  1. My oldest wants to go through the readings from the study guide that Concordia publishes (we are LCMS Lutheran) so we are going to be doing that. Nothing too formal but something to get us doing something everyday.
  2. I am going to get my first block of the month quilt starting in February. I am excited by that. I have another quilt that I need to make as well. I also have a third quilt that just needs to be basted, quilted and bound. I am also working with my oldest who wants to learn to quilt. Aside from that, I am sure I will be making clothing for my boys and probably a few for someone that we foster. Last placement I made 2 blankets and a sweater for. So I am sure whomever we get next will get at least a blanket if not more (probably much, much more).
  3. I am just about done with today. I am going to update my blog, but with the snow today (they said a dusting, it was at least 3-4 inches) and the CPR class not to mention we exercised today, I am exhausted. Thank goodness I had the coffee with dinner or I would be asleep right now. I did talk to DH and we decided that contrary to what Flylady says, we are going to rotate between our pantry and refrigerator every month (so each will be hit every 2 months) and clean it out. Normally it is being done every 6 months to a year (pantry year, refrigerator every 6 months... sometimes less) so this would be an improvement. Tomorrow church is later so I will post a new thread in the morning. :) Beth I think you should go through the paperwork and save what you know needs to be saved and anything you would toss, put in a pile for your DH to go through. Then put that stack in a box and give it to your DH. He can deal with it and it isn't cluttering whatever you are trying to declutter! ;) I have actually done this before... though it is better to do things together.
  4. Beth look at that zone cleaning thing I just got. https://www.etsy.com/listing/573343611/zone-cleaning-planner-cleaning-schedule?ref=hp_rv It is really great! I colored mine and it has plenty of room for all items that I would need to do in each zone. If you would like I can try to make a video of it really quick. ETA
  5. My to do list for today: Breakfast lunch dinner snack hot spot bedroom Get ready for step 3 on Accountable Kids lesson plan (need at least 3 weeks planned) organize pantry (can't find anything in there!) fix blanket update blog measure window sill height to see if Costco shelf would fit Laundry exercise :scared: Take CPR class I started preparing my blog for the Flylady Baby Steps. I know my mom is interested a bit in this and maybe my mother-in-law would like it. With my blog I will be updating it the night before so I think I will be updating this the night before. I think in order to keep this thread going for everyone, I will post twice. The top post (thread starter) will have all of the daily missions and such in it. The second post will have the baby steps that we are working on. That way you can find what you need right away. As always we can continue with our lists to do everyday (so I guess I will have 3 posts at the beginning! Nothing like a spammer! ). Let me know if you think I should do this another way.

Here are some great Family Fun Time ideas for you: A movie at the local theater A picnic in the park A few games at the bowling alley Family Board Game Night There are endless possibilities for you and your family to share. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): None Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): None Holiday Clean Up mission - Today you need to take the time to clean up the Holiday leftovers. As in the Holiday food that is leftover in your kitchen that you just haven’t gotten rid of yet. It might be stale cookies or the little ziploc bag of turkey that has been pushed to the back of the refrigerator!! The last piece of pie that no one is going to eat or the mashed potatoes that are now on their way to becoming a science project. Take 15 minutes to get rid them! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  7. We are restarting using the Accountable Kids program again. I started it several years ago about a month before I had my youngest. Sadly when my youngest was born, it went out the window and I didn't restart it till now. This will be the 3rd week of 4 weeks to start it up again. So far it is going really well. I had my oldest ask us to start cleaning the house about a week ago (he doesn't get i-pad till chores are done). My youngest a couple of days ago said he couldn't do something because it didn't say it was time on his peg. You can find more about the program by going to www.accountablekids.com They have video on there that talks about each of the steps to implement the program.
  8. Yeah I think I am going to make cards for the kids to do hot spot cleaning, 10 fling boogie, 5 minute room rescue. I figure if they do that enough times, eventually they will have a perpetually clean room. One can only hope!
  9. My to do list for today: Breakfast lunch dinner snack hot spot bedroom Children's mission for the day - I organized their closet told them to keep it that way. Get ready for step 3 on Accountable Kids Condense holiday goodies so table can be moved lesson plan (need at least 3 weeks planned) organize pantry (can't find anything in there!) fix blanket update blog measure window sill height to see if Costco shelf would fit I thought I could get away from laundry today, but nope! I am washing my sheets. :) exercise :scared: My youngest has appointed Friday as "Pizza and Movie" night. So at least I know what we will be doing tonight! Oh and my 16 year old sister (yes I have a 14 year old one too... I am 41) says she wants to go to Denmark as a foreign exchange student. So I referred her to Diane in Denmark's You Tube channel. Do you think she will like all the cleaning videos? Our father could only hope!
  10. Good morning Flyminds! Welcome to the Flylady support thread. To find out what Flylady is: http://www.flylady.net/ You can also find people on YouTube if you search for it. We have completed the baby steps found here: http://forums.welltr...nday-october-1/ We have also completed a Building a Control Journal series found here: http://forums.welltr...-16-tue-oct-24/ If you would like to share your small accomplishments on instagram, please do so at #wtmflylady We will start the baby steps again January 1, 2018! So if you are a lurker, find us then! This week the Flylady is focused on Zone 5 the Living Room. Friday - Clean out your purse/car and date night! We use each Friday as our De-Clutter your Purse and Car day. This only takes a few minutes and saves us lots of time later. Without the candy wrappers, old receipts, and other trash in your purse, finding your car keys becomes a breeze! Removing all the clutter and trash from your car ensures that you won’t be hit by any UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) in the event of a crash. Set aside a few minutes just for these two tasks each Friday. Here’s a list of things to toss: Old gum and candy wrappers Soda bottles Scraps of paper/old receipts Drive thru bags and cups Jackets/coats/shoes Set your timer and get to it. Friday is also Date Night. Relationships have to be nurtured. If not, you are going to wake up one day when the children are grown and not know the person you chose to spend your life with. It is up to us to make sure we grow together! Now don’t think I am going to leave out you single people! We all have relationships! Some are marital and others are friendship. As for those friendships that you have let fall by the wayside because your home was too messy for people to come over, it is time to pick up the phone and just say hi! Relationships are not just inanimate objects; they are made of people with feelings. When we open up our hearts and let someone else in, we become better people! We can’t just ignore the relationship and expect it to stay the same. People need attention! You need attention! If you give it, it will come back to you! I promise. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): It is our last day in the living room/family room so, today we are having a fire drill! If you have hot spots brewing, lets get them put out quickly before they start to flare up and out of control. Grab those magazines, shoes and papers that tend to magically appear. Grab a trash bag and fling anything that needs to be flung! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to play Hide and Seek! We are going to seek out all the stuff that is hiding underneath our beds! Set a timer for 15 minutes and get to it. Pull one thing out at a time, if you love it and need it, put it away where it belongs. If you don't love or need it put it in a give away bag. If it is trash, put it in the trash can! You do not have do all of it today! Just for 15 minutes! Holiday Clean Up mission - For today you are to take 15 minutes and put away any decorations that you can. If you are leaving your tree up until the 6th that is fine, but put away what you can!! If you have knick knack type decorations, holiday candles etc., that can be put away, then help yourself out now to put some of them away. If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  11. You should think about taking it again Beth. It is different now with the AED machines everywhere.
  12. I found out today from the state that I will more likely get an infant if I have infant CPR training. So guess what I did? Yep I have spent the last 2.5 hours doing online training and Saturday I will go in for final things to get my certification (with DH, thankfully I could find a sitter on this short of notice!). I am actually a bit surprised. It has changed a bit since the last time I had this. Now I feel old. :( But at least it is done till Saturday. Since DH will be doing his 2.5 hours of online training tomorrow, I think tomorrow will be more or less a work day for me. The only difference is, tomorrow I do DH's work clothes and he doesn't have any of those to wash tomorrow so NO LAUNDRY!!! YAY!!
  13. Welcome Emily! I am sort of in vacation mode still. So while I am doing laundry, I am not really doing a ton else. DH is home and he is on vacation so I feel like I need to be. LOL
  14. Good morning Flyminds! Welcome to the Flylady support thread. To find out what Flylady is: http://www.flylady.net/ You can also find people on YouTube if you search for it. So if you are a lurker, find us then! This week the Flylady is focused on Zone 5 the Living Room. Thursday - Errand Day! Thursday at FlyLady is Errand Day. We use this day to get out and run whatever errands we need to do for the week. Make a list of wherever you need to go and whatever you need to do during the day today and then get to it. This can include: Grocery shopping Doctor appointments Dentist appointments School shopping Dropping the clothes off at the cleaner And tons of other things. If it needs to be done outside the house, today is the day to do it. Make a list of these things and check them off as you do them. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Now you had to know that if yesterday I had you look up that today I would have you look DOWN! Pull out the vacuum cleaner and get into the corners and along the baseboards. If you don't have carpet, get the broom up against the baseboards and into those corners. Get behind and under the furniture. I do not mean that you should move heavy book cases or entertainment centers to get behind or under. Just take care of what you can! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to declutter the tops of our dressers. You know how we can just pile things on our dressers and they start to get cluttered and messy? Today we are going to fix that! Let's set a timer for 10 minutes and see what we can get done! If you have things that need to be put away, put them away, if you have things that need to be thrown away - throw them away! I bet all of you can do this really fast, I think that all of you will be able to do this in less than 10 minutes! Holiday Clean Up mission - Today spend 15 minutes going through some of the decorations that you did not put out this year. We all have those boxes of decorations that we don’t use all of. Take 15 minutes to toss out or give away the ones that you just don’t use anymore, don’t like or are no longer useful. Let’s make sure that this year we de-clutter our decorations and it can start with just 15 minutes! If you didn’t use a Holiday Control Journal this year, you can get a jump start on next year by downloading it now as you are cleaning up after the holidays. You will see lots of things to make notes about. Either use your old Holiday Control Journal or start with a new one. If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  15. No but you need a good bladder. My mom went to NYC on NYE and she saw people like cattle in little corrals and they couldn't escape. This was in the afternoon. It was awful. This was just what she heard.
  16. Mine is off white and I honestly don't mind it. I would likely get the same color (or close to it) if I had to redo it. I like the white window frames with it and trim that is a different color (terra cotta in my case). I live in NJ. I do have one side of my house that is under a tree that looks a bit dirty but I am rarely on that side of the house. LOL
  17. Do you have to drive? I have taken the train out there and would do it again in a second! It is a bit faster and then you can rent a car and explore the wonderful state of Washington.
  18. Okay I made use of those templates that I got the other day and I finally got them into my travelers notebook. If you want to see what they look like they are here: If you want to know how they were made, I ran them off on my printer. I used the copier portion of my printer as well. I took scrapbook paper and laminated it for the cover and then I just used a thumb tack and made holes and sewed it together with needle and thread. All told it cost me about $1.50 for the new scrapbook paper as I had everything else on hand... that isn't including the cost of the templates. ;) Okay need to catch up on the rest of my stuff that I need to do today. LOL
  19. I had a BoJo last year but about June I decided to go to a travelers notebook. I needed the ability to add and subtract things as I needed. So far it has worked great and I had room to put all those things that collect in a purse in one spot. I have posted about this before but here is the video I made of my system. I am adding things right now to it, but it is more or less the same as this. I needed daily's as there have been times that I had too much going on to fit on my monthly calendar. My biggest problem with the BoJo was the time I needed to do things EVERY week. I needed something simpler for that.
  20. Wednesday - Anti-procrastination Day! Each and every Wednesday is Anti-Procrastination Day for FlyLady. This is a day that we take care of things we’ve been putting off. You can use this day to take care of any procrastinating you’ve done. You can do things like: Make doctors appointments Finish that report for work Work on a project with your child Clean the fish tank You can do whatever you need to take care. This is the day to stop putting things off. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): It is anti-procrastination day and today we are going after the neglected areas of our living room/family room. Grab a feather duster or dust rag and go after the tops of door jams, tops of pictures, molding, windows, corners of the ceiling and the tops of your curtains. Now Do not get obsessed and start tearing the room apart. Just look up and dust! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to go into our rooms and pick up any clothes we have laying around on the floor, our desks, dressers or chairs. If they are clean - put them away, if they are dirty put them in the dirty clothes basket or hamper. If there are too many to take care of all of them in 15 minutes, you can do this tomorrow too as a bonus challenge! Holiday Clean Up mission - Today you are to just spend 15 minutes putting away the new Holiday gifts that are still hanging around. If you have the empty boxes and directions to things still hanging around get rid of or put away what you need to save. Set your timer and work fast, then sit back and celebrate what you have done. If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  21. I got: Daily Health Planner - I needed a daily scheduler and I normally have the 24 hour clock on my phone (a side effect of my kids taking German, they use the 24 hour clock). Daily Routines - For Flylady Weekly Routines - For Flylady Zone Cleaning - For Flylady To Do list - This is actually redundant. I didn't need to get it in hindsight Today I have been trying to get my insert for my travelers notebook done but I must be tired as I have failed twice now. Grr!! I am blaming holiday brain. LOL I can see how this is going to help me a lot though! That is once I get it into my notebook!
  22. I am in week 2 of restarting it with my boys (4 weeks are needed for full implementation). So far is is going really well. I last did it with my older son 1 month prior to having my younger son. It went well then. I am doing it with all of my kids and got an extra board for when we have a placement as we do fostering. I have used it so that my 9 year old now does all the swishing and swiping everyday. He isn't perfect, but I am not looking for that, I am just wanting him to clean the bathrooms everyday and gradually I will get him to hit the spots that he misses now (3 boys in the house with DH, the toilet is sometimes just a suggestion  ). Next week I am going to incorporate homeschooling into it and have ODS have certain subjects that he has to do in the morning (the hard ones for him) as part of his morning chores. The other subjects he can do whenever before his night time chores kick in. I will not lie, it hasn't been easy this week with Christmas, but, we are still doing well. There is a bit of effort involved but it isn't too bad. If you are unsure about the program, I suggest you get the book and go from there. You can do the program without all the stuff, but you can't do it without the book IMHO. I did try to do something like AK before I got the program way back when. It didn't work. The book gives you the tools you need to make sure it works for your family. Without the book you can do something like it, but if you run into road blocks it may be difficult to continue.
  23. I didn't see that but I did see the holiday clean up in my inbox today. I thought about posting it but didn't want to get people confused. Maybe I should.
  24. So I ended up getting some stuff from this Etsy store yesterday. https://www.etsy.com/shop/PrintsComeTrue?ref=l2-shopheader-name I didn't have time to really play with it, but I am going to today. My hope is that I could combine everything into a monthly calendar/habit tracker for my travelers notebook. There is a problem I didn't know I had, but that could help simplify things for me and that is always a good thing. :) For $12 I couldn't really say no. Today is a normal day for us... albeit with DH home. I did get a load of laundry done yesterday (yay me!) and I plan on continuing that today. With DH home this week I will have a day off from laundry this week as 1 day is set aside for his work clothes in my rotation schedule. Well I guess that brings me to my list... which I haven't thought about really today. breakfast lunch dinner snack update blog splice together Christmas videos laundry grade those silly papers lesson plan make travelers notebook insert move clutter to basement return light to Costco get DS to do German homework have fun I think that is enough for today. :)
