  6. What exactly do you want to know? The are 2 hospitals and it is in close proximity to Akron Childrens, about 30 minutes. Everywhere has gangs, I don't think there are loads in canton. there are neighborhoods to avoid, just like anywhere else. Akrons crime is higher than canton's, but it is bigger. Canton misses the snowbelt. Akron is in the snowbelt. Hartville/Uniontown/Louisville may be more rural for you.
  7. I can't believe that I have missed 5 weeks! I know that my reading slows down, but 2 books in 5 weeks is slow for me, lol. I am also still reading Vanity Fair. I broke down and bought a copy because at this rate I just might not finish until the 2013 reading challenge. The 2 books that I read this week are: 34) Loving by Karen Kingsbury This was OK, not the ending I expected, but tolerable. 33) Watch Over Me by Christa Parrish This was a good read. I liked it alot and will read other stuff by her. It was messy, meaning loose ends weren't tied up because it resembled life and life can't always be wrapped with a happy ending. 32) The Core by Leigh Bortins 31) Breaking Intimidation by John Bevere This was a little charasmatic for my taste, but good. 30) Big Decisions Linda Byler 29) Mockingjay Collins 28) Catching Fire Collins 27) I walk in Dread the Diary of Deliverance Trembley A Dear America Book 26) A Hope For Hannah by Jerry Eicher 25) A Year of Living Biblically A.J. 8. I wish! Should we want to? Probably not. I think it is good for them to know what it feels like to be listened to. Should they drone on and on and on? I have 2 that do. I wish they wouldn't, but they are learning. I agree that they are taught to not interrupt, but they forget:confused: to practice it. talking over increases the intensity:tongue_smilie:, but sometimes is the only way to regain order.
  9. This is what I do. My seven year old just received lessons because of this. I also keep a minimum amount of clothes so that they have to be careful what they are wearing.
  10. Forgiveness, not a book just an act. more helpful than any book I have read and harder to do.
  11. garlic I started to feed my animals whole food diet and so far no fleas this year. I don't know why this would make a difference, but it has affected their behavior. I boraxed my carpet last year and it worked.
  12. Hi, everyone, I have learned 2 things doing this challenge. The first is I don't like the tones of some books. I prefer an author to take me on a journey with him/her. I think this can be done in the first person or third, I also think it can be done in fiction or non-fiction. I get annoyed at the undertone of my way is the only way. The other thing I have learned is that I stick to one genre comfortably. In keeping a tally of my books I see more of one type, I have been challenged to step out of my genre and read different books. I am having a lot of fun. I should be able to finish a couple this week. Happy Reading to you all this week. 32) The Core by Leigh Bortins I didn't care for the tone, but I enjoyed the information. 31) Breaking Intimidation by John Bevere This was a little charasmatic for my taste, but good. Jacobs 24) Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow on audio 23) A Dream For Hannah by Jerry Eicher. 22) Much Ado About Nothing Shakespeare on audio 21) A Love That Multiplies, Duggars on Audio 20) Ella Finds Love, Eicher 19) Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins 18) The Duggars 20 and counting by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar 17) Emotionally Healthy Spiritually by Peter Scazarro 16) Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider 15) The Survivor by Beth Wiseman (yet another amish book) 14) The Art of Mingling by Jeanne Martinet audio book 13) Growing up Amish by Beth Wiseman 12) Ella's Wish By Jerry Eicher 11) Growing up Amish by Ira Wagler 10) The Healing by Wanda Brunstetter 9) Christmas in Sugarcreek by Shelley Shepard Gray 8) The Dark Tide 7) Little Men, Louisa May Alcott on Audio 6) Winter of the Red Snow. 5) The Daniel Fast by Susan Gregory. 4) A Wedding Quilt for Ella by Jerry Eicher 3) Longing by Karen Kingsbury. 2) Little Women by Alcott 1) Midummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare
  13. I added 2 more this week and I might even get to finish The Core tonight. I hurt my back so I have taken such an inconvenient turn of events to read, read and read. ;) 31) Breaking Intimidation by John Bevere This was a little charasmatic for my taste, but good. 14. I have had a really good reading week. I will either continue the streak this week or I stall. On deck I have The Core about classical ed, The Help, and 2 AJ Jacobs books. I read Catching Fire yesterday morning and that was the first book in I don't know how long that I read in COMPLETE SILENCE. It was beautiful to not have to stop every couple of words and refind my place. :glare: 29) Mockingjay Collins 28) Catching Fire Collins 27) I walk in Dread the Diary of Deliverance Trembley A Dear America Book 26) A Hope For Hannah by Jerry Eicher 25) A Year of Living Biblically A.J. 15. If I knew then what I know now....I would have bought a trampoline when the kids was 17 months and could walk 3 miles without being tired. The trampoline will keep you from being tired, too.:D

  17. 25) A Year of Living Biblically A.J. Jacobs I loved this book. He had me laughing so hard. I am sad he didn't get into the new testament the way he went whole heartedly into the old testament. 24) Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow on audio 23) A Dream For Hannah by Jerry Eicher.
  18. Now THAT is practical application. I don't think that is oversimplifying. I heard somewhere if you can't teach something to a 5 year old, you can't teach it to anyone. I believe it was Andrew Pudewa.
  19. IYou could try 4 H. The commitment level is lower and for shorter time, usually. My oldest is in dog 4-h and we go weekly all year. Right now we are going 2x's a week because he is doing obedience. Our variety 4-H meets 1 x a month jan-may. 2 x's in june and july with judging in july and then the fair. The kids choose what they want to do and work independantly for the rest of the month. At the meetings they share what they learned. I prefer 4-H over scouts in many ways. The 4-H is mastery while scouts is spiral (this is an observation based more on my ds). More parents stay for the meetings. It is organized chaos--and there is a difference. At scouts it is so hard to reign the kids in while at 4H the kids have a pupose.
  20. I would still call. Even when there is not a coupon available, they will give free shipping on orders over 100.00. So, they may do something for you. The worst they can do is say no.
