  1. I also had this done 2.5 years ago. It stopped my periods completely for 2 years, now they are back to a 28 day cycle, but so manageable, where they weren't before.
  2. My Mom lives in La Porte, my brother and SIL in The Highlands, and my Aunt & Uncle in Alvin. Sounds good to me. Right now I am still pulling my hair out trying to find a nice house, big enough, at a decent price, and in a decent neighborhood. We are waiting for DH meeting to discuss starting date and such, so I don't know exactly when we will move. We are thinking the last weekend in May.
  3. Hi there and welcome. I am new here myself. :D
  4. That is the area my DH will be working in, so also the area we are looking at houses, to start with.
  5. I saw several the other day in the Houston moving thread, but was wanting a specific thread. We are definitely relocating to Houston as DH got the position he had applied for. Just wondering who all was there. :D
  6. I was coming to say the same thing! Except I find them in the beds too. They are EVERYWHERE!!!! Of course, DH likes to start AS wars indoors and I have to exile them out. Sometimes I am gone and they do it anyhow. :D
  7. Yes, I worked at a children's home and that is what they instructed. I think men need to be aware of the things that people can assume if they put themselves in compromising position, but it is not my job to make those decisions for him. My Mother also believe men are incapable of being faithful, and it is our job to accept that. NOT IN THIS HOUSE!
  8. No, actually I quite love it. I was a single mom for a few years and a working & in college Mom, and then a full time working Mom and now that I get to be home I LOVE it. Even when there is nothing to do but enjoying nothing (although, I can always pick up a book or something). I joke that I have become such a homebody. I used to be SO social. Now, I just don't care much for going and doing. It's more relaxing at home for me.
  9. I think it's just my "newness" to HS, but I am excited. We will have to HS year round to achieve DD goal of graduating by 16. She will be out of 5th grade this month, will take a week off and start 6/7.
  10. I have a list of *requirements* in a home. I will evaluate for my schoolroom first, and then check the other requirements. Those include: large kitchen, fenced back yard, 4 bedrooms, 2 baths or more, and sidewalks. :D
  11. I took it when I was in college for ADHD. It did help me to sleep, but I don't remember any headaches. Sorry.
  12. pretty much on the feasibility of a schoolroom. :D It appears my DH got the job he was going after in Houston (YAY! Family, here we come!) and we are looking for a house. I stayed up looking at HAR last night and I kept evaluating the pictures looking for a "schoolroom". I found one with built in shelves and a desk and so on, and a large room at that. I was so excited. Put stars all around it's listing # on my sheet. So, today I go back to show it to DH, and I realize I HATE the rest of the house. However, that room is GREAT! ;) I also wanted to thank those who mentioned http://www.har.com on the other thread. It is a great resource.
  13. That is horrible. I am glad your son will be alright for the most part. I think I worry more about his feelings than the scars. Poor guy. :( My DD got a systemic fungal infection from a cat scratch when she was 4. Ended up in Pedi-ICU for 4 days. We didn't know if she would make it. So yes, cat scratches can be serious.
  14. I am in an online degree course offered through a brick and mortar college. It is VERY pricey and I have taken out student loans. I will be paying those back until the end of time it seams, but to ME it is worth it. I need to further my education. If anything ever happened to DH, I'd have to support my family. Even though I can do that with the degree I already have, I am stuck where I am now and can never go further up a career ladder. Meaning, I will never make more money. (Plus, I do not enjoy what I do.) What I am saying is I would do whatever would give you the best insurance for the rest of your working life. FInd a good accredited college, see if they offer job placement assistance, and weigh the pros and cons. Also, you should be able to get Pell grants if your income is low enough. Those don't have to be paid back. If the institution does not offer them, that is a HUGE red flag.
  15. All I was trying to say was that I personally had seen too many home birth/birth center births gone wrong to take that risk. I also have lost a child that NO ONE could have saved. I just personally would want everything available so I never had to face wondering what "if" I'd been at a hospital.
  16. My DD is going to be 6th grade, and I have chosen to do Lively Latin.
  17. I love the way you said this. Losing a child alters the fabric of your being. Period. I would do everything in my power to make certain all interventions were RIGHT there if they were needed. To me it would not be a gamble I was willing to take. In my 6 years of working in the NICU, I have seen 5 home births gone horribly wrong and the hospital births that went bad were not anything that could have been helped (meaning, everything was done that could have been done). No study can convince me otherwise. I believe what I see, not what I hear. As for our hospital reporting, BTW, a woman who comes in from a home birth or birthing center and delivers at the hospital is not considered a home birth.
  18. I paid $150 down and $100 a month for the first two. Third, I paid $150 down, $100 a month for 3 months, then I flexed the balance and they are paid off. (Our flex plan gives us all our money up front) so technically, we will pay it off for a year.
  19. I get that it includes literature and writing, but do I still need my LA program? I jut ordered CQLA. *sigh* I am still confused about TOG but guess I'll figure it out better as I go? I mean, what all I am going to need. I posted on my other thread about specifics, I just didn't realize there were also books to get in addition to the items in the bundle.
  20. Thank you Melissa, yes, that helps a lot. I was looking at the bundles.
  21. Thank you so much! I still have to get (and read) WTM, so I do not know the levels. :D I have only read parts online.
  22. See, I was all getting excited *thinking* I would put this on my wish list, and then you go and mention something from Apple. I am an Apple fan, so I would wait. :D
