  1. I"m thinking about getting out my YBB tapes and doing them again and I was just sitting here looking at the diet that goes with it. Does anyone here use this diet? Do you have good luck with it?
  2. ok I found one http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1843,156168-230202,00.html :)
  3. My dd wants to make some jello fluff. We have jello, cool whip and marshmallows. But the recipes I've found all call for cream cheese or cottage cheese. Do you have to have those?
  4. I like that story. I'm glad you found someone to straighten your hair out. Sometimes you find the greatest people in the most unexpected places.
  5. It is just hair and it'll grow back. It sucks for now, it'll be OK later. But I do keep wondering if I have an obligation to let her or the owner know what happened. Because my friend kept telling me that the things she did to my hair are exactly what they tell you in school not to do, ever. She kept saying over and over, I don't know why she did this to your hair. But I've never made a complain like that before, but then I've never had a haircut that bad before.
  6. I know it wasn't funny at the time, but are you able to look back at it now and laugh?
  7. What do you do when you get a really bad haircut? Anyone have a funny story to tell to make me feel better? I have this friend that used to cut hair for a living. She doesn't work anymore, but she'll trim my hair for me every once in a while. She's very good at it, she was a 'hair artist' and an instructor at one time. A couple weeks ago I needed a haircut so badly I couldn't stand it anymore. It had been almost a year since my hair had been cut and it was so thick and heavy. My friend had been feeling sick a lot lately so I hadn't asked her to cut it in a long time. The other day I went to the place where I used to get my hair cut before my friend started cutting it. In a nutshell, at the salon they didn't blend in my bangs (which I cut at home and needed blending badly) left the front too heavy, and thinned the back too much. Instead of going down the shaft gradually thinning it, and doing it in random places, she thinned it at the scalp all in the same spot on the back of my head. After giving my hair a few days to settle down after the cut, I realized it still wasn't laying right in places and felt too thin in the back so I asked my friend to look at it. She had a cussing fit. She did the best she could to fix it, but she said I'm looking at about 5mos of letting it grow before it's going to be back where it needs to be to have a decent haircut.
  8. I like Caron Anne as a first and middle name. Because if you do it as just a first name, then you either have to come up with a middle name or have Caron Anne NMN. My daddy didn't have a middle name and he spent years thinking about giving himself a middle name, except he never could figure out something he liked that went with his first name.
  9. TY OhE. She is slightly farsighted and the eye doctor prescribed her reading glasses just to see if they help. We just got them the other day in fact.
  10. Really? Even my grandma made pee jokes, and she was such a lady. She used to tell about her sister Madge. They had peas for supper one night, and their father said take a pea Madge. So she did.
  11. I'm not sure it's possible to have 2 girls together without bathroom humor. lol
  12. she had an evaluation in 1st grade by college students. But it didn't go so well and there were a lot of factors that skewed the results. It wasn't a good experience. The person that interpreted the results for me said that as best she could tell she's not dyslexic but is LD with a low IQ that puts her in the slow learner category. That she would never have good writing, and recommended typing instead. She has no depth perception but they said we'd have to find out from her eye doctor about that. Her eye doctor would recommend VT for her except we'd have to drive over 200mi, insurance doesn't pay for it and we can't afford it out of pocket. She gets headaches and feels sick after reading a short amount of time. After doing some research I found one other place that could test her and we've been on their waiting list for years. Every time I call they say she's still at the bottom of the list. So I've not been able to get her retested yet even though I feel that she needs it. She can narrate a story to me. But when she writes it, the wording is awkward, the words are in the wrong order, words are missing. It's not that she can't spell them-- she doesn't usually let that stop her. SHe misses words when writing from dictation also. If I have her read it back to me she either reads it just like she thought she wrote it, or she'll catch her mistake and say oh, that's supposed to say....
  13. I've been there. I get burned out on having to heavily tweak each lesson and hunting down resources. Then I try to switch to something that's easier to use, then I'm never happy with it. I need something that challenges me as much as the kids. Sometimes unschooling helps a lot. Put down your plans and follow the kids interest. Just have fun for a while then come back and try again.
  14. Yesterday she was supposed to write a flood myth that she made up herself. When she was done she had a page full of random words decorated with punctuation. It made no sense at all. And she got her feelings hurt so badly when I tried to go over it with her, because it made sense to her. It's like she can't get a thought out of her head and onto paper with all the words in the right order and without skipping any words. So we can't actually get to writing a paragraph, because everyday we have to go over how to write a sentence.
  15. My dh's second cousin died last week. They weren't close. But his friend, who is her niece, was close to her and she was the one to call and tell dh. I've been trying to figure out since then if dh is related to his friend and what their degree of kinship is. What would the niece of dh's second cousin be to dh?
