  1. "It's a good thing I had Bulfinch in my locker," dd12 replied when I asked how she was feeling. I think the pepto for breakfast helped. --Still don't like that I sent her to school sick.

Karen, when did your dd go back to school? I hope she feels better soon.

I sent her in this morning, sick. I drove over to check on her at lunch and give her more pepto. She was feeling better then. She's better now and even hungry. She was out all last week with a sore throat and fever and doctor's orders to stay out of school. Homeschooling was so much easier.

Hmmph. No one has EVER said that to me. That's adorable!

Is not the pounce the proclamation of the tiger of his very being?

Nice. Kids went out to play for the first time in over a week - we've been battling a virus around here.

My Friday was busier than I bargained for, but it was nice and sunny. Now it almost time for some Dr. Who and a glass of wine.

Dr. Who and a glass of wine sound lovely. Enjoy!

  8. Apparently I shouldn't laugh when dd12 "stabs" herself while making a mini-crossbow. ;)

lol. She'll be more careful next time.

  9. At 11pm last night, I was sitting in my bed explaining gerunds to my 12yo dd. I'm really tempted to wake her up early to discuss grammar.

Attunement - can you look at things from someone else's perspective? Buoyancy - how well do you stay afloat in the face of rejection or trouble? Clarity - Can you solve problems as well as you can find them? I had a leadership class this morning. :)

Leadership class, now it all makes sense. At least more so, then when my dh was on the ABC committee at work. "Always Be Cheerful." Snort.

lol - that is funny. Although I am the designated "nice" person on my team. We got mildly reprimanded by our manager for being "snippy" with other teams. Now when we need someone to be nice - it is my job. At least I don't have to be cheerful, always.

  15. I found my treadmill. Apparently, if I stand on it and turn it on, I can take a walk in the comfort of my home and avoid the wind and cold. :)

Just curious, but how does one lose one's treadmill;-D

Well, I have 1171 computer servers to query then validate in addition to my normal Monday work and making crumpets with my girls. Oh - and I have to make dinner. I really need to quit getting distracted.

    3. swimmermom3

      swimmermom3

Now that makes sense. I was picturing 1171 entries like, "clean the cat box," "put away the holiday decorations." Since I have no idea about querying computer servers, it does not sound so bad:-P

It is just a really long list. I can do 100 things and feel accomplished for a minute before I peek at the rest of the list then get overwhelmed. If I do one per minute.....

  17. I probably shouldn't eat frosting with a spoon. My kids are sure that I'll make myself sick, again.

  18. I think I had a weird day. I've already explained medical marijuana and dunce caps. It's not even lunchtime yet.

My eldest had "douche" as a spelling word yesterday. We went through the full historical range of meanings because I didn't want to her misunderstand if she came across it in an older work. Much like the use of "ejaculate" in late 19th Century kids lit. :P

I got to explain spit balls. :)

  19. I was sitting on the couch with dd8 in my lap watching her knit while dd12 practiced a piece from Carmen on her cello. About 2 seconds after I noticed my moment was idyllic, older dd got frustrated and younger dd dropped a stitch and started to complain. Got to enjoy moments of peace while they last.

I guess that's why they call them "moments"! :P

  20. I'm drinking a warm cup of coffee. The kids are playing quietly. DH is grocery shopping. I'm afraid I might be asleep.

Lol. I just saw this. Before homeschooling, the former. After homeschooling, definitely the later. I have endured some gross things in the name of education.

  22. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

  23. me: "How was school?" dd12:"Frustrating, we had to go over genitive case AGAIN - that is two days in a row. How hard is it to understand? But we did learn how to diagram subordinate clauses!"

  24. mmm - dark chocolate gelato - it must be Friday
