  1. Thanks for your responses. I have questioned myself so much in using it but when my daughter did her CAT most of her LA scores were in the 13.? I was amazed! My oldest son has had some on going medical needs for the last 4 yrs with multiple surgeries and hospitalizations, and my husband had two surgeries this year. Plus I had to take my daughter to Mayo in Nov. By Christmas I was so glad I had made this change for them as most other years by Christmas I was ready to throw up my hands and quit.
  2. Hi, It has been a long time since I have posted. I homeschool my two youngest, now aged 13 and 14. A year ago Jan. I started using some ACE(Accelerated Christian Education) with my two and by last Jan I had them totally in it except for Math. I have to say, I fought against this type of school for so many years but do to multiple health issues within my family I felt to give it a try. WE ARE LOVING IT! Just wondering if anyone else is a fan.
  3. WOW! It has been a while since I have been here and things have really changed. I went to post a bunch of books I have for sale and got a message that I would need to make a post first? I have made several, just not for a while. Hope this will get me through. LOL Blessings, Sandy
  4. Thanks, Cat. I had never noticed this before.
  5. I have been having a PM conversation with a person here and when I went to check it today to see if she had responded further there is a bold red BLOCK after her user name to the side. Why? Is this someone I don't want to be selling product to?
  6. I have been looking at this for some time and I am to where I am strongly considering purchasing it. Has anyone successfully used it with dyslexic(mild to moderate) children? Would you be willing to share your experience with it both good and bad? Blessings, Sandy
  7. Well, if I give info you have already gotten please forgive me. I don't have the time to read them all. Cleaning, I mainly use Bio Kleen products, white vinegar, H2O2, and baking soda. For laundry I use Country Save for the detergent, adding in 1/2 cup Baking soda and granulated H2O2 by Bio Kleen. Deodorant I mix organic coconut oil with non aluminum baking soda, and I use H2O2 for mouthwash and brushing my teeth. When you start it really is a chance of way of thinking. I haven't had bleach or any other harsh cleaner in my home now for well over 10 yrs. You can do it and it is much less expensive.
  8. I totally agree with this. If you wait for the feelings to line up......well, that may never happen. There have been times when I write it down. [ I forgive......... for .........] and keep it where I can get quick access if I need it. Most of the time I find that when I go through the actions of forgiving the feelings come quicker. One of the other things that I have learned is that just because you have forgiven someone does not mean you are obligated to put yourself in the same situation with that person. Example: A young woman who has been abused by her father, uncle etc. Just because she has forgiven that person of the things they did to her does not mean she is obliged to allow them to come to her apartment when she is along. I have learned that the faster I forgive the faster I begin to heal. The faster I forgive, the faster I can start moving ahead in life. I pray that you will be able to find the answers you need for you.
  9. That is interesting. Most complains on the double drawer is they don't hold as much nor big pots and pans. Do you do your cooking utensils in it?
  10. Hmmm, This is the longest we have had one. I use Ecover Dish tabs and really like them. Don't think I have ever used Amway dishwasher soap. Is it a fragrance free product?
  11. We love our labradoodles. They are such personable characters! Our blond was sitting in front of the tv a couple of mornings ago, starring at the screne, waiting for for someone to turn a dog show on. He love to watch! We also have a Bichpoo. He is a total love. Much smaller than the golden or labradoodle though. I would be sure to find out all you can on how the dog was treated before it came into the shelter. We have an Australian Shep. that was a rescue, from what we have put together since was probably a puppy mill momma. She is a sweet dog but is so very scared of small children. We have had her now 6 yrs and she still goes and hides when someone under that age of 3-4 come in our home. She has never been cross with them but avoids them at all cost. It took her a good year before she was really comfortable with our two youngest, at that time 6 and 7. We also at one time had a schnauzer that we think had been abused by the little boy in the home it came from. That dog HATED boys all the way from new born through 10-12 yrs old. A baby girl could be in our home and it loved her, a baby boy be brought in and the dog stood with its hair standing up on the back of its neck and would intermittently growl at the child. Weard!
  12. I hear about people that have dishwashers that are 8-10 years old and STILL working. Well, it has NEVER happened for me. It seems like no matter how much I spend my dishwasher starts to die at about 4 yrs and like now at almost 6 years old even my dh is voting we get a new one with some of our tax refund. I am at such a quandry as to what brand and model to get though. We have a Whirlpool for the last 3 and they are ok but this last one, if we hadn't gotten the extended warranty, it would have cost us a lot to keep up. At the time it was pretty much at the top of the line. I want one that is quiet, washes the dishes without me having to wash the dishes first and that doesn't run our power bill through the roof. We are a family of 5 but I cook pretty much everything from scratch so it is normally run twice a day and sometimes 3 times. I would like to know what kind you have, how long you have had it, what you like and don't like about it, and how much it cost. I have between $700-1000 budgeted for this. Wouldn't mind if it was less than the $700 though. Blessings,
  13. I voted other as my son, especially has struggled with reading/writing. I put reading and math first on the agenda and we go from there.
  14. Thanks, I will move my fs over to there.
  15. Can anyone explain that this is? I have this notification on the top part of the page instead of the tab to start new topic.
  16. Just so you all know, we struggled through till 12th. My oldest son ended back in the hospital on the 7th but my DH over saw their math on that next Monday and Tue. I had not gotten things pulled for Wed., fought a migraine all that previous night and was late getting to the hospital to be there when the Drs made rounds( Ds was being dismissed) so I then proclaimed that we were finished until the 7th of Jan. I can hardly believe it is almost 1/2 over and I still have so much I need to get done in these days off. Have a very blessed Christmas!
  17. Umm, not this year but sure have had in the past. The main one really stepped up to the plate this year though and made it much easier. It has not been unusual for there to be 19 people in my home for a holiday and all are sitting in the living room visiting while I get the dinner on and then clean up. I have done a lot of praying over it as I would be so exhausted at the end I could hardly stay on my feet. I am glad it has started to turn around.
  18. We have added a spinning plate to our schedule as this is the first day we are providing child care for our renters. He is a good little guy but only about 18 months so will definitely take some time and attention. Both kids are good with him and dh will be on board, hopefully so really hoping it won't be much of a disruption. Chucki, I will be thinking of you, your dh and your friend the end of this week. Pray all goes well.
  19. Yes, this is my plan. I do normally take Fridays off except for Math and sometimes Barton. The 14th we will take it totally off as it is my youngests 12th birthday. We have a really full week this week with added Dr. appointments and such. I think this is part of my stress. When I was doing my schedule for this week I was so tempted to not schedule in Science and History.
  20. We have the last week off. We have 3 more week and we will then have 3 wks off. I don't want to start up tomorrow. I want to get caught up on more things, get my gifts all wrapped and under the tree, take a couple of naps, finish the little bit of shopping I have to go and not have the pressure that comes with doing all of this plus school. I will be good, come to our school time enthusiastic and excited about what we are going to do in the next 3 weeks but............. I DON'T WANT TO! :glare:
  21. I totally agree. They featured an 18 yr old that can't read. I wonder how many ps 18 yr olds are in the same pair of shoes.
  22. One that isn't listed here is sorghum. You do need to watch though as if it is milled instead of purchasing the grain, it many times is processed in a facility that processed gluten products.
  23. This is very much how my middle son and his wife started to get to know each other. They both ended up working with the tween kids at church. They descovered that they both really enjoy kids, out doors, kids, snow, kids, LOL It took my ds about 4 months before he came to me and asked, "Mom, what do you think of .....?" It was another couple months and they became engaged, another couple of months and they married. They now have 7 children, all either adopted or they have gardianship of them. I am totally proud of them both. They have received children into their home that to say were hurting and very difficult is putting it mild and have embraced them all into a fantastic family.
  24. We got our tree set up and the kids decorated it. Looks Great! Far cry from the first time they decorated our tree. LOL Sorry, we did NOT put up our tree three times. Not sure what I did to post this three times and can't figure out how to delete 2 of them so...... By the way I am tired enough to have put it up three times. LOL
