Isn't Velcro wonderful? LOL Tying shoes is *really hard* to teach. You sort of have to just do it. Mother Goose's method is fondly known as the "Bunny Ears" method, since the loops look like the ears of the rabbit.

We are praying here as well. It sounds a little like cellulitis; we've dealt with that once. It comes on very quickly, hot and red and swollen, with tons of icky goo.

If that is the only problem you run into, you're golden :) I hate February because that means 1040s and FAFSAs, and life is just too short for that.

Of course not. What we really need is disposable ones so we don't have to watch them mildew in the trunk of the car. Besides, when kids get wet, they grow, and these guys want to be bigger!

We leave everything in the car until it's time to eat. It difficult to get through some of the crowds with heavy backpacks. You can always eat outside since our weather is improving daily.

In my experience, it's very helpful to have someone administer the test who is at least familiar with the child...someone seen "as their side" instead of an opponent. If it isn't possible to meet the test administrator briefly prior to the testing appointment, it may help to ask for an extra 15-20 minutes at the beginning for a get-to-know-you.

I don't think that I'd worry YET about your son! There are so many different options that may appeal to him as time goes on. Most military schools require "a" varsity sport, but that is not limited to the typical football. There is varsity golf, tennis, swimming, and at least 17 others. Their requirements are a little different, and they have many developmental types of programs, including a scouting type of program and high school summer camps. Also, if you are in NC, you are close to VA! Think about an impressive school such as VMI, which is essentially a military school, with excellent financial aid and different requirements, but has the flavor of a vibrant university as well.

Jennifer! Take it easier on yourself! You have a newborn AND young school-aged children! Just getting yourself dressed before dinner is a major accomplishment. There are years and years and years and years ahead in which to do all of those lovely things you want to do!

My boys would mostly be happy to work alone, all the time, with no oversight. Ahem. Even so, I want to be more involved, and I love to plan and scatter. Even if the day goes badly, and everything falls apart, I always check their math lessons. That's one subject that is so dependent on moving along in a fairly straight line that I make myself do it.

Same here! We've been loosely studying architecture all year, and this has been the *best* book. The quirkiest project in the book that we have loved is construction with various macaroni shapes. Really!

K12 is not a DVD, but it is on the computer. Could that be it? ~SusanK

We have just recently asked this question to several coaches as well as NCAA representatives. The consensus was the important issue is the number of credit hours enrolled in during a particular semester----that affects years of athletic eligibility. Actual credit hours earned, whether dual-credit (both high school and college), just college, or just high school, wasn't an issue. It's quite possible to be one thing academically (for example, freshman or sophomore) and another thing for athletic eligibility. Whenever a student enrolls in any college (community or otherwise) with full-time hours (12 or more semester hours concurrently), that student's "eligibility clock" starts ticking. A student is only eligible to play a sport for 4 years from the first term of full-time enrollment. The recommendation was to never take more than 12 hours in a particular term. ~SusanK
