Tuesday - Planning Day - This could be anything that needs to be planned. Meal planning, lesson planning, activity planning, holiday planning, or anything else. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): The Master Bedroom! This is the one room that seems to get things tossed into it when you can't find any other place to put something away. Your mission for today is to set your timer for 15 minutes and gather up some things that just don't belong in your bedroom. Spend 5 minutes gathering and 10 minutes on a delivery mission to either put things away or toss them in the trash! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to do something that might be hard but that is okay. You can do this! You are going to go look in your rooms for 11 toys that are either broken or missing pieces that need to be thrown away. Get a trash bag and toss them! 3. Interesting! Thanks for the info on Hello Fresh. I think I hit a wall around 2 and I am useless now. Well I have been useless since 5 but really I am now. Time to get the new thread up.
  4. Ivar's!! I dream of Ivar's. I am from Washington state. I am from the SW part of the state so I would also throw in Burgerville, but that is because I think it is amazing that you can get a fast food hamburger that is organic! Then again I love it because I grew up with it. They are a chain that I think is as far north as Centralia. This would only be if you are visiting Mt Rainier and you come back that way. If you go south more to Mt. St. Helens area they are more numerous. Oh and I love Seattle Fudge Taffy. I have been known to order it for out here. It is in Seattle Center. That is all the food that reminds me of my childhood. LOL
  5. I am also doing 3 loads of laundry today. I had to get those sick infested sheets off my bed! I know I need to conserve water but I can't have piles of dirt everywhere! I have looked at Hello Fresh but have never ordered. I can't get past the fact that I worry it isn't enough for all of us. My older son is starting to eat more then me and my younger one is at me most nights. I feel like having 2 boys with DH and I means we really need servings for 5. I am sure this feeling only gets worse with time too. I hope your meal turns out at least take out well. :)
  6. Welcome! We start new threads everyday so feel free to join them whenever you would like!
  7. I second going to a dermatologist. I have had really strange conditions with my skin twice in my life. Both times it was dermatologists that figured out how to "fix" it. Neither seemed like they were "dermatological" but they both really were.

Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today is the day to attack the clothes pile. Now you all know what I am talking about. This pile is either on a chair, on top of the hamper, dresser or at the foot of your bed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab some hangers or start folding. While you are doing this do not hang up or fold something that you hate! This is the time to let it go. If you do not love it, send it right out the door! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): We are taking a walk! Let's walk through our houses looking for 10 things that belong in our rooms and put them away. If you have left any shoes, jackets, school things, toys or books around the house, now is the time to return them to their home. When you leave your things around the house, it makes the house look messy. Let's grab up the things that belong in our rooms and take them there. If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. 10. Well done today Beth! I finally got my hubby back I am happy! Tomorrow is a normal day so this should be fun.
  11. We have been sick. We haven't been to church in 3 weeks. I feel awful about it but I would feel MUCH worse if an elderly member got what we had. I wrote the church last week to tell them what has been happening.

  13. Since 2 people think I am odd, I will address their points. Yes my children spend hours away from me. They just spent 2.5 hours away from me today. However they never spend days away from me. Well never may be strong, VERY rarely (neutropenic fever and giving birth to the younger one for my older one). The younger one has never had 1 night without me. Though he was frozen for over 5 years so maybe that means that he spent 5 years without me?? When they are ready to fly the nest (and I know they will) I will deal with it. But we are a very close family and they are each other's best friend. I see no reason to change that. ETA Historically, the only people that would leave their child for days at time were the very wealthy or people that had to for extra ordinary circumstances. It wasn't common. And the child would get married and leave the house. I don't see how my position is much different then that.
  14. I be the voice of decent. I wouldn't do it. NEVER. I wouldn't want to do it because I don't want to go home and say to my children we saw X and you would have loved it. Also I can't be without my boys. I had to do many cycles of painful, costly IVF to get them. I would have separation anxiety if I did it. I know I would. I would not be able to enjoy the trip (I have ruined trips before when I didn't want to go and I went "for my own good"... though I was 10 at the time). If we couldn't all go, then just DH would go and that would be that.
  15. All of the posts are from when I did this back in October. There are 2 videos in each post (till later in the cycle). This one just had her first. It was random but I think the rest have Diane first. I am actually surprised they both don't show up. Not sure why, maybe because of the length of the post?? Doing better today. I think I can start flying on Monday (hoping for blessing hour tomorrow still). I think next week is bedroom right?? Sounds right. I don't touch my boys room (DH's job), the girl room is clean except for some clothes that I need to sort (15 minutes needed really) so that just leaves our room. I would love to vacuum under our bed but that is REALLY wishful thinking. So it really will not have a lot, so hopefully I can "catch up". Here's hoping. I have been making the boys do chores today so they are not as out of routines as they could be. Just need to remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. I have a tendency to do too much then feel guilty when I can't achieve it. :( Lurkers Any lurkers this should be a lesson for you too. Sometimes life, illness, children getting fingers stuck in something, or whatever makes it so we can't Fly for a day, week, maybe even a month or a year. DO NOT get discouraged! Sometimes I am SURE it seems like Beth and I have "it all together" I can't speak for Beth but I can assure you I don't always have it together. I like to organize things but that is the most together I am. So just jump in and do what you can. Don't worry about control journals, routines or anything like that if it overwhelms you. Just do what you can. If it is JUST make your bed and get dressed in the morning. Then that is something. Do that for a few days and try to add to it. Eventually you may feel YOU need what we call a control journal. But do it on your schedule. The same goes for stumbles every now and then. Go back where you need to. Then move forward from there. ;)

  17. Sorry I didn't talk today. I HAD to go out and get some food today. Seriously the case worker comes to the house at least once a month (when you have a placement). They have to make sure we have a flushing toilet, hot water and food in the refrigerator. Although I didn't always know when she was coming my fridge is normally PACKED. Before I went shopping today, I had shelf space. That terrifies me! When I came back I had the woman who owns the house next door, tell me that that her house had been vandalized! Scared the **** out of me! Then I realized that how they did it would be impossible at my house. So then I felt a bit better... but I still am not going to tell DH till he comes home. ;) So that was my day. I would love to say that I would like to start cleaning tomorrow, but with the boys German tomorrow I would be lying. So I am not going to say that. I have high hopes for Sunday since I can't go to church with a bad cough like I have.
  18. To me any oversight (other then what is already in place in several states) that is above and beyond such as home visits is a waste of money. What are you going to do? Tell the Smith family that you will be at their house on May 3 at 10 am? Yeah you know what will happen even in the evil household that that those poor children in California? They would pull it together and everything would look fine. Surprise inspections would be the only way to deal with any of this. And even then that to me would subject us to potential "unlawful search" that we can't have due to the constitution. I say this because they would only be there to make sure I wasn't abusing my kids. You would have to hire more people that actually deal with abused kids to go and check out these homes. Yeah there is a spot where they are flush in cash and have the time and resources for this. :glare: To me the media needs to stop calling these people "homeschoolers" and call them what they are really "non-schoolers"

Friday - Clean out your purse/car and date night! We use each Friday as our De-Clutter your Purse and Car day. This only takes a few minutes and saves us lots of time later. Without the candy wrappers, old receipts, and other trash in your purse, finding your car keys becomes a breeze! Removing all the clutter and trash from your car ensures that you won’t be hit by any UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) in the event of a crash. Set aside a few minutes just for these two tasks each Friday. Here’s a list of things to toss: Old gum and candy wrappers Soda bottles Scraps of paper/old receipts Drive thru bags and cups Jackets/coats/shoes Set your timer and get to it. Friday is also Date Night. Relationships have to be nurtured. If not, you are going to wake up one day when the children are grown and not know the person you chose to spend your life with. It is up to us to make sure we grow together! Now don’t think I am going to leave out you single people! We all have relationships! Some are marital and others are friendship. As for those friendships that you have let fall by the wayside because your home was too messy for people to come over, it is time to pick up the phone and just say hi! Relationships are not just inanimate objects; they are made of people with feelings. When we open up our hearts and let someone else in, we become better people! We can’t just ignore the relationship and expect it to stay the same. People need attention! You need attention! If you give it, it will come back to you! I promise. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): It is the last day in the bathroom and laundry room! Congrats on working hard all week! For the bathroom you are to shine your tub and sink! This is not hard, just shine them the same way you shine your kitchen sink. Do not obsess, just scrub, spritz and shine. For the laundry room, wipe down your washing machine and dryer. It is amazing at how dirty these machines can get and we don't even realize it! No big deal here, just grab a general purpose cleaner and a rag. Spray and wipe. That is it! Do not get sidetracked with this! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today is such an easy challenge that I bet all of you can do this in under ONE minute!!! Go to your room and empty your trash can. That is it! SO Easy! An overflowing trash can makes your room look messy! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  20. I think what it is is that people don't angle their lights to the road when they install them. When I was living in Massachusetts this was part of the inspection process. I live in NJ now and there are few places around where you need your brights on. No one around me should ever have them on. But I am sure people have them on. I am not sure what the answer is, but I agree it is a problem.
  21. We got a 2007 EX new. We still have it. It doesn't have the back up camera, not sure what year those started. It does have cloth interior but no sun roof or things like that. I actually really like the cloth interior. I am not looking forward the next van having leather standard. :( The cloth has been easy to clean, doesn't get hot, doesn't get too cold, you never stick to it. I don't see the upside of leather. I do have dual electronic sliding doors. Honestly I am looking forward to having manual door in the next van. Less to go wrong. Don't get me wrong, I like pushing a button and allowing my kids to run up ahead and them getting in before I buckle the (now) 1 in the seat. But I have also had issues with the doors. They don't always like opening. Grease normally helps but you need to find the EXACT spot that it is needed and often times for me that means I spray WAY too much in it and have running down my car for a few days. :( However at the end of the day, I would go with the color you like and the price you could afford. All of this stuff is just levels of comfort. Who knows you may find your dream van is a 2013 that is priced unbelievably!
  22. I honestly don't sweep my floors after meals. I don't think it is needed. My kids are not particularly neat eaters but whatever they drop the dog cleans up so fast that it isn't like they dropped it. I think her goal is to get people to have a clean house, not a perfect one. The washing of dishes Diane in Denmark talks a bit about. You put dishes in the dishwasher as you use them. Anything else you either clean and put away right away, or you do all of them right after dinner before you shine your sink. I looked at the app but I am more a pen and paper gal. :)
  23. Well I am not doing anything major today but I have managed to: Fold and put away laundry Bathe one child I have the other one shoveling snow. DH couldn't get to it last night and I am in no position to do it so he is taking it on. I think anything he does will be an improvement and when the sun hits it (afternoon) it will be doing much better.

Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer. Pick up after yourself. If you get it out, put it away. Don’t try to do two projects at once. ONE JOB AT A TIME. Don’t pull out more than you can put back in one hour. Do something for yourself everyday, maybe every morning and night. Work as fast as you can to get the job done. This will give you more time to play later. Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It is contagious. Make your mind up to be happy, and you will be. Don’t forget to laugh everyday. Thursday - Errand Day! Thursday at FlyLady is Errand Day. We use this day to get out and run whatever errands we need to do for the week. Make a list of wherever you need to go and whatever you need to do during the day today and then get to it. This can include: Grocery shopping Doctor appointments Dentist appointments School shopping Dropping the clothes off at the cleaner And tons of other things. If it needs to be done outside the house, today is the day to do it. Make a list of these things and check them off as you do them. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Your bathroom mission for today is to assess your supplies in the bathroom. It is errand day and make a list of the items that you need to stock your bathroom. Do you need toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, soap or shampoo? Remember, nothing says "I Love You" like having enough toilet paper! For the Laundry Room, do the same thing. Do you need laundry soap, bleach or fabric softner? Once again, nothing says "I Love You" like having clean underwear! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): We are going to do what is called a Hot Spot Fire Drill! This is when we look around our rooms at the flat surfaces of our furniture. The desk, the dresser and the nightstands. These are the places that we will just pile things on instead of throwing them away or putting them away. These are the Hot Spots. To help us clean these places up we are going to do a Fire Drill. We are going to set a timer for 5 minutes and see how much and can throw away and put away off of those Hot Spots. Ready.. set.... GO! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  25. Laundry and blessing hour are key for me. Tomorrow DH is going across the country and will not be back till Sunday evening, but I will make sure we do the blessing hour, especially if I am well enough to mop. I am going to start a new thread, It may look a bit wonky and feel free to still use this thread since it is so early. :)
