AND SUNY Geneseo - how sweet! :)
-
I did it on my one and only bathroom project, so if I can do it... :)
-
I just tried the PetSafe SweepOne, and I hated it. :( It looked like it was working, but there was lots of waste hidden beneath its Zen-garden-like surface. I used Swheatscoop clumping litter, so maybe that was a factor. My cat who lives a clean litter box was fascinated by it, though; he watched it all day!

I love it almost all of it - the water, the sound of the waves, the sunrises and sunsets, the storms...I could go on forever!
I don't love the sand afterwards, but I have crazy rituals in place to deal with it - bucket of water left in the hot car to rinse off in, mesh bags for sand toys, whisk broom for stubborn dry sand.
I love any body of water, too - rushing streams, tubing down rivers, kayaking, my local pool in the morning during early-morning lap swim and in the evening after dinner. Even ice skating seems to be a way to commune with water for me.
I took SCUBA diving in college, but I can't dive now because of the cheap life insurance my husband and I have, but it's up when my daughter turns 20, so after that, I'm heading someplace warm and beautiful for an amazing SCUBA trip. I snorkle now, and I love that, too.
My favorite beaches are Southwick on Lake Ontario, Cape Charles on the Chesapeake, and Assateague Island National Seashore.
I don't really believe in astrology, but I'm an Aquarius, so maybe that's why I just absolutely love being near water. :)

Yes - eggs are a good point, Jenne!
And, look here...BACON!!!
-
Yes - not to be funny, but have you looked at the plan? It's paleo - meat, vegetables, some fruit, no grains, no dairy.

Thanks, guys - I needed to hear that! I'm not the resilient one in our family, especially when it comes to money. I've got a trip to Philadelphia coming up, so I can use some vouchers on that and all will be well. All is already well, but you know what I mean! :)

These stories are why I can only have friends who are at my own standards - and who don't care about the states of my house any more than I care about the states of theirs! :)

My husband was nominated for and won a company-wide award - Innovator of the Year. Great!
He had to go to Phoenix to receive it and attend meetings. We live in upsate NY. Bummer.
We don't fly, so he reserved train accomodations, partly funded by some Amtrak vouchers that I had from an aborted trip out west last February, allowing us to get cash reimbursement for the vouchers. Great!
On Sunday, he looked at his tickets again in preparation for leaving that night...to find that the train actually left on Saturday. Bummer.
That wasn't exactly what he said when he found out. Great!
I said that he probably shouldn't mention this little snafu in his acceptance speech. He laughed heartily. Phew!
In the end, we'll be out some money from our vacation fund, which is fine because we are lucky enough to have a vacation fund. We'll also have a whole bunch of Amtrak vouchers again. Blargh! Our daughter gets motion-sick, which is why she and I headed for Utah for for a week but actually stayed in Chicago for a weekend instead.
I feel bad for my husband, though. He feels so stupid. He's very resilient, and he can handle the ribbing he'll get today. He may end up just flying out. He said last night, "I drove a vegetable-oil car for four years and I keep our house at 58*. I've done my part to reduce our carbon footprint!" Not that we couldn't do better - he was really just being jokily defiant. :) I love that man, and I just don't want him to feel too bad. He's not used to making mistakes. ;)
I had to tell someone, though. My mother knows, of course, and it'll come up with some local friends because we'll have to make some adjustments to our plans this week. I was so excited that I would have the car for a week and a bit more without having to drive him to work. One-car family - more carbon-footprint reduction! - and we have to leave at 6:30 if I want the car, so we only take it one day a week, and it was looking pretty sweet to me to be able to drive around town whenever I wanted to! ;) Kidding, kidding!

What a tough situation you're in - I'm sorry.
Since you mention another relative who wants to continue feeding the cats, can she take care of spaying and neutering them? After that, whether either of you continues to feed them is up to you, I think. Preventing tyem from reproducing is the important thing.
In case you haven't found this page:

I wish you the best.

Okay - I think I'm safe. We now have FOUR cats. It's getting crazy, but not there yet. Phew!
-
Darn it, Puddles - you've got me pegged!

When we started volunteering for a cat rescue group, I told my daughter it did not mean we were getting another freakin' cat! But my husband really liked Big Ross...so guess who we bought home today? :)

Girls, I just had two glasses because it's my BIRTHDAY!!! And also, science. :)

I do this, but I use half the Dawn. More than that made it way too hard to rinse. We have regular grouted tile and a cast iron enamel tub. We also have hard water. I really like it for getting scum off the tub. Our tiles don't seem to get as soap scummy.
Anothertip - I've been adding a 1/4 tsp. or so of tea tree oil to a big bottle of peroxide. I put a spray nozzle on the peroxide bottle and spritz the shower and vinyl curtain every other day. We used to get mildew on our shower curtain, but I last washed it in November and we haven't had ANY mildew since. I loveit!!!

No advice, but how wonderful that you are living YOUR best life. I wish you the absolute best.

When I was still teaching - you know, outside the home - I called roll on the first day and came across a Cattie. I pronounced it with a short a. The room erupted into laughter! The girl said, "No, it's Catie." I said, "Oh, no, it's not. That double consonant makes the vowel short," and then in my head thought, "Shut up, you dummy - her parents named her and didn't know any better!" Then I apologized and ended my phonics lesson posthaste!

I'm so sorry. :(

You need to know that I am jealous. That is all.

A candy and soda party sounds like something an eight year old imagines adulthood to be!
I LOVE Candy Freak! And candy, but duh, right?
Great idea about the small soda flights - thanks!
For my 40th birthday, I'm having a sugar party at a roller rink. Everyone has to bring some sugar-y treat. The candy and soda party is my three-years-before-my-40th test party. :)

Sorry, odalysmd21...I think most of us in this thread are talking about the UPSTATE Upstate! ;)
Also, the thread is pretty old, so you might start a new one for the Hudson Valley area.
If you're ever north of the Thruway, though, we're friendly up here! :)

I'm so sorry for your loss, and you did the right thing. Big hugs to you.

No ideas for this, but I have a candy and soda party in the early planning stages...oh, the sugar!!! It's for adults, though, so they can do whatever the H they want. :)
