  1. Duplicate post - I'm sorry!
  2. In about a week and a half, we will be heading up to Sacramento (we live near San Diego) for about five days. I've been Googling like a mad-woman trying to find the "must-sees" that we can squeeze in while we are there. Please, share them if you have any! Also, if you know of any must-hit restaurants or hidden gems, please don't be afraid to share! I will be attending a conference for a couple of days (Thursday and Friday), and on Friday DH is taking DS to the Six Flags up there, but we would like to fit in what we can, in part to underscore our California history learning of the last year, and also to enjoy the difference in there versus here. Help me!
  3. Yes, actually, I would. I was surprised by how much we really enjoyed California Adventure during our most recent Disneyland trip. The remodel has been great. I'd have to check, but I think you would still be able to find the two parks, two days ticket (I see it all the time at our Albertson's) for $129 in mid-May. That might help with the cost.
  4. If you look at Redtricycle, it will tell you the free and low-cost festivals and things that are happening around near you when you'll be down here, which can be a lot of fun.
  5. Chrononauts! Everyone whom we've introduced to this game LOVES it! Also, games like Pandemic and the Resistance are popular, too.
  6. I bring things that people commonly contaminate with my allergen without thinking about it (It's easy to clean it up, but a lot of people don't realize what else they have contaminated with it, so we have to bring our own.), and I will offer to grocery shop to help offset the costs of our being there.
  7. Filed, and refunds (state and federal) have already been received.
  8. I have an eternity band set - both rings fit together as a set, and make a new ring. Prior to the ceremony I took off the engagement band and gave it to DH's best man, and then during the ceremony, both bands went back on the finger. The way the band looks, the engagement ring is now intertwined with the wedding band. ETA: Every woman I've known who has been married that wore rings has worn the rings with the wedding band inside, engagement outside, post-marriage. I was also told that I should wear my rings from my first marriage on the the ring finger of my right hand (It didn't really matter, as the rings from my first marriage were lost sometime during the first year after my first DH passed away.).
  9. No DDs, just DS, who is 9.5 now. He just moved into men's sizes - right now a 28x30 in pants (he needs a belt for the waist), or a size 18 or 20 (where we can find them) in pants. He wears a size 9.5 adult shoe. He's about 5'3.5", and about 100 lbs.
  10. I would doubt that story, too! As for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nickelodeon has recently (in the last year or two) launched another reboot of the series which has gotten quite popular, hence the new wave of interest. It seems like every few years or so, there's a new reboot of the series.
  11. I sing a song where the stuffed animal du jour (usually MIttens the kitten) tells me what needs to happen to go to bed. This song can be two verses or twelve, it depends on the night. This song gets sung for Ds, and my nieces. I also give "good dream zaps," before bed. I sing the 50 states song to get through shots and waiting rooms.
  12. I had pizza, salad, three kinds of pasta (mac and cheese was one!), bread, cupcakes, and just regular party goodies at my wedding reception. We didn't want formal food either. We were there to celebrate, and we aren't fancy people. It turned out really well!
  13. We have an artificial tree (I can't handle the mess or smell of a real tree in the house), pre-strung with clear, non-blinking lights. We use silver bead garlands heavily over the tree, and decorate with Disney ornaments. Each year, we each go out and choose a new ornament to add to our collection for the tree.
  14. Snowflake is perched on the end table, with a "tent" he made out of a box last night, a blanket and pillow, cookies, milk, and some crayons, coloring and admiring our tree. Yesterday, he'd gotten "stuck" in my china house chimney. Ds couldn't even fathom how he'd gotten in there or why, unless it was to try and smell the candle. (I have a lot of fun with this)
