Putting a face on the health care crisis: our life
mommybee replied to Joanne's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Well darn that sucks!! After I was sent to collections it was low enough that I paid it to get them off my back, but I didn't know it could affect your credit. Glad I paid it when I did. -
Putting a face on the health care crisis: our life
mommybee replied to Joanne's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I just wanted to agree with you on this one. The hospital agreed to monthly payments and when a year was up and I still had a balance they sent it to collections. I got daily harassing phone calls about it. I don't think it affects your credit report though. -
oh I'm fat and on weight watchers and hang around here way too often.....I'm just not a bloggy kind of person. Maybe by email??

That's not exactly true for a type 1. My son doesn't have to drastically reduce any foods because if he can calculate the insulin correctly he can cover the sugary food and not have high blood sugar. He eats a very healthy diet and is a very healthy kid. But eating sugary foods isn't the same with a type 1 as with type 2. Good luck OP with your health!!

A weeks worth of camp food suggestions
mommybee replied to mommybee's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Thanks for all the great food ideas! You just can't imagine how hard it is when you find something good and the label had "made in a factory with soy" makes package food nearly impossible to find. I guess one of my main problems is just over buying because I'm so worried he might run and be hungry. I feel like I'm preparing for an apocalypse everytime we shop for these trips. I just have to learn to not get more than is actually needed. -
A weeks worth of camp food suggestions

We do have a travel fridge that I will send along so hopefully there is a place to plug it in. We've been doing this for years so he is familiar with what works best. He's just a teen and needs a lot of food to manage the day so we will just have to stock him with lots of filling foods. He plans to heat up anything on his tiny backpacking stove so we won't rely on the kitchen at all. It's just too hard to be sure of cross contamination. Some people just don't get how serious it is. My husband will be there just in case as well. It's just tough......this same kid has an insulin pump so I just have so much to be worried about that I get a bit nervous. But he is 16 and he is the Senior Patrol Leader so I know he'll be fine. Just wish life were easier sometimes! -
A weeks worth of camp food suggestions
mommybee replied to mommybee's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Well it's tough because most kitchens use soybean oil to grease the grill so it's almost impossible to be safe eating out. That's why I didn't bother with discussing it too much with the camp cause I believe my son is the only one with this need in our troop. Or to this level anyway. We did get a food discount though. The paperwork mentions a possibility of room in the fridge but I can't ask them directly, I have to go through our troop coordinator. And it's just been a hassle. So hopefully when he arrives he can use some of their space for his perishables. -

Yeah I do. Although he didn't develop the soy until 7 years after the peanuts. -

Unfortunately they have included lots of soybeans and soybean items in their foods. -
A weeks worth of camp food suggestions

My oldest teen is heading out to Boy Scout camp and he has to bring his own food due to food allergies. He is allergic to peanuts and soy. The darn soy is the main reason to bring his own food. We are used to bringing his own meals everywhere we go but just have never done it for a full week without access to a grocery store to refill. Just looking for any tips and tricks you campers might have for long lasting foods. It's tent camping and I don't know if he'll have access to the camps refrigeration. Thanks :) -

Taxes-one big refund or bigger paycheck?

Yep! :iagree: That has been the biggest shock to me especially with how lousy CA is using my money! -
Taxes-one big refund or bigger paycheck?

Plus I don't see it so much as a refund as an overpayment. And we always had to pay off bills with it anyway so it never worked out to any vacation or buying something fun. -
Taxes-one big refund or bigger paycheck?
mommybee replied to lisamarie's topic in General Education Discussion Board
For a few years now we have just taken the bigger paycheck. I just save a bit of money to cover what we owe in a saving account and this way I get the interest all year on my money instead of the government. When I took over my mortgage escrow account I started the savings account. That's how I look at it anyway. It was nicer when savings rates were higher though. -
I let my curiosity get the better of me a few weeks ago and tried to watch it on Netflix. Ick!! Couldn't finish it and wish I hadn't bothered. It really left me with a yucky feeling!

I'm so excited! I actually ate well today!
mommybee replied to Shelly in IL's topic in General Education Discussion Board
That's exactly how I feel most days!! I just want the better me back, not what I've become. I've made it two weeks eating well and it's been so hard for me everyday, but I feel like I can do this and so can you! -
Just bought the Graco Turbo Booster on sale at Target. It will work just fine and I can't believe I waited so long to move him to a booster.

Request for Help-Food Allergy related
mommybee replied to kewb's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Seriously! My son is allergic to soy and it is just a pia to find snack foods. -
I just love how helpful this board is! I could never get as much info from my irl friends as i do here :)
-
Looks like I need to go to Target and check out the turbo booster. My son is definetely responsible in the car so that should make a booster a good choice. Thanks for all the suggestions!
-
K thanks! I am just nervous to not use a five point harness.

I have a small 7 year old and in my car I already have the Sunshine kids convertible car seat which I love and it works great for him. I need to get another one for my husbands car but I just can't afford to buy another Radion so I was checking out this one: The First Years Compass B530 Ultra Adjustable Folding Booster Anyone use this one? I saw the Clek Olli's but my car doesn't have the latch system and so I didn't know how convenient that would be for carpooling. Although my husbands car does. My son is going with my husband and another family to a sleep over for scouts and I am not looking forward to removing my Radion and that's why I was checking out other options.

That's interesting! I absolutely love my ING accounts. Maybe it's just different now, but I have had great luck with it.
