  1. :001_smile:Hi, :001_smile:I am a 18 year old who is in 12th grade and has LD. I had LD since age 7. Having LD makes me feel that I want to learn harder things like when I see my 12 and 14 year old brothers do algebra, It makes me want to learn that even though I know my mind couldn't take it. I am learning how to take the bus on my own, I am also learning how to deal with money and how a bank account works(since I have my own). What about your child? :auto: Chloe :auto:
  2. Hi, I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks and was helped immensely by a holistic therapist (who was a bit of a nut, but she knew her natural remedies). I take 1 tablespoon of Inositol powder and 5HTP at night. I found that only the brand, Designs for Health, was effective for me. It is quite expensive but worth it, because there are no side effects and it nearly cures all of my anxiety. I think it is still important to work on our thinking while taking supplements, as that is the root cause (I believe). I wish you all the best and please know that I truly feel your pain. Leisa
  3. nope Facebook has worked for me. I would say maybe it got blocked some how on your computer?
  4. My dd likes to go on facebook SO much! Her favorite application on facebook I would say would be sketch me!
  5. The Allowance Game is a great game for Math and The Body Game is a great game when learning about the human body.
  6. Having a check list of what to edit for is a good idea. Have the child use the check list to edit material first. Start with a short list of 2 or 3 items...spelling and capitalization. Then keep building on it as the child gets used to looking for those types of errors.
  7. I've been thinking a lot about this lately. I think that we have to pray for our country, specifically our leaders, that they would have wisdom and that the people of our country will humble themselves and pray and turn to God. If opportunity arises, like an email asking us to make a call to our senators about a specific law, it would be prudent of us to take action on this.
  8. cereal, granola bars, chips, cup of noodle soup, canned soup that doesn't need an opener (if you can microwave)
  9. There are no copyright laws against copying any book for your own personal purposes.
  10. Summer just seems a natural break for us. I think we feel refreshed in the fall and it gives me time to do some prep.
  11. Each child gets the same amount. They have to do what I ask them to do...that is the only requirement for allowance. They have set jobs, but need to be flexible. Don't overload, but expect obedience.
  12. Maybe, just keep your dd passionate about playing the piano and when she is older, she may pursue it more on her own.
  13. I have heard this often. I think we can hate things and what people do (sin), but not the people. Kids need to know why they shouldn't say the word hate at some point. But, when they are little, maybe just banning the word is enough.
  14. I love Videotext for Algebra, but I have also heard good things about Jacob. You may want to look at these 2 for Geometry.
