I'm about to take a nap in the basement in a folding lawn chair. My cat even came down with me.

My daughter (11) and our five-year-old neighbor have been playing all day. Now it's 9:36, and they both need to go to bed, but they're still playing while the parents negotiate who is going to put the kids to bed...

I don't see what the issue is at all. I'd say go ahead. It's completely fine for kids of different ages to be friendly, so I'd let her go.

I am so sorry for your loss. A close friend attempted suicide in May, and at first, she was missing. I needed to help organize a search for her and my daughter was privy to the distress my friends and I were dealing with that day, as well as the police and helicopters and emergency services because homeschooling. It was summarily terrible - and my friend didn't complete her attempt. Talking about this with a grief counselor is so important. As you say, you cannot wrap your brain around this; your son will need help, too. I am so very sorry. Much love to you tonight.

We met when I was 21 and he was 25; we got married a few months later when I was 22. We'll be married 17 years this September. We had our daughter when I was 28 and he was 32, and she's 11 now. We've done fine over the years - some bumps in the road, but no regrets.

Definitely stay in NF rather than Buffalo if you want to spend time at the falls. Lots of hotels and attractions in Clifton Hill and you can usually find a package deal that includes hotels, meals, and attractions. Since you're coming from Chicago, I assume you're going the northern route through Canada anyway? Then you're already on that side and could avoid cruising back into the US since you're going onto Montreal next and back to Toronto. We've stayed at the Howard Johnson and we've just walked everywhere to avoid dealing with parking. On the American side, there's a circulator trolley that takes you all over the state park once you've parked, if you go over there.
The CN tower is definitely cool if you enjoy heights. Beautiful views, obviously, and fun to eat at the restaurant at night. That might be a special treat for your daughter's birthday.
Enjoy your trip!

My daughter liked both, but recommends Secret Life for a group with lots of kids. We saw BFG with grandparents and they liked it, but they would have been okay the other one, too, I think.

My SIL always says, "My DH just loves MY macaroni and cheese." One time I asked her for the recipe, expecting different kinds of cheeses, interesting spices (I don't know why I expected this. She really only likes white foods. But my brother is a chef, so he's makes some awesome, creative macaroni and cheese dishes.) She said, "I boil spaghetti noodles and ONLY use Velveeta." Huh. Okay, then. 😜
That being said, it is perfect fit those delicious junk food dishes!

We live in Syracuse near the University and it's lovely. Beautiful neighborhood with large, inexpensive houses that are all about 100 years old. Lots of trees and parks and you're very close to lots of state parks. Active homeschooling community. I grew up here, so I'm biased. 😊

I read another forum about nursing, so it's very confusing as to which forum I'm reading here! 😂

I'm working through my prerequisites now - just A&P I + II to finish this year and then I'll start an ADN program at my local community college. I have a bachelor's in secondary English education, so I'm planning to do a one-year online RN-to-BSN program once I've finished my ADN program and worked for at least a year. I carefully planned which classes I took as pre-reqs in order to maximize my transfer credits. My friend runs the nurse residency program at the hospital where I plan to work and she strongly recommends the BSN. Also, if your employer will cover the cost of the additional classes required for the BSN, you'll be in great shape. Good luck! I'll look forward to following your progress here. 😃

Oh, my gosh - I can't believe all of this! (I mean I BELIEVE it, but holy crow.) I'm so sorry you're going through this, but very glad to hear that some things are improving.

I hate this, too! But that's interesting that the US may be the outlier...My pet peeve is using the dollar sign BEHIND the number! 10$ instead of $10!!!!! GRRRRR! Where did they learn this?

I love my Temperpedic. It was totally worth $100. Plus, I haven't had to replace it like I've had to with the cheaper ones.

But the classifieds require that I post here in order to sell something, so that's what I'm doing. :) I have almost the entire MCT Basic Homeschool Package to sell, so check it out in the classified if you're interested.

It's wonderful! I have a friend who was just gifted one by her friends. :) Her daughter has Pitt-Hopkins, a very rare genetic disorder. We hope this will help her immensely.
