  1. How awful. ? I’m sure you know this, but do take some time for self care as well as helping those around you.
  2. Maybe I’ll plan to schedule tests on our light days...
  3. Boring stuff so far. MCP Math for the new 1st grader. MP Geography. I really want The Story of Science for the next four years of history, and I’m probably not making it through the week without splurging. I really kind of want to just buy Bookshark 8 and spread it over the four years as an elective.
  4. Something like that, yeah. I’m going to have three students again next year, and that’s the point where I really need a very open and go level of preparation. (I can’t find anything with search since the forum upgrade.)
  5. Do you do the tests and the lessons and the investigations all on separate days or do you combine some? I’m trying to decide if this should be a 4 or 5 day a week math plan
  6. Let us know what you think of the Pam Barnhill workshops. I like her podcast but I’ve never splurged on extras.
  7. I’m shopping to bleed off stress from something else. I do find curriculum buying fun and satisfying; I just don’t want to overspend!
  8. I need more coffee. Also I’m super stressed and buying curriculum. Not a good combination.
  9. Level 1. Not you - their ordering is confusing!
  10. Landmark books are consistently good, and Sterling North is an excellent writer.
  11. I love Reasoning and Reading for the logic stage. I’d start with Book 1 for your kid. They really cover the same topics at increasing difficulty.
  12. I have that on the list for the older girl. ? We’re going to read it alongside the human body segment, for health and nutrition.
  13. Oldest child has continued his adolescent habit of making absolutely appalling choices. ?? It’s one of those days where I want to scream a lot.
  14. Oh, this would be a good time to finally use Girls Who Looked Under Rocks
  15. I went to my second Weight Watchers meeting and I have lost 4.8 pounds! Feeling pretty good about myself today.
  16. I probably only want to do one graphic novel, but one would be a nice change of pace. We are pro-evolution here, so I did want to add some materials that fit with that. ETA: We are also fans of women in science books. ?
  17. I’d like to give my 4th and 5th graders a reading list to go along with Elemental Science Biology next year. I’m thinking no book reports, just 9-10 books to read or listen on audio over the year. I’m planning on a Darwin biography, The Burgess Animal Book, and My Life with the Chimpanzees by Jane Goodall. They’re both excellent readers, if a little sensitive to graphic nature. Any favorite living books with a biology theme?
  18. My Rainbow Resource box arrived a day early. I’m unduly excited. (Also, I can’t quite decide on the right adjective for this thread. ?)
  19. Roughly how many pages are in the Cottage Press one? I can’t tell from the picture on Rainbow Resource if it is thick or thin.
  20. I just realized how 20th century I was being. There are lovely video clips of many of these wonders on youtube.
