I would love to get DD into series of somesort....but i dont think thats possible at her level. Today she brought home her kindy report card and it had a reading assessment in it. They use the mClass: Reading Assessment. IT says that she is reading at a DRA level 10. i honestly dont know if thats good bad or what :) I would love to find some books for her to read for the summer. wow i cant believe i am remebered! thanks!, i had to send DD to school, she needed it, i was prego, DS is a VERY active child, not sure even where to start....but i do regret the year off. she enjoyed it, i guess i did, but she is lacking the disapline she needs, now she doesnt respect me as a teacher either. its a mess over here!!!! then i have all these books i dont know where to start.lol. i dont know where she left off in K, i mean she is reading great, not sure what scale they used though. but it was level 10. they called them level readers. she loves to spell and write in a journal, but she def needs help with spelling, which i assume is typical for a 6 year old. now ds, ha another story.... i thought the fiar or Bfiar would be good for him, they both like crafts, and when i read to them, ect. I FORGOT HOW STRESSFULL THIS IS!!!! i was also thinking some cut and paste kumon books but those are alot $. then there is printing activities but DH doesnt get happy that i always need new ink.... So after a year of PS i am ready to get DD back to where she needs to be. I let her go to K in PS so that she could socialize...i know im so bad. :) so we are going to do (she is 6 entering 1) R&S arithmetic 1 (maybe horizons) AAS ETC (i think we left off on 2 1/2) writing in a journal and reading... and i really want to do FFL but im broke:tongue_smilie:so wont be. i am not sure if thats enough, or should i add OPGTR?? i wouldnt know where to begin though. from PS she was bringing home level 10 readers, whatever that means!:lol: DS is 3 going on 4 and ready to begin. So i have a choice of phonics pathways, OPGTR, HOP, and 100ez. I used 100 ez with DD, but i dont know it wasnt concrete enough...but did ger her reading fast.... i am goung to also do HWT with him....and i need to find math.... he knows letters by sight and what sound they make.... here is my thing. i was thiunking of doing FIAR. can FIAR be good for a 3 year old (4in sept) and a newly 6? i thought it would be a fun summer thing to do with them, along with learning things, they will get to craft, hear me ect.... my dilema is that it is alot of $$. is it worth it? and i know to some its not alot of $, but, for us even 5.00 is. any advice from the hive is THE BEST

Which would you choose??? DS almost 4 is ready to begin something, and i have 100ez (which i used successfully with DD, but wasnt thrilled with the program) phonics pathways and opgtr. he knows letters and sounds, but isnt a kid that sits for long periods of time.... just if youve done it once, and had all 3 programs, which would you choose???

yeh dd couldnt read all her colors for her teacher so she was put at a lower level. she said she didnt know enough SIGHT WORDS!!! but she can spell and read better than alot of first graders. lol. she just spelled BOO in her sleep. it was so funny, my kids ready for halloween

again thank. DD missed 3 days of school for being sick, my sister said "did you get the work she has missed" i was like are you kidding, im not worried about what she missed. im gonna stop tlaking to the teacher, and just keep doing what we do. aas, ETC, hop1 and just reading. im 4.5 month prego, no time to bother fighting. im gonna let her have fun at school and learn at home.

thank you for all the replys. we are going to continue at home and let her feel confidence through school. she is doing etc book 2 now at home, aas, and lots of reading to me. i have a confrence set up for nov. so ill stop talking to the teacher till then :)

okay, so dd had a reading test. she is in K. now i know how well she can read and i know where she has falts. her teacher said she is at level 1. whatever that means. so she gets her first book home today, it is a complete joke. look at the frog look at the alligator look at the snake it goes on. now the only words are look at the..... and there is a huge picture of the animal for the blank. its bothering me. and the more i talk to the teacher the more i am bothered. i told her we are doing aas, and she was like oh we dont do spelling, and they start with short vowels in 1st grade. i just feel like she isnt being challenged, should i set up a meeting for keep her reading at home at a challenging level, and keep doing her aas ect. i even had her do the first few weeks of a faux spelling test i got off the 1st grade classroom websight and she got them all right. now she is in a k/1 classroom, but they dont allow the higher level kids to move into the 1st. its some weird program.....just need advice

i know i should be happy for her, but i had planned on homeschooling. some of you may know, we have been around the board for awhile, and ive hs her since she was 3, but now at 5 she asked to go to K in ps. so i let her, and she loves it. i miss her so much. so she is in k, reading around a k-1 level, she hasnt had her test yet....we took all summer off and she really forgot how to read alot. how much afterschool work do you give a k. i mean she is sooo exausted, i cant imgine her willing to work! i have her read a simple reader but i want to continue with aas where we left off, although i think ill just start again...we only got through a few steps months ago... well any impput please respond. im now home with ds, about to be 3, and the baby growing in my belly :) so now its his turn!

i am considering and hoping to find the rightstart games and cards used, she LOVED playing 'games, so that might be a good start,...is the essentail math like the earlybird? we had that and it bored her...thats why i sold it...but maybe it will be more fun and she can build guidance. i wish i kept it! what about barnes and noble....just pick up a simple book?

YES! My dd has gone to an Intergrated preschool for 2 days a week for 2 hours and it has made her SO acceptable to any difference in others. We have a severly autistic 3 year old family member who doesnt speak, and she has yet to notice anything different about him. He is SO into Gabriella too, always wants to be with her, and its great that she doesnt see him as different.
