  1. His B vitamins were normal. His Vit D was low, so we are also taking D3. He tested very sensitive to gluten so we are avoiding that as well. I guess the constant sickness just worries me.
  2. MY thirteen year old was diagnosed with very low ferritin in April (it was an 8). Symptoms had been ongoing and were; extreme fatigue, weakness, depression, "heavy" limbs, shortness of breath. Along with those symptoms, this winter was just one long sick-fest. Seriously, he had one cold/flu after another. And they lasted at least twice as long as everyone else's illnesses. He would run low grade fevers with everything etc. He has been taking iron. The longest he goes between "feeling sick" is about 7 days. He gets this nerve/skin sensitivity right when he is coming down with something. I've read that a seriously low ferritin level can cause a tanked immune system. Any others with experience to share to help this momma feel better? They ran a bazillion blood tests and said everything else was fine except that he can't have gluten.
  3. I've never actually seen this video BUT I wonder if you all could discern whether someone with reoccurrent lower back issues and weak wrists could handle it? My back flares when I try to stregnthen my core, and my wrists feel sprained after being on my hands/knees for just a little while :glare:
  4. Ours once wwoke me up when we were surrounded by tornados. I had been watching the weather, but they said that we were in the clear...so I went to bed. About 30 minutes later, she was jumping on my face(never does this). Turned on the TV and there were three swirlies within about 5 miles of our house. \\elle
  5. I get this exact same thing. It has to do with acidity in me. I go on a bland (like only brown rice and steamed veg) for a week or so. When it hurts...bananas work best. I find it happens at times of high stress or during tomato season;)
  6. She will still be nursing if they are still together. It may just eat after the others ones are done. Is it lethargic?
  7. Thanks! She is nearly 13. I will check out those options
  8. She sounds JUST LIKE ME at about the age of 11 or 12. It is VERY unhealthy for her to worry about you so much and it IS hurting her worse then you know. I was dx with an anxiety disorder later in life. My life would have been SO much more pleasent if my parents had sought help for me. PLEASE get her some help ASAP!!!! Don't make her go. DON'T make her feel guilty, she will carry this for life.
  9. My daughter, who is naturally muscular is starting to round out with puberty...still tiny, but I'd like to give her a routine to help her stay strong and toned from a young age. Goodness knows how hard it is to try this after it's too late! Any recomendations? I'm thinking all areas in rotation (lower body/core/upper body) She would thrive witht he physical activity and strength. Elle
  10. Is he not getting much sleep(being summer and all?) Lack of sleep makes my boy have them. Also stress. AND allergies do seem to aggravate the whole enchilada(stress/sleep/tics).
  11. This happens to me when I am fighting something off/have a virus. I always assume it is a tonsil. Have you looked at them? Mine hurts only one one side or the other and resolves on it's own.
  12. How do you strain the yogurt? I need details!!! :)
  13. This is not true of churches of Christ, at least. They believe the children are not born saved...but innocent. The age of accountability could be argued to be anywhere between 9-20...I think it differs with each person. They must completely understand WHAT sin is...that they are a sinner and in need of the blood of Jesus...confess him before men...AND be burried in the water of baptism FOR the remmision of sins....AND remain faithful until death to be truely saved. I thinkt hat a VBS trying to get as many kids to get "saved" as possible is very dangerous. A false sense of security (ie-once save always saved) mentality.
  14. This thread got me thinking.... We are consevative Christians, but at the same time--serious nature/animals lovers. I've heard many different Christian views on 'where animals go when they die'. I've recently had to think about this more because my daughter(who is super sensitive about animals) was crying and asking if animals get to go to Heaven. I was able to piece together a pretty good answer about God's mercy, and that He loves all of His creation and I'm thinking...based on what I know of God....that they go to some sort of "reward" or peaceful place...based on the theory that animals can't CHOOSE Jesus over the world or vice versa. Based on Biblical princiles...what do you think about the critters? elle
  15. Sciatica. ICE. Maximum motrin every 6 hours. See a chiropractor for a full round of treatment. DO NOT ignore it. You don't want permenant nerve damage from the inflamation.
  16. they would likely already have hopped away before you could relocate them. A little dog would helpt o keep them out of the yard!
  17. I am wondering if anyone has gone from Christian Light math to teaching textbooks. MY daughter is at the end of Math3 and wants to switch(although I think CLE has to be the BEST math there is!). She dreads it, although she is very good. I'm thinking the change will help her to rediscover loving math(her former favorite). What I am wondering is if I should get TT5? I switched my son from CLE to saxon awhile back. He went from Math 4 in CLE to saxon 6/5. Could have gone to 7/6...but I wanted some review etc. I was fairly shocked to see that CLE was seemingly more advanced than Saxon! Thanks, Elle
  18. yes et help now. He likely has an anxiety disorder. At his age he can get helpearly, although he will likely always have some irrational fears. This can be connected to OCD as well. Poor guy! I hate to say it but a temporary antidepressant may snap him out of it. elle
  19. During both of my pregnancies I had a 7 day stomach bug. They both got better when I went in and got Iv fluids. Strange but true. I would at least call. E
  20. I appreciate the responses. I will say the the asperger thing JUST dawned on me.....and I have then thinking "what an awful child" all year. There kept being things that were just "not normal"...but I've never had experience with this. I think I will not make her sit out. I do feel so sorry for her, although she is a huge source of frustration for me and the other kids. I'll talk to the director also, if she will be enrolling next year. Thanks everyone. Elle
  21. Let me start by saying that this childs mother has never led on that her child is anything but maybe a little in need of more social training. She has ALL of the characterisics of a child with aspergers, according to what I have read. She speaks in monotone, rarely makes eye contact, has great difficulty playing with anyone else, speaks with large formal words, does/says mean things to/about other kids-but then says that those kids are doing it to her(and I really think she believes her own lie!), takes EVERYTHING literally, can't function with out meanness in group/competative activities, has an unusual clumsy gait and the list goes on. I feel so sorry for her! At the same time, i am a teacher in a co-op class that she is in, and I am wondering how I can handle the situation of group work with problem solving. Her mother is aware that she struggles during this time, but the other children are really paying the price. If she gets out of control(which I know is hard for her TO control), should I make her sit out? I feel bad doing that, but as I said, the other kids are having a hard time dealing with her inability to interact appropriately with them:confused::confused::confused: Her mom is not in class with us. She is 10 Elle
  22. I take one pill that has mag zinc and calc in it if I'm feeling low(muscle spasms). It helps. I would take supliments.
  23. I strongly recommend getting hormeone levels/vitamin levels checked. That being said; anti-depressant meds are usually used for 6-12 months to hel pyour brain re-normalize after trauma leading to depression/anxiety....let me tell you I've been there. I was SO against meds at first, but once I found the right dose(I kept on telling my dr that I wouldn't go up any more-but finally relented) IT WAS LIKE A MIRACLE!!!!! It took coming out of the fog to really see where I had been. I feel like ME again. I also have had a 85% decrease in the back pain I have had for over 12 years! i also do fish oil and lots of vitamins. HTH!!
  24. My daughter master her facts QUICK just using our CLE and flashcards....my 9yo son is struggling to memorize facts. Really struggling. He thinks very mathmatically, but has begun to hate math because as it progresses, it takes him longer to "get" a concept. Well, multiplication is the worst! I'm looking for suppliments, games etc to help us master the facts so we can move on. We are pretty much stuck until he gets them :( :bigear: Thanks!
