  1. That's a great idea! I always poke myself with the pin and never can keep the patch straight anyway.
  2. Me too! My least favorite day of the year is when the boys outgrow a shirt and I have to start all over. I hate the numbers most of all!!
  3. I agree that you will need a few different colors because every patch really is different. I had really good luck this last time buying thread that was meant for embroidery. Actually I sent my husband out for a quick run and that's what he bought. It worked beautifully in my sewing machine, the cotton always sticks for me and this thread was smoother.
  4. I believe you need your spleen to help fight infection, without you are more at risk from things like this.
  5. Thanks Jean, that's good to know. This high school stuff sure did sneak up on me fast:)
  6. I'll have to check out SOS. I was recently looking at BJU spanish 1, but again these programs are so expensive. I've never used any BJU products so not sure if it's something I would like or not. I do have the benefit of having spanish speaking in my family, although I suck at it, but I have the correct pronunciations down pretty well, so I'm not really worried about handling it I just hoped for a good complete program.
  7. Thanks everyone for your help. I guess maybe I look into some correspondence courses or something. I know some spanish and I want him to be familiar with it before he gets out of high school. I'm not ready for him to hit CC just yet. We have discussed going in his junior year though, so maybe then.
  8. I can't figure out what is the best direction for the study of Spanish for my 9th grader. Rosetta stone is way out of my budget right now and WTM doesn't really have that many recommendations. I thought when the time came this would be easy since I have seen so many Latin homeschool courses. Any suggestions?
  9. Same here. The paycheck just comes at the normal time we always get it.
  10. My DH is on salary. He earns a certain amount of hours of vacation and then just gets paid his regular amount when he takes the time off. Nothing paid in advance.
  11. The zoo looks like a worthwhile one. I'll have to check out the Discovery Museum. We've only been once and I can't remember if it was one we liked.
  12. Yeah, that's the one I just bought. I think it will be worth it for a year. I am thinking maybe the Sacramento Zoo as well because it does say you can get into some other zoo's and aquariums for 50% off, so that might be worth it as well. I need to look into the science museums though. We've just hit a rut and haven't done any good field trips in so long, I'm trying to get us out and about again and having some fun. Disney out of the question.....too much money for motels and gas to actually use it at this point.....but I would love it someday!!
  13. Hope you feel better soon! Microwaves....I once reheated a bowl of refried beans and the minute I stuck my spoon into it, it exploded all over me as well. I had terrible burns from where it stuck to my arm and I couldn't get it off fast enough. So I can imagine how your feeling. It was just shocking!! I am definitely more cautious now :)
  14. I am trying to figure out if their is a pass that includes more than one location. Like a museum pass that would include more than one of my local museums but I can't find any. I did see our local zoo pass would be good for 50% off of a few other zoo's and aquariums which would be really cool and I think I will get that one.
  15. Tell me what kind of passes you have found to be worthwhile for CA. I live in Northern CA and just recently forked over the money for a State Parks Annual parking pass because I would like to try and go to the lake more this summer and at 8 bucks a day that will really add up. Any other good ones that are worth it? Just looking to have a year where the kids and I get out like we used to and visit some fun field trip type places. TIA :)
  16. Yowza! sounds so scary to me. He did mention eating foods high in iron (although I hate molasses so I'll have to find some other things) and I already started the supplements. I'll keep in mind when I see him what you said about the tests. He did give me another blood slip for two months from now and I plan on having blood taken every six months from now on because I have cholesterol and thyroid issues so better safe than sorry. I can't have any citrus fruits or any veggies with high Vit C. For some reason the acidity of it messes with my eczema.....really bums me out because I so love all of those things. Thanks Strider:) Oh and it looks like he's got me taking 325 mg 2x a day.
  17. Yeah, that's what made me so nervous. But he did have me get another blood test so I'm sure he's just starting me on iron until he knows what's wrong with me. Thanks for the help.
  18. Thanks for sharing with me. I have been so low on energy and unable to exercise at all, but I just thought I was out of shape. I'm happy to know what it is, it just scared me a little.
  19. Had some blood work done last week, went to the dr today to discuss it and found out I'm severely anemic. He seemed pretty concerned about it. I've never been anemic, anything I should know? He started me on iron and had me take blood again just to see exactly how low I am.
  20. That's what I was thinking....I hate TMZ, but they are always right there in the mix of things.
  21. We just ate soup as well. But as Kate said it's cheap and for me it's easy. Throw it all in a pot and it's good. I would add Thyme and Oregano and I usually add a bit of cayenne to all my soups.
  22. I think the problem is that working on a marriage is super hard (going through this right now) and if you can afford to take care of yourself I think it seems easier to just quit. I don't think you should quit, I just know that if I could have taken care of us financially I would have left already. I really would have....it would have solved my need to deal with the pain, even though the long term would have sucked! Instead I was kind of stuck, but it's turned out to be a blessing and incentive for us to go to counseling and finally work on things. That's just how I see their situation......
  23. The librarian and an asst. did go talk to him and let him know he couldn't do that, but they don't make them leave and he was on his own computer. The policy is something like "we don't allow porn, but we won't specifically make any one stop" If they are on one of the public computers they are asked to move to a less visible one. But strange to me the policy isn't to tell them to stop or to leave. They do get their name and information from the public computers but I think that's just so the librarian's can keep an eye on them the next time they come in. I don't think our librarians want it to be like this and they do try and keep an eye on things, but it's hard when by the time you get to the person the screen is usually clear and so there is only so much they can do. For some reason our Board of Directors won't put on filters and the kids section only has one internet computer so most of the older kids are in the adult section.
  24. I'm not stating it as a fact, I was just saying what I thought she might have meant by heightened risk. As for me, don't know if there is any evidence and don't care much. I found it highly disturbing to be viewing a very nasty sexual situation with another man at 6:00 in the evening. It's creepy! He made me a part of his actions. He didn't care if anyone saw what he was doing as he was right out in the middle of the library and could have sat in many other spots and been more private.
