  1. I have been doing Writing With Ease with my 7 year old for about a year now. I assumed the second book would be something different, but it appears to be the same as Book One? I feel like she doesn't need all the repetition and we are both bored with it. I am looking for something new but am having trouble figuring out where to go with her. She writes well and picks up on basic conventions (and applies them correctly to her own creative writing) from reading books. She enjoys writing and I want to challenge her, but I also don't want to skip over teaching the basics. Does anyone have recommendations? Thank you!
  2. This was all so helpful, thank you! I decided to start her on Level 1.
  3. Oh, I didn't see that there are placement tests and other info on their site about this. Thank you!
  4. I am considering starting AAS with my 2nd grader when she finishes The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Reading. We haven't used a separate spelling curriculum up to this point. What I'm struggling with is which AAS level to start on. She is a pretty strong reader and speller. I think Level 1 seems much too easy for her, but if I jump straight to Level 2 will she be completely lost?
  5. My daughter is almost 7 and is close to finishing Ordinary Parent's Guide to Reading. I am looking for some advice for what to use after this? She is a strong reader and is reading a variety of chapter books on her own. But I am unsure where to go next with reading instruction. She will also be continuing First Language Lessons and Writing With Ease Level 1. Thank you!
  6. I have been using WWE Level One with my 1st grader this year. I just recently learned that there is an Instructor Text that goes with WWE. I am confused about why an Instructor Text would be needed and am wondering if I should be using it. What does it include and what is it for?
  7. I will most likely use SOTW with my 7 year old next year. Does it make sense to use a separate curriculum to teach geography/map skills, or is that covered in SOTW? What about a “social studies” curriculum for learning the basics about government, community, etc.? I am guessing most people just teach this with books and through daily life, but I would like some kind of guide. Thank you!
