  1. Thanks. Good to have confirmation on that. Once you start over-thinking things, it all falls apart, lol.
  2. Hi! Having a complete brain blip moment here. We are on lesson 98 of year 6 for diagramming adjective clauses. One of the examples is: Saul (who had persecuted the Christians) was converted. I understand how to do the clause under the antecedent. What is not making sense to me is the main part of the sentence. The text shows this: Saul l was l converted converted is diagrammed on the line after was with a vertical line to the main line as for direct object. My brain is not wanting to let me figure out why for some stupid reason. Overthinking this way too much and now I cannot even recall what a noun is :tongue_smilie:
  3. Pam is doing well! I live close to her and we hang out on occasion, when the planets align. She is just fabulous. Busy being a great nurse and trying to deal with the new schedule, but just lovely. I will pass that on!
  4. Awww, you totally made my night. I just gave it up in order to focus on getting me in a better place, on school, on family. So I had to step back. I do check in on Facebook though. I seem to be able to jump on and off more quickly than I could here. Too many fun people to talk to and I could never walk away and have self-restraint. I miss you folks though. And thanks for making my night.
  5. I hope you can find something to make a difference. Being on a lot of meds is scary. Especially when it is our dc. Let me know what you find out. Good luck!
  6. Thanks for the nice words. I really appreciate it. I will try to give a little snippet of the book's approach and what I am doing. It is by Julia Ross. There is a Mood-Type questionnaire that helps you to identify which area(s) you may be having trouble in. The 4 most common areas (which are addressed in this book) are: 1) eliminating the depression and anxiety caused by inadequate serotonin 2) rebuilding your energy, motivation, and capacity to focus 3) how to recover from adrenal overload (heavy stress) 4) how to amplify your own comforting endorphins (too sensitive for life's pain) I am on zoloft and that seemed to help, but clearly not enough. The numbers 1 and 2 are the biggest issue areas for me. THose are the areas that I am addressing with diet and supplements to see how that works. The book gives nutritional supplements (vitamins and minerals as well as amino acids and such) for whatever areas are an issue for you. And there is more than one option for most areas too. So if one thing doesn't work, you can try others. I am taking 5-htp every night. And during the day, I am using L-Tyrosine. Those helped me right away. Seriously, I took a 5-htp one night and woke up the next day happy! I was blown away by that. I am also doing a really good multi-vitamin (NOW brand), B-complex, C, Cal/Mag/zinc. I tried the OMegas but I have issues with fish oil and need to find a substitute for that. I hope to get off Zoloft sometime this summer. I need to go to my DR first and see about a plan for that. I think that I might be okay on the amino acids without the zoloft which would be great! I am trying to make sure that I eat protein at every meal too. That makes a huge difference for me. There is a meal plan of ideas and how to eat to help improve your mood too. I lost 5 lbs right away also. If I go with the heavy healthy protein, I stay full, eat less overall, don't want junk or snacks. So that is it in a nutshell for what I am doing right now. If you ever want to chat about it, I am happy to help. And if this helps someone else too, even better. It isn't some fad thing, imo. It is real and makes a lot of sense. The book is worth owning, also, imo. Hope this helps!
  7. Hey there friends. It has been a while. I just wanted to say publicly how much I appreciate the support you have given me in the past. And I want to share my success to date. Many of you know my struggles with hormones/depression/anxiety, etc. I was getting better, but just not enough. A friend, whom I will not name but she can do so herself if she chooses, is very much like me in how she has been lately. She found a book called The Mood Cure that uses supplements and food to address 4 types of mood "issues". She had success immediately so I jumped right on it. I wanted to share that I have had 2 full weeks on the amino acids and vitamins and eating a steady healthy protein diet lower in fats and carbs (just better rounded diet) and I feel umpteen times better!!! This was the answer to my prayers. I did not even have pms this month and that is huge! Anyway, I am happy to help and support others in their quest for feeling better and am sharing what I have found to be the way for me. I feel happy, and good most of the time -- pretty much all the time now. My reactions to things are so much improved. I feel peaceful for the first time in a long time. I just wanted to share my good instead of sharing my bad. Life is really good!
  8. Wow! It has a been a long time! Of course, I haven't really been around much myself. I was wondering about you. Good to "see" you again!!!
  9. I was on a higher dose graduating down over a 3-4 week period for an optic nerve myelin coating attack in which I temporarily lost vision. The dose started as IV , I want to say around 100mg? This was pure hell. But, dosage was high to stop a bad attack so my vision would return. I have also been on lower doses for inflammation from sinuses gone wild an not responding to other meds. Those did not seem to affect me badly as the other big doses did. I recall being edgy, but not horrible. I am assuming you will be on a lower dose? And for what length of time? I have heard that it affects different people in different ways. I hope you have no ill effects from it!
  10. I will likely go with the 3/4 for the 3rd grader to be. I need to check some more into what to do with the older. I need dh, who is doing the science right now, to look into it also and help decide. I hate making all the decisions with curriculum sometimes, lol. I'll make him chime in on the science. Thanks!
  11. Thanks for your help. Dh has been doing the science with them this year to give me a break. Plus he is a scientist so I felt that would be good for him and for them. I will show all this to him to read as well so we can figure out how to proceed. This is very helpful!
  12. Older ds is in 5th grade this year. He is finishing the MCP Math series with book F this term. I am thinking of moving in to Singapore for Math next year. I have thought that I would likely try to move him through levels 5 and 6 next year. I think that some of the material in 5 would be overlap, but since he would be new to that program, overlap would be okay in order for him to be more successful with 6 and eventually NEM. What books would I need or should I get for him for next year? There are a fair amount of choices and I am a tad confused. We are a mathy family, so I don't anticipate great troubles requiring lots of extra practice. However, I do want to challenge him to really think, you know. So for a complete order, what would you recommend for him (and me as the teacher) please. Also, he has been working in Singapore MPH science level 5 this year. Our first time using this for science. The program has been redone, apparently. I don't want to re-buy the same thing I have right now. But if I wanted to continue with this series, what would you recommend I do for grade 6 given that the newly redone books are a combo 5/6 and likely has redundancies? Finally, my younger is going to be in 3rd next year. He has been folded in with older ds for the science with much less work required of him. Mainly, he is listening to the readings, doing some activities, as well as participating in some discussions. I am thinking I might do Singapore 3/4 with him but again, not sure what I want/need of the series. If you have followed this far, thanks!!!
  13. I am on the fence about what to do with science next year. This is helpful! My older ds is in 5th this year. We used MPH 5 for the first time. It seems to be going well. Issue is that if we choose this for next year, we have to get the new series with overlapping info. since they are changing the series? And my younger ds is 2nd right now. We have been folding him in to the older one's work with science and simply not requiring all the work of him. I was thinking of moving him into the 3/4 next year, but am uncertain of what I should get and so forth. What pieces of the series do you see and recommend? Would all the texts and the TMs be just fine? Or some of them but not all? Thanks!!
  14. I had some lower back, pelvic, tailbone pain a few years ago. I went to my doctor to have things checked out and to get a referral for physical therapy. I found that my tailbone was not in proper position -- too forward and to the side some. My legs are slightly off in length -- well, not the same. Enough to cause one foot to be really flat and the other to go highly arched. There are other issues too, but I was able to get assessed, treated, and worked with for the constant pain. And given exercises to do to retrain and strengthen the proper muscles in order to hold things in the right places. PT might be another thing to add in getting your friend checked out. I hope something is able to help!
  15. I heard it was related to, umm, crazy teA parties. J/K. Does it hurt?
  16. I just still think this is way cool. Mine are smaller and the bigger stuff is very scary. So awesome to see how it can actually work.
  17. Hey there! I miss you too. Just trying to focus on me, kids, dh, and house right now. Kind of got too sucked in and need to back off.

  18. Congratulations! She is gorgeous. I am glad to hear you are all doing well.
  19. Thank you! I do have a lot of room for storage now. That has been a dream for a while. Lots and lots of real bookcases!
  20. Thanks! Me too!! I am soooo glad I trusted DH's vision with doing the loft bed like he did. It is so nice a space. The boys take turns in the loft week by week. They share a room otherwise with full over full bunks. I have been cramming books everywhere and now I have loads of space to spare. It is very nice indeed.
  21. Thanks! I love that color too. It is Behr paint in color Russian Blue. I have a similar blue in my bathroom (being the only girl, I take one bathroom as my space around here!) too. It is very relaxing. Since the room is pretty small, we thought having the shelves painted white would make it feel even lighter in there.
  22. Thanks. We are doing really well for the moment. Things are most definitely looking up. I am doing my best to keep it going in that direction too. Thanks so much. I am happy and feeling good most of the time. That is huge!
