We've been doing an elimination diet here for my DD who has been having stomach issues. So, I took the chance to overhaul everyone's diet. Kind of a Whole 30 style. Saturday: Breakfast: green eggs (scrambled eggs with wilted baby spinach) & a slice of bacon Lunch: Leftovers - shrimp stir fry Dinner: Pork tenderloin in the air fryer and brussel sprouts (brussel sprouts were not very good). Sunday: Breakfast: waffle iron hashbrowns & some green eggs Lunch: sausage and sun-dried tomatoes stuffed double-baked sweet potatoes and some romaine salad Dinner: planning for buffalo chicken chowder

My oldest DD will be taking next year off of college. We only have 2 kid bedrooms (and 2 kids still in high school), so my MIL has offered to let DD live with her for the year. What things would you discuss ahead of time in order for this to be a good situation? Money? Cleanliness? Etc? DD may have full run of the basement (partially finished) that MIL never uses, but DD is having knee surgery in May (she'll be here living with us for the summer while recuperating), so she may be unable to navigate the stairs. She may end up in MIL's sewing room, which would be more of an imposition than having a guest in the basement. DD does not currently drive but is planning on getting her license as soon as her knee heals. So she could do errands for MIL as well. Notes: MIL lives about 20-30 minutes away from us, so it could be that DD could come here for the day when MIL needs a break or something. MIL is in fairly good health, but she is in her mid-80s, so definitely slowing down.

I bought similar this week, fairly rural Northern Illinois: 1 gallon milk $2.49 1 dozen eggs $2.55 Edit: forgot the avocado - $1.94 package of 3 Romaine hearts (did not buy - looked them up on Walmart's site): $3.86 apples$1.48 per pound is the cheapest (which is what I bought, most were $1.75-$1.99 if I recall correctly) bananas $.45 per pound I am not currently buying wheat, so I didn't buy bread or spaghetti, but Walmart's site says: Bakery isn't an option at walmart, but a loaf is about $2.69 16 oz spaghetti $1.58 Barilla brand

I'll have to look into Thrive. I haven't. I do use grocery pickup from Walmart, then hit aldi and hit the specialty store for only those items that I can't get elsewhere.

Yay for tax refund!! Thanks for asking about DD. She's feeling somewhat better. Not 100%. But I think it's tamped down the inflammation maybe? Nope, unfortunately, the grocery store I've been shopping at doesn't do a gas deal. It's the only place that carries some of the specialty items (coconut based yogurt, sugar free bacon, etc). Other than that, I've been using Aldi and Walmart. I hate going to 3 places each week, but I'm determined to save some $.

Gas is below $4 a gallon here today! Whoo-hoo! I don't want to talk about grocery prices. With us doing an elimination diet for April, my grocery budget is busted and then some...

My first house had a huge window into the front bedroom, which I did not use. I put one of my dollhouses right in front of it and decorated it seasonally. My neighbors loved it, mostly because previously it had been a college-aged man's bedroom decorated with half nude women posters and a Confederate flag (in Northern IL of all places).
