  1. then what do you love for history, science and reading? My daughter and I both really enjoy using R&S English and SM but are having a hard time finding a good fit for other subjects. I thought maybe some of you liking the same programs could share your favorites for the subjects we are not loving our cirriculum choices in:) I really appreciate your suggesions:)
  2. Thanks for the suggestions! It is a co-ed group, guess that might have helped to mention that in the original post.
  3. Hi! I am needing some help thinking of some ideas for preteen 10-13 yr old get togethers. Games, activities.......anything you can think of I'd love to know! TIA
  4. I know TOG has planning pages in the curriculum but I cant seem to find them. Will someone please direct me to them or others that I can print. TIA!
  5. We kind of inherited a set of books called The Bible Story by Arthur S. Maxwell and they are wonderful!:001_smile:
  6. This is our first year homeschooling and we are LOVING our R&S grammar, Singapore math and RS games!
  7. We Love them! 4th grade dd, first grade dd, ds 3 and mama too:D
  8. Om my goodness thanks for sharing this game is perfect!
  9. Thanks so much! Everybody has been so helpful:) and I have been reminded of why I chose TOG to begin with! The block schedule sounds like a great starting place I'm off to look at it all with a fresh perspective:tongue_smilie:Oh! and to join some yahoo groups;) You girls rock!!! Thanks again for all the encouragement!
  10. We just started homeschooling for our first year around 2 weeks ago. I have a 4th grader and a 1st grader. I have always struggled with math and was very worried about 1. choosing the right curriculum and 2. me teaching it affectively. We chose Singapore and are very very happy with that choice. Using the HIG I have found it very easy to teach and understand. My very non-mathy 4th grade dd as well as my mathy 1st grade dd have both grown leaps and bounds in understanding and skill in just this short while. We Love it!
  11. I was so, so excited about using TOG. I was more excited about diving into TOG with my children then any other curriculum that I had bought for our first year of hsing. I had printed off the sample pages and it seemed like it would be great for us. The books looked wonderful as did the activities. However as soon as we started trying to delve in I found it very hard use:( It just seems... disjointed somehow. I have no idea how I can smoothly form the big picture from the lessons and books for my children:confused: Does anybody have a UG plan they would like to share with me? I know I've read about the "tapestry fog" but I think that it may be a bigger problem then just being overwhelmed by it or not knowing where to start. Has anybody else had this same issue? Were you able to overcome it and if so how? If not what are you using now and do you like it? TIA
  12. Does anybody know the differences between the 1st and 2nd edition of mct Grammar Island series besides the recommendation of both the TM and SM in the later edition ? TIA!!!!
  13. What do think about ES biology for logic stage?
  14. She is actually an excellent speller and reads very, very well. I know that spelling rules did not have much(if any at all) emphasis placed on them in her ps. They were to basically just memorize a list of words. Do you think I should move her up in AAS regardless? Is there review of previous rules learned in the subsequent levels? Thank you all!!! It is always better to have second set of eyes look things over:lol:
  15. DD6 was in a half day kindergarten last year and had very very minimal exposure to math. This is actually one of the reasons we decided to hs, but if B reviews all of A then perhaps that would be better in the long run. Since our dds are the same age would yours like a pen pal perhaps:) DD10 Yes, I did give her a placement test and she had trouble with 2B soooo...I decided that it cant hurt her to have the extra review by starting at 2A. Poor dd is really not math minded and I think has failed to get a a strong grasp of the fundamentals before moving on in ps. Do you think I should supplement with something else? Oh, and I also thought that we could kind of accelerate the pace if it isn't too much for her?
  16. I think after much lurking/reading etc. I have settled on our curriculum choices:) Please let me know what you think...am I missing anything...have anything too redundant or just plain o' bad choices. Go ahead tear it up I need some exerienced hs opinions;) DD 9 almost 10 4th grade *Singapore 2A (this is new to her thought we would back track a little) *R&S English 4 *Write Source 4 wk book & skills book *Rosetta Stone hs Latin DD 6 first grade *Right Start A & I also bought singapore 1A *Write Source 1 & skills book *GWG *ETC TOGETHER *TOG yr 1 both using UG books *RSO life *A Childs Geography bk1 *AAS level 1 *Meet the Masters *Artistic Pursuits
