  1. How long does it take to get used to a new car? I just bought a new to me car last night. Driving around in it all day the seat just doesn't feel right. I've adjusted it every which way I can. I have five days to return it but would feel like an idiot and would annoy my husband to no end. On the other hand, we drive our cars til they don't run anymore and I don't want to be stuck with a car that is uncomfortable for years. what says the hive? Is this just normal getting used to it or should I return it?
  2. I used to be very involved with Habitat for Humanity. We would work with a couple youth groups and train them before missions trips so they were at least somewhat skilled. I'm not a huge fan of missions trips though for the reason most have mentioned. So many seem like glorified school trips. I've donated to a few kids who are close family friends. In general though I don't like the whole idea of asking others to pay for my kids' activities (sports, troops, etc) I like how one of my son's teams does it- participation costs x. If you are able and so inclined you can give more to help the kids on the team who might not be able to afford it. The team pulls together to help everyone. My church does the same thing with missions trips.
  3. This is such good advice!! Only in the past few years have I realized what a huge difference the wand shape makes.
  4. I love ulta too. I've also bought from drugstore.com's beauty.com part if you don't have an ulta near you or just don't feel like driving. Lol! Just don't buy from amazon.com random sellers or eBay. Yikes. Nasty knockoffs. I thought I just got a bad one but it turns out that it is a huge racket. People sell these knockoffs that have turpentine, lead and other nasties in them in packaging that looks like the original. You'll be shocked, shocked, to know that these lovely people aren't big on returning your money either.

  6. Start with the ones that have good test/return policies. I think you can test before you buy at most department stores. Younique is full money back refund. I've heard some people say they have successfully returned at drugstores.
  7. I love that look. That is similar to what I do too (only it doesn't look that good! 😂).
  8. I use Younique 3D. It keeps the curl in my "visor" lashes and I can use the fibers to give them length and volume. It's water resistant so it comes off with warm water and your face cleanser. Eta: most drugstore mascaras irritated my eyes. This one doesn't. I used to use Mary Kay because theirs didn't irritate but it didn't stay on as well or lengthen.
  9. Fb really does make it easy to not annoy people. I have a fb business page. I've posted about it on my personal wall once or twice in two years so that if anyone wants to shop they can like that page and get updates. I keep the rest of my business on my business page and my personal stuff on my personal page. I have unfollowed certain skin care and pink drink selling friends because they post sales non-stop on their personal page. That's no longer a personal page. That's someone trying to skirt the fb rules and sell on their personal page. And it's annoying.
  10. I might have to unfriend someone over that. 😂😂😂 But I completely agree with you on the rest.
  11. Wow! Huge results!! And I totally agree that you don't have any loose skin. You are beautiful - at any size. Congratulations!!
  12. Excellent response!! Way to keep it classy and polite. Would be nice to think the stark difference would open her eyes.....
  13. I think it's a matter of how you share it and who you share with. Telling real friends - great. Friending everyone and pitching to them- not good. Sharing the positive benefits you are getting - great. Telling people they are ugly/old/fat/unheathy etc and should use your stuff - not good.
  14. Full disclosure: I'm in a Mlm business. I would NEVER do that. And I train my team to never do that. So tacky and hurtful. Actually I won't be a part of any weight loss/"health" companies because I think they prey on women's insecurities. I teach fitness classes and get asked almost weekly to join them. Ugh. No thank you. Especially not one particularly hot selling weight loss patch that has caused five women to get dizzy and almost pass out in my classes over the last month. Yikes! I've had friends tell me I should get off my thyroid medicine and take their overpriced probiotics. Um, yep. That was my problem. And one "friend" continues to tell me how much I need to try her miracle anti-wrinkle cream for the bargain price of over $100 a month. Yuck. I just love having a friend tell me how old and ugly I am so she can make a buck off me. Congratulations on losing weight! That is a huge accomplishment. Please enjoy it and don't let this woman's rude comments take any joy away from you!!
  15. Thanks! And I like the price point too. $2.50 works for me.
  16. That is an excellent point. We have several international grocery stores but even then we have been making substitutions too. Thank you for your recs and the laugh. Please imagine all of my posts punctuated perfectly!
  17. We loved that book! He has cooked his way through that and passport on my plate.
  18. My middle son loves cooking-especially as a way to learn about different cultures. He is a fairly advanced cook and loves different spices and ingredients. What are your favorite books or sites for authentic recipes from different countries or cultures?
  19. I love having chickens and looked into beekeeping. Check around your area. Usually you can find other hobbyists who are willing to let you come over and learn. As far as honey, when I ran the numbers it was much cheaper to just buy local honey. Not as fun or educational but way cheaper!
  20. Too pretty a day to argue with you. And since you don't seem to want to discuss but rather have an issue with me, seems best if I bow out.
  21. Clearly I am not understanding your posts or what you are trying to say. I had not read it as it sounded as though you were asking me if I had ever heard of the Little Ice Age. I read it now and see that you are trying to show that that could have been caused by man. If you had said that I would have read the link in the first place. It's an interesting idea. Currently the data supporting it is a little thin- even your article states "Of course this isn’t concrete proof that humans caused the Little Ice Age, as others in the field point out. Events such as volcanic eruptions, solar flares or even colder ocean currents could also be at play." But it's certainly an interesting take and worth digging into more. This study about volcanic activity triggering the little ice age is compelling. http://www.colorado.edu/news/releases/2012/01/30/new-cu-led-study-may-answer-long-standing-questions-about-enigmatic-little
  22. Sure I've heard of the little ice age. If you had read my previous post you'd see I actually listed it. I agreed with you that climate change can and has been disasterous. I was clarifying if we are discussing manmade climate change or not. If we are talking about manmade, then we can look at what human activity we can alter. If we aren't then we need to be looking at how to prepare and deal with the potential consequences. But the discussion is different depending on which we are referring to, imo.
