  1. I think that it would be an entirely different curriculum without the HIG. I really love them!
  2. Thank you! I didn't see it on the MUS website.
  3. Hello all:) I need some advice from those of you who use or have used MUS. This has been our first year homeschooling, my youngest dd is 6 and would have been in first grade this year if in PS. She has just finished 1A in SM and has been doing the intensive problems book and word problems book along with it. She grasps the concepts very quickly and seems to be very mathmatically inclined (very unlike me and my older dd, but very much like dh:) She has most of her addition facts mastered now. I am wanting to add in some MUS to spice things up a bit. So i have a few questions...What level should I start her in? What age is Primer usually used for? My oldest dd is 10 and would be in fourth grade this year but really struggles with math and forgets math facts very quickly. I had to start her in 2A this year to get her caught up and fill in many gaps. Some of it she already knew of plenty of it she didn't. She also has been doing the extra workbooks that my younger dd has been doing in SM. Where would you start her? TIA!
  4. Hi I just had a question about WWE. I have a 4th grader that I'm thinking about starting WWE with and was wondering what the main differences are between WWE 3 and 4? Thanks
  5. We have used Starfall ,ETC and reading eggs. My kids love reading eggs. I didnt like the looks of it until I sat down and watched them work through it and now I think it is priceless. My kids get so much extra phonics and reading practice from it! They even have something new thing called eggspress that is geared to kids that can actually read books and my 4th grader eats it up! Good luck deciding:)
  6. We just use the workbook and the HIG, works out just fine:)
  7. Thanks! I love your avatar, I completely relate:tongue_smilie:
  8. Do you require your child to complete certain activities on the website during the week (crossword, put list in alphabetical order...)? How long do you have them spend on it a day? Have you noticed an improvement in their spelling since using it?
  9. Thanks for the input! I guess I'll give it a go with the WW words and we'll see:)
  10. Thanks it is getting clearer, clear as mud lol:tongue_smilie: Just kidding I do appreciate every bodies help here, especially with this being our first year. I still feel like I'm wading through to find what is best for us. KWIM? Chepyl I just saw that we are both in OK! How are you liking it? I see in your siggy that you are using varied curriculum so I'm guessing there is not specific "CC" curriculum you use. It's JUST memory work? Is it a lot to fit in alongside everyday work?
  11. I keep seeing CC here and I went to the website but am still unsure?
  12. Has anybody done this with WW or any other vocab program? How did it work out for you? What do you think? Good or bad idea? TIA
  13. My fourth grade dd does R&S independently. We both are very happy with it. I had 1st grade dd do GWG this year and we won't be going back to it.
  14. Thanks ladies for your help! I am needing a program for my first grader and also for my fourth grader who needs help with her cursive. I'm glad to know that you can use HWOT without all the extras. I haven't even considered that program because I thought I "had" to use them. I'm going to give it a second look now. I do like the looks of the R&S too.
  15. TOG- I just couldnt get us into a rhythm and felt like it was so disjointed and teacher/planning intensive. MCT grammar island- my dc Hated this! I was not a big fan of the story book style either. While I think Elemental science is a great program, it was just not working for us. I was having a hard time making it fit for both my 6 yr old dd and 10 yr old dd. Also, my children were bored stiff from the encyclopedia type readings:( We have now gone to Apologia. We are planning on doing a book a semester. So far I think it is going to work great for us. This is our first year so I was expecting a lot of tweaking. We are loving our R&S english and our Singapore math though:)
  16. a handwriting /penmanship curriculum, please! What are your favorites and why ....do please tell. TIA:bigear:
  17. For my 6 yr old the only thing she does independently is Reading Eggs on the internet. She could do math independently but needs someone there to keep her on track and of course when it is introducing something new. My 10 yr old does math, english, vocab and bible independently most of the time with an occasional question here and there.
  18. We are doing Apologias A&P and was wondering if anybody knows of any fun games, diagrams or videos that are free on the internet that would go well with it???
  19. Oh wait here is a schedule http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/sotwmoh.htm
  20. I know I have seen posts on MOH and SOTW working very well together and there is a schedule floating around somewhere that puts them together. I have no idea where I saw it though. We have been doing MOH and TOG but am dropping TOG and have been considering picking up SOTW in its place. Wish I was more help.
