're not teaching to a classroom setting.
  8. I don't know if all the books are listed, but here's a link to grade appropriate books: http://www.neh.gov/projects/summertimefavorites.html
  9. I'm in the same boat...done shopping for next year but I'm still looking at reviews and looking for something "else" lol
  10. Saw all the other grades but didn't see this one :)
  11. does anyone know where I can get a sample of spelling workout? I've been searching and searching. It seems like all the other ones I'm looking at dd already knows how to spell the words in it.
  12. Could someone give me some recommendations for spelling curriculum for second grade? My dd is a pretty good speller, but I'm just not very familiar w/spelling curricula out there.
  13. Would this be too much or would they compliment each other? Dd is almost done (2 more chapters) of Horizons math and I'm looking for something else and really like CLE but want to supplement it with something else. Thoughts?
  14. we used horizons 1 last year and are using BJU 2 this year and the amt of problems is pretty equivalent. We have the dvd version and only do the workbook pages. The dvd does the guided portion and then she turns it over and does it on her own. Depending on how well she grasps a concept we will do 1-3 lessons in one day, but only watching the dvd once.
