  1. So, if you don't mind another question : ) Can Omnibus be done well without the introductions?
  2. You'll get the hang of them as you go on. IOW, they get easier I also like Perplexors, they are like Mind Benders but the books are twice as think for the same price. I can't remember the name of the company off hand, sorry
  3. My dd liked it, I bought it and sold it, but I wish I hadn't as now my youngest will need it
  4. Feeling it here as well. I'm trying to help my dd become more independent in her studies, that seems to be the main goal right now, and I will be considering that heavily when I choose curriculum for next year. Up to now, I've always tended to buy what is most teacher intensive, but now I have to regroup and change a few things.
  5. Would I have to tweak it alot. I know with TOG, there is nothing to tweak regarding this, but I wasn't sure about Omnibus thanks
  6. Not a bible study either, but my girls are loving their new Teen Extreme bibles, the commentary is very relevant for that age group
  7. Thanks, there are two at my library a 2002 version with 8cds called Instant Conversational Spanish and a 2005 version with 8cds called just Conversational Spanish, do you think they are the same thing? thanks
  8. We are enjoying TOG, and it has been a good year. I use the program lightly, we do the reading, geography, some timeline and then discussion & hand-on. I don't use the Student sheets very often anymore, nor do we use the vocab. That said, I like TOG, but I am entering a new phase and I would like to find something that my dd could use that wouldn't be so teacher intensive. I would like to see her taking more ownership and while I know that is possible with TOG I would love to find something that would be easier to do this with. She will be in 8th grade next year, and really needs a push in this direction, so I'm considering other options. Another reason is that I would love to spend an entire year on Middle Ages/ Ren & Reformation and TOG only spends 1/2 a year on that time period. I know I could tweak it, but again I would prefer something I don't have to tweak. hth
  9. where would I go to do the middle ages in Omnibus, book 2? Are there sample on the Veritas site? thanks again
  10. He can practice with some people he works with, but really needs something here at home to teach him. CC courses are out, as the semester has already begun and he doesn't really have the time to go to the class. He needs more of a conversational spanish, not heavy with grammar thanks
  11. Better thanks, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?? I've actually gone back to school to get my credential to teach high school english. I won't begin to teach until my oldest is out of school, but it will take awhile taking only two courses a semester. My girls are thriving and we are getting used to not having contact with the family. Thanks for asking, when I posted that I thought I was on the curriculum board, I usually don't come to the general board ,but with this new format I don't feel quite so intimidated, so that's a good thing :) Sorry to hear about the farm, I hope everything gets on track soon
  12. I totally agree Robin, I appreciate these boards, SWB and Bob, and yet I feel a loss. They are not mutually exclusive
  13. What a wonderful dh! I think I'll have a cup of tea and try to regroup. I just miss the sense of community from the old boards sigh
  14. Colleen I've missed you! How've you been? I actually spent more time on the WTM boards because of the old format, but alas I still like phone calls instead of texting, maybe I'm doomed to be a dinosaur relic of the past Good to see you
