  1. I would go on Ravelry.com and browse patterns to find something similar to what I had in mind and just use that for a ballpark figure. Then buy a skein over what you think you need. Better too much yarn than not enough and you can always use leftovers in colorwork or to make a hat or small project.
  2. What about biographies? I used to live in a community with a homeschool library and they had many biographical videos that were wonderful. Some of the movies were about people from the Bible and others were important people in church history such as Martin Luther and Susanna Wesley. I would imagine some of these would be available from Christian Book Distributors. Heroes of the Faith is a very good series of biographies if your child would rather read books than watch movies.
  3. I just had a CT scan done with dye injected into my veins through an IV. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be and was over in a very short time. Sending prayers up on your behalf.
  4. I have gotten through crisis after crisis with two needles and a ball of string. I know exactly what you mean.
  5. Whole Foods for the Whole Family. It's the La Leche League cookbook.
  6. Tempurpedic is definitely worth the money for us. My hubby has sciatica and a bulging L-5 disc in his back. I have arthritis in my hips. We both awaken pain free since we bought our Tempurpedic. It did take us a few weeks to get used to sleeping on this mattress. It is so unlike anything we had ever slept on before.
  7. I got the biggest one. I figured that it could never be too large, only too small. Love it!
  8. Is there a way to learn somebodys phone number or address if you only know their name and the town they live in?
  9. Praying. Also, put in a call to your district Congressman. When there was a big passport backup several years ago, I called my Congressman and asked for help getting a passport in five days so I could go to Italy with my hubby. Had the passport in hand the very next day. Could not hurt to try.
  10. Just buy a study Bible. I used to buy all kinds of Bible studies....Kay Arthur, David Jeremiah, Beth Moore, etc. Then I was given a study Bible. Now I can just read my Bible and all the notes are there to explain the Scriptures. It is so wonderful to read through the Bible this way and let the Word speak to me. I have the Zondervan NASB Study Bible.
  11. Could I get your recipe for the shower spray stuff?
  12. we also ward off viruses with elderberry syrup and Thieves. For coughs, Young Living RC is wonderful. Rub it on their chests and throats. YL Peppermint for headaches and gastro-intestinal junk. And YL lemon essential oil will dry up a zit overnight. Wintergreen oil is great for sprains, aches, and pains.
  13. Paula Deen's bacon wrapped chicken bites. I am asked to bring these to every church dinner, baby shower, tailgate, or potluck we go to. Hope my link works: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/sweet-chicken-bacon-wraps-recipe/index.html
  14. I am from WV and my husband's father was a mine superintendent. Did you have any specific questions?
  15. Eureka Environsteamer. $76 at amazon.com
  16. What you wear isn't really important. Love your husband and let him know how much you appreciate him. Nothing else matters.
  17. I did buy the fruit leather sheets. They were extra, but not that expensive and well worth the price. I think the book I use is The Dehydrator Cookbook by Mary Bell. It's out of print, but maybe you could find one on half.com or bookfinder.com
  18. Go to a decent music store and let them help you. Nothing more frustrating than trying to play a cheap instrument. My son started with a Blue Ridge acoustic. They are Martin copies and very good quality for the price. I think it was around $350 with a case, on sale.
  19. I don't know the answers to any of those questions, but I have had my Excalibur for 10 years and it is wonderful.
  20. I have never found a mascara that does not make my eyes itch. I have tried about a hundred different ones over the years. I hate having to settle for naked eyes. Occasionally, I will see a new one and give it a shot. But I still get itchy eyes. Hypoallergenic means nothing in my case. Anybody know of one for a problem like this? Maybe I am a very talented hypochondriac.
  21. I found great bottles on Ebay last year. Thanks for the pie link! I am off to check them out.
  22. I am knitting grrlfriend marketbags (free pattern on ravelry) for people on my list this year. Last year, I did the felted boxes and bowls out of Mason Dixon Knitting and put stuff in them. (every library has this book) I am making a doorway puppet theater for the grandkids along with a bunch of puppets. In the past, I have given homemade soap with knitted washcloths. One year, I found cute bottles and gave homemade vanilla extract. I love the ideas I get from this board!
