  1. I just turned on my computer for the first time since Saturday. My house is not a complete mess but isn't far from it as we are under restricted water use (EPA check out where I live!!!) However that is better then it was because we were under a boil water and restricted use. So the toilets are all yellow and I don't even want to think of the grime in there. Whatever is next week, can be pushed back, my bathrooms need to be clean. Also I am about to run out of clothes so I have my son helping me with laundry today. I can't restrict my water for a week. This is January. NO ONE is watering their lawns around here. We did get our Berkey water filter on Saturday though. Thankfully just in time for all this nonsense on Monday. I am still very weak, if I move around too much then I spike a fever, but I seem to be doing better. If you read nothing else of what I just said, read this take this flu season seriously!! This is nothing to mess with and it really not fun. I had my flu vaccine as did my children and my DH and we still got hammered with this. My youngest still has a sporadic cough and he was about 5 days ahead of me. And this cough isn't a little cough it sounds like he is coughing up a lung (he is 4). It is awful! Please watch out for elderly and stay safe. I am going to call my 89 year old grandmother today to make sure she is taking precautions. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and thank Beth for helping taking over for the last few days. I should be able to get on here tonight (God willing) and post a daily thread again. I will not be cleaning normally again for a while yet, but updating these threads should be in my ability.
  2. I am battling a fever between 102-103.9. I also have mild pneumonia. I will do these daily thread again when I am feeling a bit better. Hopefully soon.

  6. My mom has been to Fantasy Fest a few times (I think... I know at least twice) and that is crazy but Fantasy Fest isn't going on then and only happens in Key West. So I would say you are not crazy and it should be fun! So go and have fun!
  7. Yeah I have spent months looking at courtesy vehicles and none of them seem to be red. They are white, blue, black, grey or some other color like that but not red. I am sure red will look like a fire truck but hey, YDS wants to be a fireman! Also when we got the Odyssey (12 years ago) I wanted a red one but HATED the red that year. It was too orangey so we got a brown one. I am a person that likes color (our other car I picked out before DH and I met and it is periwinkle) so we need a van with color. Not to mention our long term goal is to get an Airstream and the red with an Airstream would look great together!
  8. Get the mop I have, I love mine! Oh wait you wanted a quick mop right with no bucket? Here is my mop if you want to know what I have. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WSWGVZQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Today I would like to accomplish: breakfast lunch snack educating ODS educating YDS hot spot bedroom clean stove top (30 minutes in zone) wipe down pantry door (forgot this yesterday) DH's laundry update blog 30 minutes of ME time Make sure both boys are ready for German order quilting supplies get cabinet ready for water filter That is all I can think of for now. Hopefully that will be good for today. Tonight is pizza and movie night so we are going to get pizza from Uno's and watch Grand Tour tonight. Funny how today turned into that. Too bad DH is gone every Friday night but the boys still love Friday nights. :)
  9. We took a trip to Florida (about 1000 miles for us) with 3 kids and I felt like it was tight in my Odyssey. We are licensed to foster 2 children not just 1 so I worry if we would even be able to take a trip with our Odyssey. We also like to camp and we can't camp right now with the cargo capacity of the Odyssey (and more then our 2 children). So we need something for that. We also have grandparents that visit us as none of them live close, the ability to fit all of us in one car is appealing. I just want to get a red one as I worry about people thinking it is a courtesy vehicle if I were to pull up in front of a hotel and wait for grandparents. :yikes:

We use each Friday as our De-Clutter your Purse and Car day. This only takes a few minutes and saves us lots of time later. Without the candy wrappers, old receipts, and other trash in your purse, finding your car keys becomes a breeze! Removing all the clutter and trash from your car ensures that you won’t be hit by any UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) in the event of a crash. Set aside a few minutes just for these two tasks each Friday. Here’s a list of things to toss: Old gum and candy wrappers Soda bottles Scraps of paper/old receipts Drive thru bags and cups Jackets/coats/shoes Set your timer and get to it. Friday is also Date Night. Relationships have to be nurtured. If not, you are going to wake up one day when the children are grown and not know the person you chose to spend your life with. It is up to us to make sure we grow together! Now don’t think I am going to leave out you single people! We all have relationships! Some are marital and others are friendship. As for those friendships that you have let fall by the wayside because your home was too messy for people to come over, it is time to pick up the phone and just say hi! Relationships are not just inanimate objects; they are made of people with feelings. When we open up our hearts and let someone else in, we become better people! We can’t just ignore the relationship and expect it to stay the same. People need attention! You need attention! If you give it, it will come back to you! I promise. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday):Today is our last day in the Kitchen! For today I want you to grab your broom and your mop. Sweep your kitchen floor really well and then mop. There are several ways to mop a kitchen floor and no real wrong way. Hot soapy water and wipe. There is no "perfect" mop and no "perfect" way to do it. Just Do It! Don't obsess and get caught up in perfection! It won't matter if you don't mop the way your Mother did as long as you do it. Remember House work done incorrectly still blesses your family! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to play Hide and Seek! We are going to seek out all the stuff that is hiding underneath our beds! Set a timer for 15 minutes and get to it. Pull one thing out at a time, if you love it and need it, put it away where it belongs. If you don't love or need it put it in a give away bag. If it is trash, put it in the trash can! You do not have do all of it today! Just for 15 minutes! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  11. Thank you everyone! We are not getting it because of it's fuel efficiency. We want something that will tow and hold 3-4 kids. A plus is that it doesn't cost $60K new. I am just not an SUV person. I much rather have a van. I also love that it has only one sliding door for my kids to get in and out. So I think it will meet our needs well. 360 miles between fill ups is better then I feared. I was thinking 300 miles.
  12. That is scary when you realize that you need to go through things. We have a day of reckoning with our deep freezer soon. I am not looking forward to that. We think about tossing things every year but this is the year we have to do it. We will do it when we defrost the freezer.
  13. I know that this vehicle is a commercial vehicle and therefore doesn't need to disclose estimated MPG ratings, but I am wondering if someone here has done the math on their own. I am looking more for highway (not towing) MPG if anyone knows. We want to get one in the next year and we are going to have to travel with it soon thereafter. I am just wondering how bad the millage is on it. Also about how many miles do you go between filling up when on the highway? This will tell me how to plan said trip too. Thank you for your help!
  14. Okay I have been out of it for the last few days. It seems I am not alone either. So I am drawing a line under the last couple days and going to start today on the right foot! I woke up not feeling great but that could have been because I slept on the couch as DH is now coming down with something that sounds like it is different then what the boys have. However I feel better right now so lets see what I can get done! If I can turn today into Tuesday (sans swim class) I will call it a good day! 30 minutes in the Zone Did 1 hour to catch up a bit. laundry laundry put away laundry in the dryer hot spot for 5 minutes what's for dinner breakfast lunch snack 30 minutes of work on computer call about getting credit for CPR coarse educate YDS Decided to do another rest day for him. educate ODS Though I am trying to get him to do another day of work so he will not have to do it over the weekend update blog 30 minutes pamper time (cutting out fabric). Turned into about 3 hours. But I got all of it cut out so now I can have fun and put it back together again. ;) I think that is good for today. Lets see if I can rock this day!

Thursday at FlyLady is Errand Day. We use this day to get out and run whatever errands we need to do for the week. Make a list of wherever you need to go and whatever you need to do during the day today and then get to it. This can include: Grocery shopping Doctor appointments Dentist appointments School shopping Dropping the clothes off at the cleaner And tons of other things. If it needs to be done outside the house, today is the day to do it. Make a list of these things and check them off as you do them. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Your mission for today is to set your timer, grab a trash bag and throw open the door to fling out the science projects, holiday leftovers and don't forget to check out the vegetable/fruit drawer. I am usually guaranteed a piece of fruit with a little fuzz on it that needs to be tossed! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to declutter the tops of our dressers. You know how we can just pile things on our dressers and they start to get cluttered and messy? Today we are going to fix that! Let's set a timer for 10 minutes and see what we can get done! If you have things that need to be put away, put them away, if you have things that need to be thrown away - throw them away! I bet all of you can do this really fast, I think that all of you will be able to do this in less than 10 minutes! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  16. Nope it doesn't say anything about VP. SECTION 1 No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President, when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term. At least I am not seeing it. Also you run into issues if you say that the VP is "running for president" as we have had several VP's that served for 8 years then ran for president on their own. Gore, Bush 41 come to mind. Look I am NOT an Obama fan (I will say right now I would NEVER vote for this ticket) but I don't see anything to stop him from being VP. Though I do think this issue would go to the supreme court and they may not see things as clearly as I do.
  17. I think she will and will likely win. I am not seeing anyone else that looks serious on the D side of the aisle. I know I have seen Biden but he will be what, 80? And he has more gafts then anyone else in recent memory (sans maybe Prince Philip... but I am talking about in America). That would be fun as a candidate  . Then I have heard of Elizabeth Warren running. I don't know that much about her. I just think that baring some one new taking center stage this year (as 2020 election cycle will start next year), she would be the best hope for the Dems to win in 2020. I good sign that she might be running is if she starts showing that she is interested in international affairs. I think this is her BIGGEST weakness. She is well known here and maybe as a talk show host overseas, but I don't think I remember her being well versed (or even marginally well versed) in international politics. Something that she can't even say "Well my businesses took me international" yeah she made a girls school in Africa but I would hope to see more in any candidate. I also can't remember her taking any interest in the military. Maybe I am wrong, I really haven't paid attention to her since I was a kid, but this is what I see. Now she could overcome this by saying from the git go that she would appoint former president Obama to her VP or Secretary of State position should she win (presidency or nomination), but that would be a whole other story! I am saying this as a libertarian leaning conservative.

Each and every Wednesday is Anti-Procrastination Day for FlyLady. This is a day that we take care of things we’ve been putting off. You can use this day to take care of any procrastinating you’ve done. You can do things like: Make doctors appointments Finish that report for work Work on a project with your child Clean the fish tank You can do whatever you need to take care. This is the day to stop putting things off. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): After reading so many of the SHE Shouldn'ts on the website, I decided that your mission for the kitchen today would be to check your stove tops and ovens for things that should not be there. You are not to be using your oven as a storage place for ANYTHING!!! Check the tops of your stove and the area around it to make sure that you do not have anything that will melt or catch on fire. Now, once you have done this, grab a rag and some general purpose cleaner and wipe down the top of the stove, the knobs and the door of the oven. Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to go into our rooms and pick up any clothes we have laying around on the floor, our desks, dressers or chairs. If they are clean - put them away, if they are dirty put them in the dirty clothes basket or hamper. If there are too many to take care of all of them in 15 minutes, you can do this tomorrow too as a bonus challenge! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  19. I agree with everyone else. I have barely done anything today. I am not concerned. Even when I feel like I am behind in school I try not to worry about it because at the end of the day, it isn't the end of the world. Do what you have to do and let the rest sort itself. I am glad you are getting help. I am sure that will ease some pressure you have in other areas. Oh and I am going to put the steps in a post that will be in the top of the daily post when this is done. So you can refer to it whenever it works for you! ---- It is nice to see some of the snow melt. I am loving how quiet my house is right now. :D Now if I can just find the energy to do something useful!
  20. Kids sick here. I am trying ANYTHING to not get it. Plan went out the window. They are quiet now so that is good. 3 more hours till meds need to be given again. Lets see what I can do. At least the snow is melting. :D

So you take your busiest room in your house and spend 5 minutes decluttering it. Morning Routine: Get up and get dressed to lace up shoes; fixing your hair and face Looking at your posted reminders in kitchen and bathroom Read any messages on Flylady website or emails Recognizing the negative voices and changing them! You are flying now! Put out any hot spots for 2 minutes 5 minute room rescue (pick any room in the house) set your timer and go! Before Bed Routine: Keep your sink shining Lay out your clothes for tomorrow * Put out your hot spot - optional but always a good idea to do it twice… easier to wake to a clean house then a dirty one! Need more inspiration? https://youtu.be/7Ru9qs9oixA https://youtu.be/L2ufHsqh-sI It is amazing what can be done in 5 minutes. I would get the kids involved and see how much they can do with you. 5 minute room rescue that 4 people do turns into a 20 minute room rescue for the price of 5 minutes! Meal planning, lesson planning, activity planning, holiday planning, or anything else. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Back to the kitchen we go! Your mission for today is to wipe down the doors of your cabinets. Use a damp rag and wipe down the fronts and the edges of your cabinets. This is really a simple thing to do but we have a tendency to ignore the cabinets because there is always so much more going on in the kitchen. Finger prints and grease attach themselves to the cabinets and make them a little sticky. A good wipe down will make such a difference. Remember we are taking babysteps! Small little missions that add up to a shiny kitchen. Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to do something that might be hard but that is okay. You can do this! You are going to go look in your rooms for 11 toys that are either broken or missing pieces that need to be thrown away. Get a trash bag and toss them! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  22. My 4 year old runs around just playing legos. There are some hopscotch rugs if you need another play rug. I would look at Lakeshore Learning and see if you could find something that would fit into your house.
  23. It is okay! Tomorrow is a new day! That is the great thing about this, tomorrow is always a new day! :D
  24. Our Costco has one that they have had for a while. That is the one I have. It has a travel size one that is good for travel and then a bigger one. I have been happy with it for the year+ that I have had it. This one looks like it but I could have sworn Costco had it the last time I was there (in the last week, I should set up camp there I am there so often). https://www.amazon.com/Waterpik-Flosser-Traveler-Storage-Accessory/dp/B00MOPL04O/ref=sr_1_18_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1515431498&sr=1-18&keywords=waterpik
