  1. I accept. I figure if someone wants to be friends with me, then I am lucky. But if you feel odd about that and view it in a different way, there's nothing wrong with that either. I have been befriended and dumped (ahem -- ramada horse lady ;)) just as a test for how things worked.
  2. LOL! I am still working various purples at the moment. I really love purple. But after the ones I am on now, and finishing one for my ds, I will go to a different color. Not sure what. I am participating in a sock challenge and plan to cast on one from the list each month. I need to finish Nov. socks and plan for Dec. And I have some winter gear I want to make for myself and for the boys.
  3. Aww, thank you! I am really addicted to making socks right now. I learned how to do socks this past spring and just fell in love with the process. And sock yarn is so yummy!
  4. It hurts a bit. My first thought, well, the one that came after *%$^&*@#, was I hope this doesn't mess up my knitting!
  5. Not smelly, but kind of slimy once I really looked at them. I decided against since the date was so long ago. I have some other veggies for on the side if needed.
  6. WHen taking the roaster out of the oven in order to add the potatoes, please remember to pick up the oven mitt to use when shifting the roaster a bit in order to better position it. Grabbing it on the handle with bare finger tips is not an ideal situation.
  7. Beth, you know your child and you know you. If you think that is best for all, then I am here to support you for that. I know you have been worried about this and that it is a really hard place. :grouphug:
  8. Oh well, I guess potatoes are all then. Might have some frozen ones to sub in though. Oohh, maybe I can find hidden treasure in the garage fridge.
  9. I have the Powershot A710-IS. We have had it a couple of years and it is a nice camera. One place to start, if you are looking at Powershots, is Cnet. You can narrow down features that you like and go from there. Or give me a ring. I have the newest best of Consumer Reports guide. I'll be happy to talk it out with you to tell you what is in there.:001_smile:
  10. Baby carrots -- organic Use by Nov. 4th. Other than obvious bad places and or smell, any issues with throwing them (picked over) in the pot with the roast?
  11. I am going to try to come back a bit more here and there. Several have mentioned they miss me and I am so touched. I do miss my friends here. But sometimes you just need some space from certain things in order to regroup. I am still up and down with things, but working on it all. I hope others of you are doing well also. I can't believe it is time for the holidays already. Yikes! So a Hello, I've missed you, and a big :grouphug:.
  12. Thanks for sharing the pics. I love to see pics of fellow boardies having fun together. Very cool!
  13. Doran is the queen of funny on her title mixing. She cracks me up. I usually scan the boards so quickly that I often misread titles and do huge double takes. Then I crack myself up with what pops up in my own head. I don't usually share because I am weird and am probably the only one that would get it.
  14. Oh yes. I have one of those. He drives me up an ever loving tree! He is 10.5 years now. And the younger is way too serious sometimes. Think I could put them in a pot and mix them up to get a nice balance?;)
  15. Those places mentioned are where a lot my stuff comes from. Lately, though, I have found a few nice, simple, knit tops at Talbots and Ann Taylor (not Loft) that were really cute for a nice price. I have had a little luck with some cute knit type tops at Coldwater Creek too. But Coldwater Creek, I have found, runs larger. I am not petite (around 5'8" and a size 8) and have gotten XS and S from there so they may not work for you.
  16. Hi. I am here very rarely lately. At first it was a combination of the yucky threads that will not be named and my own yucky moods made for a bad combination. Then, I was simply on here too much hiding from myself and life. I am trying to get to a healthier place with myself and hiding on here has not been good for that. I miss my friends, but need to balance myself. Not an easy task these days. I do check messages almost daily and do a quick scan. Thanks for missing me. Makes me feel loved. :grouphug:
  17. I have one in progress that I have been crocheting (and really need to finish). It is simple. I got some Caron Simply Soft (soft and washable) at Wal-Mart for it in a dark navy and a medium denim/country blue that I am alternating between in large rugby style stripes. No real pattern. I think I am doing a half-double stitch all the way. I do one skein in its entirety for a stripe and alternate. I think a total of 8 skeins will make a nice large blanket. The stripes are longwise on mine. I plan on doing a simple edging in one of the colors, likely the darker for a couple of rounds in a simple subtle scallop.
  18. We stopped doing things with dh's family in this manner a few years ago. Dh and I started to "buy" an animal from Heifer for each of his sisters' families in their names instead. We do that every year now. No gifts to them, but passing it on to others in need instead. My family, not so much. I have one sister who is single (soon to be married -- in May). We are all she has so we do exchange with her. I would love to cut back with the family though. It is stressful and I hate to shop. I am not creative with gift giving at all. I really wish I were, but I am not.
  19. I don't usually let them play on the computer with friends over. I make them play without electronics. They are fine with that most of the time.
  20. I only moved one desk up in to the room. It is a small room. Most of it will be filled with the bookcases and cube case things that I ordered. That's why dh did the loft. He looked at the blueprints for the house and found this dead area behind the linen closet. It is the space over the ceiling for the stairwell that goes to the down stairs. He took out the top part of the half closet in the bedroom to make the loft. He only had to come out into the room a little bit in order to make it a double bed. The kids are going to take turns sleeping in there at night until the newness wears off. One or both will use it for lessons/reading during the day. They are so excited about it! I love that space too. Now we need to figure out a ladder. And I need to order blinds for the window so we can take the towel down! LOL!
  21. Amy, I knew you rocked before. But you seriously rock now. Very impressed!
  22. Thanks! I think he did a great job. There's more to finish in the room (little things). And he had to take out a wall in the adjoining hall linen closet. Now he needs to put shelves back in there. Next is finishing the hall area which we decided to paint, re-trim, etc. I love the loft. It is awesome! Tammy, thanks for missing me. I have just needed a break. A lot of stuff going on and I needed to stay away for a bit. Ria, glad you found the pattern. Yes, it is on Ravelry. Who are you on there? Or are you being secret over there.:001_smile: I am newly addicted to sock knitting.
  23. My dh has been working for the past 2 months to make a loft bed in a dead space behind a wall. This cleared the floor so we can have a double bed and not take up any floor space. He also redid all the woodwork, new doors, outlets, etc. We are moving the school room in there!!! I have shelving and such on order. The older shelving is being put in today so we can begin next week in the school room and take it out of the living room. Pictures are up on my blog for those interested.
