  1. Thanks! She got an 86 with seconds to spare today. I won't make her try again, though I know Ms. Barr encourages them to. I will get the answer key to 38 Stories. The NLE exams for translations are a great idea. She got a Gold Medal last year, hopefully this year isn't super hard. She knows the vocab in and out, all handwritten flashcards. I thinks she is solid on grammar. She just doesn't put that all together quickly and then comprehend it to answer questions. She is begging me to not take Latin 3 next year. I wanted her to take it so she could take SATII, since most of her potential college accept credit for it. For example, UNC CH requires 3 foreign language classes, and SATII credits 2. She says she doesn't care, but I know she feels stressed right now. Extra info: {For example, she studies crazy hard for AP US Gov and AP Psych and has a test/quiz ave of 90/87. Thankfully, classwork and not extra credit kick in for her final grade. In comparison, for her homeschool classes: Chalkdust Algebra 2 100% test ave and Dive Chemistry 98% test ave. I don't want her to feel overwhelmed, but most high school level classes I have tried are somwhat easy for her. These 3 online classes can be stressful.}
  2. How can you raise it? My daughter has a 98 in Lukeion 1 and an A in Latin 2a. She memorizes vocab fairly easily but has to translate relatively slowly. She panicked today bc she ran out of time on the PSQ. (Pres-semester review exam). She read through all the practice translations beforehand, but not times. She saw her speed was slow last year and I bought 38 Latin Stories. Where can I find an answer key for that?? Any other suggestions on getting faster?
  3. Also, was this Lord interested in Mrs Crawley last season? I don't remember him.
  4. What happened to Mary's 2nd suitor again? Not liking smarmy Tony anymore. Also, are we suppose to have an idea what happened to Edith's man? Did he disappear in Germany voluntarily? If not, why did he leave her in charge if his affairs and why is there more mention of that.
  5. Does anyone know this blog? I think I found the 2013 link here last year. Thanks!
  6. Ok. Thanks. She doesn't necessarily need it. She also wants to take dual enrollment Music Appreciation and Art History her sr year. So she will still have Fine arts credit electives.
  7. My daughter takes piano/theory weekly class, practices 1-2 hr a day 6x a week. She participates in 3 competitions, scored superiors in 9th and is working on this year. She is also the pianist for our church youth band. Can I give a credit, count as honors her scores and give her extracurricular for church pianist? Does competitions count only as an honor or also extracurricular. I would like to count it as a class bc it takes so much time!! Any advice?
  8. thanks for the pdf idea. I am pming you too...
  9. I am looking at Inge Cannon's Transcript Pro but not sure it works with Windows 8. We want it to include customizable boxes for AP/Sat2 scores, awards, and additional academic info to use asteriks or a notation to describe courses taken at a college, Lukeion and PA Homeschoolers, in addition to year by year courses, grades, credits etc. Excel is killing me and I really need software. Thanks in advance!
  10. I saw the College Board will post new PSAT pratice on the website by Jan 2015. The new Blue Book is available for preorder on Amazon with a late June release date...
  11. You all were right, how she filled in the student produced answers wasn't the issue even though she missed 8 out of 10! She entered into the "quick start" to retry all of the problems she got wrong. I held onto her answer sheet. As she re worked she only missed 7 total in math. Her score would be 610, of course untimed and without the full testing fatigue. She thinks her issues were: 1. forgot algebra (rectified by being now halfway through algebra 2) 2. Test conditions - early morning and longer, complete test. From now on she will take complete practice tests early in the morning to simulate test conditions.
  12. Especially if she doesn't have place value down. Lol. We didn't have a chance to check but will soon this weekend.
  13. We need to work all the problems. Everything was along the lines of "right answer 2 instead of wrong answer 2000" so we assumed she bubbled wrong. We'll know more after school. Thanks for the feedback so I don't presume anything until we are sure!
  14. Interesting. We will look through carefully again after school. So many of her student produced wrong answers fit that pattern. The exact right answer but followed by 0000 or decimal wrong place etc. Seems strange she would miss so many student produced and nothing else if they didnt mark off for that.
  15. Is there an option for Algebra 2 that my sophomore can jump in 2nd sem after Chalkdust algebra 2 1rst sem? She feels like I am helping her too much. The tests are much easier than the daily assignments and she makes As on those. Her PSAT math score went WAY down for math and she is in full panic mode. It looks like her weakest area was algebra bc she didn't review it after Geometry last year. She also missed many of student produced answers... I am not sure what to do. Suggestions?
  16. Does anyone use these? I would like to get some for my birthday but there are so many choices. Deep wrinkle serum Deep wrinkle filler Deep wrinkle night Deep wrinkle daily Deep wrinkle eye Do I layer these on my face in a certain order? Or would my skin peel off? :) Which products would you prioritize. I am 46 and starting to get lots of big smile lines and under eye wrinkles. Reading the website doesn't help much but it sounds likethis: Morning: Wrinkle filler and daily cream Night: Wrinkle serum, eye cream and night cream Sound right? Thanks for any tips.
  17. This is really oversimple and quick. I have always been the same way - more initiating, serving. I first noticed it in college. I had some friends that constantly received phone calls, invitation etc. I decided then that I was not a magnetic person - just didn't draw people into my orbit. That doesn't mean I can't develop meaningful friendships. Just that I should never compare with friends who have magnetic personalities. Never compare. Just love and serve. I am so glad my teenage daughter is exactly the same way. Very kind, loving and thoughtful - but she is almost always the initator and not the center of attention. I am helping her see the good in it. Being an observer has enabled me to reach out to lonely people, care and pray for others in trials and all kinds of things that the very popular, center of attention types may not notice. Just very brief thoughts but you are not alone.

  19. The article said "it is standard procedure for police officers to wear gloves while putting up caution tape." I don't think the gloves or tape were contaminated or inside the apartment, so it was safe to throw them in public trash can.

    Brain MRI

    For brain mri I ask for a washcloth over my eyes before they restrain my head. It really helps to NOT be able to open my eyes. I also ask for the fan turned up bc I like to feel the air blow on my face. Both of those prevent claustrophobia to the degree I don't need sedation. I have one tomorrow morning too!
