  1. Thanks for watching it. I am not sure if that was Beautiful Girlhood or not, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. I am so glad you all enjoyed it and it encouraged your children with Type 1! That is one of our major goals.
  2. I am part of a non profit that supports people with type 1 diabetes locally. We made a professional video so the kids could explain their type 1. Feel free to pass it on!
  3. I hate that stupid card!!! When the bill is for a Dr.'s office, and the amount is for the amount of my co-pay...why on earth do I have to provide a receipt. :cursing: I have started send in receipts and not use the card too. It just really frustrates me!
  4. I have been doing it for around 6 weeks. I do it with a friend most days. I think that helps. I don't love doing it, but I do love that it is only 20 minutes and it get results. There is not much I could do in 20 minutes that has the intensity. You can turn off the sound, but I found then I just had to watch her more to find out when to switch exercises.
  5. I spotted for several years for up to 9 days after my period. I had an ablation last year and it fixed the problem. I still have a period, but it is only 5 days and very light. She did a D&C then the ablation and found a polyp. The recovery was very easy.
  6. I have been doing it for around 5 weeks. I do it usually 6 days a week. Honestly, now that I am into it it is harder if I skip a day. This past weekend I had a girls weekend and skipped two days. I thought I would DIE yesterday! My endurance has improved so much over the past month, and I can tell a difference in how my clothes fit. I haven't lost much as far as numbers, but my numbers aren't that bad.
  7. http://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Standard-Natural-Chocolate/dp/B000GIQT06/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1279453244&sr=8-2 It tastes the best to us.
  8. I had one a year and a half ago. It did help, but I still have periods. My dr told me I would though. I am 36 and she said at my age you are still likely to have a period. I would do it again in a heart beat.
  9. I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I have helped a friend start a local non-profit to support people with type 1. It is such a difficult thing, and so misunderstood by so many people. :grouphug: We have a web site if you are interested.
  10. My friend lived in Mexico for several years and she boils chicken, shreds it and adds tomato sauce, garlic powder, and a little cumin. It is pretty mild, but very good to me,
  11. We have a GMC 2007, and my mom has a 2006. The only problem either of us has had is that the control panel goes out. Apparently it is a problem they are aware of, and if it happens under 60,000 miles they will replace it for free. After 70,000 they provide the part and you pay for the work. I love mine!
  12. I have gone back and forth on this too and I think I have landed on How to Teach Spelling. It has workbooks, and I think it will do the rules like AAS. I am going to order it and see. I don't think that I can do one more mom intensive thing, so I am hoping this works!
  13. I think that was on my dh's list of reasons he was nervous about us homeschooling too. Thankfully 3 years later he can say it with pride. :D
  14. Thanks for doing this math. I bought a laser printer our first year and I agree it is my best purchase ever! As far as MEP, I print out 1/2 a year of the student book and teacher book at home, and have them spiral bound at kinkos. A computer at the school table is too much of a temptation for me. :tongue_smilie:
  15. I am going to reply without much help, and hope that it bumps your thread so someone else sees it. We are going to do 6 next year and I have been debating what we will do the next year. On the yahoo group for mep I read that you could go from year 6 to their GCSC (I am not sure if that is right) and skip yr 7, 8, & 9. From that perspective it seems that it is. You can print out the scope and compare to a pre alg course. I like the look of 7, 8, and 9, but I don't want to get behind doing that and not just taking standard American courses. (alg, geom)
  16. One more thing I heard about once was making a paste out of meat tenderizer and putting in on the stain to sit for a while. The tenderizer is an enzyme to break down proteins and that is what is in the stain. If the oxyclean doesn't work, it is worth a shot!
  17. I wanted to throw in my experience for what it is worth. We used MEP the first 2 years we home schooled (3rd and 4th grade) and the beginning of 5th. We started on the second half of year 2 because he had not had multiplication yet, and that is where they introduced it. I loved it and he loved it...but I got scared. I started worrying we weren't covering everything, and I never felt like I could catch up. I know that was just me being OCD, but it bothered me. Around October, we switched to Singapore. We zipped through year 4 to cover things we hadn't covered and began 5A around December. We are now in 5B and will finish up by the end of the year. What I have learned through this is that MEP does cover everything. I like the way they introduce things and keeps it interesting. They also cover some things that Singapore doesn't. We are switching back to MEP y6 next year. I do like Singapore's word problems, and the model method. I am glad we have learned that and I will keep these books to help my younger kids learn that as well.
  18. I agree that this post doesn't make me depressed. It makes me realize I am not alone and most likely not crazy.
  19. We were participants in a Truth Project group, and registered with The Truth Project website and were able to order them. If you can't find one to participate in I agree with PP and would call FoF and see if they would let you order them.
  20. I found it in the lesson plans. You have to read these pretty closely, but it says solution on them.
  21. It depends on how you arrange your lesson. (We are on the second half of year 4 BTW.) I do all the teaching I need to do and then let him do the written work. It probably takes me between 20 and 30 min. You could do it the way they have it set up and go over one section and have them do the section, go over the next section, and then have them do it. There is a moderator on the yahoo group that handed over YR 7 to her son and said, just do it. She gave him the lesson plans as well as the student pages. He did fine. At that point I think it could be more independent. I am not sure how old your olders are, so there are two different ideas.
