  1. I am so glad to hear that! I was starting to feel like I made a big mistake. Thanks so much :)
  2. I just ordered Phonetic Zoo (spelling) and Student Writing Intensive, and I am wondering if I made a mistake by not ordering the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style as well. I used up all my budget for curriculum this year, and don't need to spend another $169! Does anyone else use SWI without TWSS? Does it work well?

  4. I will be using it next year. I recently purchased Heart of Wisdom (Robin's book), and fell in love. I'm already incorporating her ideas for spelling and vocabulary. I purchased the Creation, Light, and Energy unit study ebooks for science for next year a few weeks ago when they were only $7.99. I really look forward to using it full-boat next year :D She has a forum here: http://heartofwisdom.ning.com/ as well as a group here: http://www.thehomeschoollounge.com/group/hebrewroots
  5. Ariana started to read before she turned 3, so we started early. She's currently 6.5 and halfway through 3rd grade. No regrets so far! There is just no way she was going to wait 2 years before learning anything of substance. I don't expect the same from my son :)
  6. Thank you so much for sharing this. These will be perfect for us!!
  7. I am using Pre-A with my daughter, and we did the Checklist Challenge today. As we were working through it, I realized the one line they give to re-write the sentence isn't enough. For example, in this lesson, first you circle the verb. Then you change a boring verb to a strong verb. Then you add an adverb. Then you add an adjective. So each time you do this, are you supposed to re-write the sentence with the newly added words? Or, do you cram it in and make arrows where it goes? I was curious how you did this. I am almost thinking of taking half a sheet of paper, writing the sentence in the middle, and then there's plenty of space around to write the additional words, making arrows to where they should go. (IEW does something like this). Thanks in advance for the advice!
  8. Totally loving MUS. I've used Primer, Alpha, Beta, and will be using Gamma this year (which, for us, starts in a couple of weeks!).
  9. I don't see a Table of Contents sample on their website (tfths.com), but exactly how do they break up the curriculum? Is it by weeks? If so, how many weeks are included? I ordered last week, and it shipped Friday via Media Mail. I am anxiously awaiting for it to arrive. Thanks so much!
  10. I loved my Boppy, too! I actually wore it out with my daughter, so had to buy a new one when my son was born (I and I got one as a gift - it was great to be able to have one in the bedroom and one in the living room).
  11. Yes, they really work! I reuse them more than once, too. If you dry them between uses, they will last lots longer. I found that out when the soap nut bag ended up in the dryer - it was a good thing!
  12. I haven't used Truth Quest, but I use MOH and totally love it. A friend of mine uses MOH with Sonlight.
  13. This was very helpful, thanks! My faves are GrocerEaze and 2Do. I bought the full version of 2Do, I loved it that much! OnThisDay is another good one, as well as Classics2Go. Dictionary is helpful, and Mad Libs are fun. CountriesLE is full of facts about all the countries, very educational, as is Translator. CraftFinder is helpful.
  14. Thanks, everyone! I will check out that legal document punch. I saw some on Amazon, now I just have to measure and see if that is what I'm looking for. :)
  15. I found some index card binders at the dollar store (woo!). But now I'm wondering if anyone makes an index card punch? I tried searching on google, but couldn't find one.
  16. There are end-of-lesson activities but they are optional in my book. They *do* help, but you don't *need* to do them. Doing a timeline along with MOH is highly recommended. Linda Hobar (author) has all the info you need in the book. I get my timeline figures from homeschoolinthewoods.com, but you can also make your own and there are outline figures, etc., in the MOH Yahoo Group. This can be done independently.
  17. At the beginning of the year I print out/copy all the pre-tests/quizzes/etc. so once we start, I just grab it and go. Very easy!
  18. I can't wait to start Wordly Wise for my daughter this year. I don't think it's essential, but it will be helpful - and fun :D
