i think i was looking at the Daily review workbooks...

so I took a stop in Barnes and Noble today and browsed the workbook section. Mainly just to see what there is to get through the year until i can finialize my curriculum for 3rd grade for next year and to get us into homeschool routine. These looked like good workbooks but I was hoping to get the Hives insight. This would be for my 2nd graders im taking out of PS.

I do like the looks of math mammoth and will be printing the test. My other option is my sister is a 2d grade teacher and gave me her schools text and homework book that I could use to finish the year... Now I'm not sure about wwe3 or 2 and what about fll2 or 3. She knows all the punctuation rules ect..... I look foward to sotw and will usenet for my K child lightly as well. Reading i will have her read good quality litature. I know that whatever we do at home is gonna be alot better thn in school..... Which is basically nothing

what subjects are everyday? what are once a week, twice a week ect......

Her comprehension is excellent. Even harder grxt she grasps what she has read. So "reading" can also be through our history and science lessons? Wwe I think will be great since she loves to write stories and essays....fll will help complete her grammar. And maybe I'll get a spelling workbook or even just print out spelling list.... That's what her ps teacher does!

She is reading at a end of 3rd begin in 4th fade level. I'm confused about the whole "reading" subjects. I know fll covers grammar, wee cover what and then what is the "reading"'for?

i feel like a box curriculum isn't worth half a year and figuring out where we are. I'm thinking SOTW WEE3 FLL3 elemental science I need a math..... and I need a reading right?

my daughter is in ps2 nd, and I'm pulling he out Jan 25- she is advanced for 2nd. I don't know what to buy for just half a year and I am running out of time!!! I am in ny and they are pretty strict! I'm frustrated an overwhelmed

I think we are past phonics.... she can read pretty much anything fluently, in public school she tested at a 4TH grade level

okay this correct? second grade I need to cover math science English grammar handwriting spelling history doas it matter what science or what history we touch on?

it's the price that seems practical and the fact that we are comming out of public school maybe the redundant review will be good

I already have everything I listed except the SOTW. I have the other books....including AAS, HWOT, PP, startup science

anyone feel like this are good? I had someone get one for my son for his Christmas present, he is getting the leapfrog ExplorerGS. He is very into video games, loves the lego ones on the xbox, and really is a gamer. He is 5. I was hoping this would give him an educational video game outlet..... games are expensive!!!

okay this could work I also have the TA for Begining Arithmetic1 second edition from R&S and I would just have to buy the 2 student books student book. blacklines and speed drills? I thought that was just for 1st grade :)

once again he is comming out of PS Jan 25. please tell me waht to change what to add and BE BRUTALLY honest! Math- up in the air Phonics- Phonics Pathways....i think Handwriting- HWOT Science- Science Start Up - Books -1-4 Speling- AAS1 History - American History for Young Catholics - this will be for my 2nd grader but i thought he could tag along? ( I REALLY REALLY want something different but i have this book already. Id rather SOTW 1 for them both but I have to have $ to buy his math and my ODD Math, science, and LA

okay so I need some help. I know im probably driving everyone insane with my post but I HAVE TO! I have the teachers guide and book2 of HorizonK. I could get him book one and start somehwere in that.... or I can buy a whole new math pogram for him? They havent done much in school other than learning nimbers. He plays a game on my phone and he is adding and stuff, simple things math facts up to 10 with +1 or +2 and he knows things like 2+3, 3+3 ect. ITs something we have been working on but not consistanly

awsome replies thank you! I agree about PS math being very gappy. she is very very good with her math facts, i mean very good! Where would i have her take a placement test? she can write creative stories , actaully just started one called "The Last Wind" She completely understand a paragraph, topic sentence, supporting sentences and closing. she is also very careful with punctuatoion i still dont know where to begin with this child! my son is easy :)

so I am pulling them out! so excited so scared WHOOHOOO! anyways, I have a bright 2nd grader. reads well, math well, loves to learn, isnt challaged. VERY VERY VERY low budget since i am doing this all of a sudden. what on earth do i use? I need this all figured out for the IHIP. she reads at a 3/4 grade level, her teacher has sucked and doesnt challenge her, i have no idea what they have done for science and social studies this year since nothing has come home.....but i did email the teacher! MY son is in K. I dont have to submit anything till next year for him, NYS K isnt mandatory so thats a breeze. Im going to focus on handwriting, reading, math ect..... thank you all1 remeber the budget is close to none! but i am doing this so educate them so i dont want to take the sit and enjoy each other approach. we will do that, but i want them home to learn since they are wasting 6 hours a day in PS

for me My FAthers World would only work for grade 1. Too incomplete for the older grades....

How do you define "box curriculum For me it is all the materials for the year from one supllier. covers every subject Do you want textbooks-just-like-school? i do want textbooks and workbooks Do you want some sort of unit study, such as the Weaver, KONOS, or Heart of Dakota? No i dont "think" so Do you want something classical? not sure what this means :) Do you want something literature-based, such as Sonlight? Def a possibility
