  12. He says he wants to do something new..... Money charts ect
  13. We also skip alot of the activities and are Doig 2-3 lessons a day
  14. Am I missing something? I have my 5 year old k Doing this. We are halfway through book 1 ad he hates it. They haven't done any addition in school but we have been doing it at home. Does it get better? It's easy right now for him, and we do the math problems orally cause he just doesn't wanna write the answers. I feel like we are doing flash cards out of a text book. I'm going to get math mammoth for my 2nd grader in the sale, should I get him grade 1 and go slow? Ps- we now homeschool full time as of this week and I can't imagine Doig this everyday.
  15. honestly I am not sure exactly WHAT i am looking for. I keep seeing so many things about reading good Littature. My dd is in 2nd and we officially begin homeschool next week. (well out of PS). she reads for a good hr or so free reading from a chapter book before bed. rght now she started the series "the tail of Emily Windsnap" I would like to incorporate more reading for her with some GOOD quality books. the lit guides ask questions, is that what I am understandnig? although she is in 2nd she reads easily at a 4-5 grade level.....
  16. I need some easy creative ideas for 20 month old to do during school! during trial day she watched leapfrog way too much!!
  17. Anyone remember what the "deal" was?
  18. I DROPPED OFF MY KIDS LOI TODAY!!!!!!!! Their last day of PS is the 11 !!!!!!! I'm sooooooo happy to have them home with me again!!!!!
  19. So how much printing is there? How do you organize it all?
  20. ny laws ..... I have read reread them a thousand times and I'm just dropping my loi off to narrow!!! I'm afraid I won't cover the proper history or the right science!
  21. She did do writing, I just hadnt gotten that far in the day. She read 2 chapters of her free reading book "The Tail of Emily Windsnap" Which i know I could have her read "better" litature but she is reading so i am going to go with it. Anyways, she wrote a full summary on the 2 chapters. its a bit over a page long. I HAVE to add alot more for the NYS requirements. I have to add science, and History (which I WANT SOTW SO FREAKIN BAD, but right now funds are not allowing and my library doesnt have it) The NYS requirements are for 1-6 arithmetic, reading, spelling, writing, the English language, geography, United States history, science, health education, music, visual arts, physical education, Education Law, sections 801, 804, 806 and 808, also require the following subjects to be covered during grades kindergarten through 12: patriotism and citizenship; health education regarding alcohol, drug and tobacco misuse; highway safety and traffic regulations, including bicycle safety; and fire and arson prevention and safety. when I look at that, i am soo unprepared!!! I dont even know what I would put on her Ihip for that stuff! lol. A wonderful momma on here is sending me some things but I have to get it first to know what I have and dont have We are not starting TOMARROW, although i want to, I have not sent in their LOI yet :( I wanted the letter to say their final day for PS to be January 25, the end of the second marking period. that way I am only required to send in 2 more quartly reports. I am afraid if I dont wait till that date they are going to want more???? Im bringing the letter to the distrct tomarrow! we went to the library this afternoon and got some books. I took out a magic school bus book that i can start to do a small science with them and a whole bunch of books from the begining of SOTW1, although i havent gotten it yet :) overall it went well. I feel bad my toddler did watch alot of TV though....i was at a loss what to do with her! Ds played his leapster which i really didnt mind cause he really has learned so much math facts.... i try to cut him slack cause he is a young 5, turned 5 in sept...so a young PS Kindergarder
  22. The kids didnt want to go to school so i am keeping them home and we are going to do a trial and error type day. I dont have all their things yet so i am kinda winging it. That being said for DS who is K it only took 45mins to do math, handwriting and reading???!!!!! IS THAT ENOUGH??? we did about 3 lessons in R&S 1 for math, we did alot of just going through the math facts orally and i wrote the answers since we did this right after Handwriting Without Tears. He did like 5 pages of that.... and then we did about 3-4 lessons is OPGTR to get trhough all the short a words since he can sound things out.... thats it? While he was doing this I had my ODD who is grade 2 reading her book in anther room. Then I started with her. We did math from a public school book that my sister gave me for a bunch of lessons, 45 mins worth. Now i have her working on a map skills book by herself. Then I plan on having her do some math practice that involves simple math facts and coloring the answers by number type of thing. then a reading Comp page i printed out. and then I have nothing as of now for them for science or history....or grammar for my dd.... I wanna get ETC 1 for Ds. I think he will benifit from it. MY ODD did those before K year and I loved them.... add to what i need to do!
  23. im interested in this too. My dd7 reads and hour or 2 before bed from her "own" chapter books. she just started the series "the tail of Emily Windsnap". ITs fun books for her to read. Now I want to have her read real quality litautre but not sure HOW to get her to do that....
  24. so DS5 is in K. He is begining to sound words out, not more than 4 letters. he knows some "sight" words from public school. I have 100ez lessons, OPGTR and phonics pathways. I am thinking OPGTR is the most concrete although i have never used it. Where would I start in the book? also, any recommendations for white boards???? they have to be cheap
