  1. Here is another vote for DVR! We skipped right over it (and the Fergie performance).
  2. :iagree: Therein lies the root of the problem and why it may never be solved. For someone who thinks homosexuality is choice, and an immoral and sinful one, riding on a subway full of openly gay adults when you have small children with you, children who may not have been exposed to that yet, could be a very uncomfortable situation. If you do NOT believe that homosexuality is a choice and/or a sin, then this might not be a problem for you. OF COURSE what these people said was rude. How can ANYONE argue that? Rude words are rude words no matter the situation. But we cannot judge her level of comfort with the situation because we cannot all even agree on the root of the issue.
  3. I completely agree with this. And I work in public education even though I am disgusted by it. How's that for the great paradox of my life?
  4. I thought of another one...my husband's grandparents gave us a bottle of scotch as a wedding present...it was already opened and about a third of it was gone.:lol::lol:
  5. To me, it is more important where your EYES are...putting on mascara requires taking your eyes off the road whereas talking on the cellphone does not (I am against texting while driving...not even sure how one would do that!).
  6. That is a story all on its own! :tongue_smilie: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90027
  7. Did you see this thread: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98990 It seems to be an epidemic around here! :grouphug:
  8. I really like it and the screen size does not bother me at all!
  9. OK, that was just plain funny. :D I agree that there are LOTS of things people shouldn't do when they drive...like put on mascara, beat their kids, use their laptop, smoke, engage in sexual activity (all of which I have personally witnessed). People eat in their cars, men shave, kids fight, movies are playing, radios are blaring, etc. etc. etc. I was rear-ended by a girl changing her radio station. I would not mind if they mandated hands-free, I guess. But the bottom line is that cell phone is just as (or no more) risky than all those other distracting behaviors. Other than driving with both hands on the wheel, no noise whatsoever, and completely alone...there are going to be distractions. Let's not pick on cell phones.
  10. The only position not yet filled is for a 5th grade teacher...interested??? :D
  11. :D http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85503
  12. We will be there two years to start. You can come any time you want!
  13. Ummm.... a key chain of a pig and when you squeeze it "fake" poop comes out of its butt battery powered socks a t-shirt from Mexico that said "Coma Caca" (look it up) a first aid kit Oh, I could go on and on. These are all from my in-laws. They also give my children weird gifts like last year they gave my 10yo a fire-safe box (the kind that adults keep all their important documents in). :001_huh:
  14. Yes. We will have internet access (and they bought me a new laptop). We have signed up for Skype to stay in touch with family and I just started a blog: http://www.fischerfamilyadventures.blogspot.com I will still be here on the boards too!
  15. Yes. It comes with a living room set, dining room set, and 3 bedroom sets. We bring our own linens, dishes, and what-not (which they pay to ship).
  16. We got pics this morning of our new home in Malaysia. It is a 1600 sq ft. condo with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and amazing ocean views from the living room and master bedroom (attached). The bedroom pic was taken at sunset so it is kind of hard to see the ocean...but wow....I really don't know how I got this lucky. :D
  17. We watched the first 5 minutes. When the one girl said something like "You would think all the boys in school would be lining up to TAP THAT" we turned it off. We don't do vulgar talk like that.
  18. I had 3 nieces all born at 27 weeks. All are beautiful, healthy 4 year olds now. You would never know they were born early.
