Love my mother! We vacation together, drive each other nuts sometimes, talk all the time, etc. She lives in our neighborhood, so I see her all the time, too. My kid's talking to her right now. :)
I'm close with my MIL and step-mother, too. I've got great mothers all around.

You guys are so clever with your spoilers in white! I've never seen that before! :)

I always brine chicken, and I usually cook a half or a whole bird. I also think pastured chicken is 1000x better than anything I ever bought in the store. :)
I agree with Bill's poaching method fir breasts, too. Very good and easy and fast!

Oh, I love this thread! So many favorites!

If I don't take my cans to the back of my house where they belong, someone always throws dog carp in them! Then it gets nasty and I get mad, mad, mad! I even make my friends take their kids' poopy diapers home. Sorry - I use the toilet and my cats use the litter pan. I get my family's "poop in a group" (get it? that's instead of another cruder - but pretty fun! saying!); everyone else who comes into my house or yard needs to do the same!

We also use an old engineers secret and put two heat sinks on top of it. I use them for fast defrosting on all my meats. Absorbs the cold as well. Once it's thawed enough, run cool water over and through it, remove the giblet, wipe down and cook. Never had any problems.
How do you make the heat sinks? An engineer's wife who is away from her engineer wants to know!

$15? :)
That's what I'd give him!

THey have cute flats, too!

Are you really starting a business doing this? Spill!

If she can deliver on such a machine, I'll take it for the mountain of Legos we already have!
I'll keep you posted! ;)
-
Oh, my! That seems crazy, but cool. My husband pointed out how labor-intensive it would be, but this kid who hangs around me all the time* suggested a machine could sort the pieces.
*She wanted me to add that. :)

I made it last night and put the Pioneer Woman's sloppy joes on it. It was the first time I actually liked it. :)

LOLOLOLOLOL!
You know, I think of you as Mrs. Just Agree With Me...
Ha! I never thought of it like that! Maybe it's because I also usually agree with you?
We should get together because I bet we would be super-fun together! :)

Boy, that would make me want to say, "Because my cat peed on it."
Is that snarky? ;)
-
Yep - I've had it done with no qualms. My vet realized right away that the stray who had adopted me was pregnant, and she was glad to have me agree to taking care of everything at once. The world doesn't need any more kittens; I volunteer at an adoption center, and I can attest to the over-population problem. :(

No way! You're not being overpaid; you're being well-compensated. This isn't an issue of dishonesty or taking advantage of someone. Enjoy your job and its monetary benefits. :)

Wow - what an experience. Thanks for posting an update; I have thought about you and your family over the past year. I hope your children continue to heal. I'm so glad you're in a better place now.

As usual, Chris in VA is a lovely person and poster. :)
She is right - the sprolls are annoying! (It's a new word! Think it'll catch on? ;) )

I think Matt asked a good question in a reasonable place. His other responses to music-related topic have been excellent, and he could be a valuable resource for parents or kids who want advice from a peer who's familiar with music.
Matt, I applaud you for posting in a HS forum about something you really seem to know about. You certainly never came off as "mean." :) You also commented reasonably to another poster and gave good advice.
Sometimes, the forum has issues with spammers and trolls, and I think that maybe that's what the other poster was trying to figure out. :) I think, though, that a herald trumpet is a type of trumpet, and not a brand, right?

We made Sculpey food, too! It is so, so, SO cute! Tiny lollipops for mini dolls and bigger ones for regular dolls. You ould totally recreate this set for less. :)

We go to one every year! It's so fun. :)

I need to get a better routine in place. We have started to use more delight-directed learning, and I feel like I'm running - or cleaning - all day. I think because we don't have certain lessons at certain times anymore, I fill time with housework when I should sit down and read a book with my kid, or listen to her read one.

We are such party poopers... ;)

We used amitriptyline on one of ours, too - just as Jackie did, we would use it when we needed to per her symptoms. It was a great help! She was probably on it for two or three two-week periods over 10 years.
What is a good price for a Half-Sheet Size Silpat Baking Mat?

So, my Silpats are...filthy. They look TERRIBLE. They're still non-stick, but seriously a mess. I've had them for at least 10 years and I wash them probably every other time I use them. If I've just baked cookies and I'm going to bake some more sometime soon-ish, I wipe it off and call it good. Now one finally has a rent in it and I have to buy a new one. I still love them, though. I also use parchment when I need to, but the Silpat is much, much better, IMHO. :)
I use standard aluminum half-sheet restaurant-style pans as well, and those are a mess, too. No one will ever eat at my house again... :(
