  1. I have been making all of my flash cards for R&S 1, 2 & 3 so far. I just make them as I go and it takes all of 5 minutes. For some reason we all prefer the homemade ones. My kids make them sometimes as well.
  2. I am using 1 and purchased the practice sheets--you really do not need them at all. I just finished 2 with m other child and didn't use any of the practice sheets for that either. We have now moved on to grade 3 and have the practice sheets for that as well and will not being using them...lol!
  3. Thanks everyone! I am glad I just came here before panicking :)
  4. Is it normal for a first grader to still confuse the lowercase letter b and d while reading? Thanks!
  5. We used the library for all of the FIAR books for volume 1. There were only 2 that had to be purchased and I found them used on amazon.
  6. I am in LU102 and think that you could probably get by without the manual but it is helpful to have it.
  7. I am using the yellow for 3rd grade. I love that everything is all in one book, it's laid out for me and easy to teach. I do not use the student text--I just do everything from the teachers guide. I'm always tempted to add on after reading reviews from others saing that it's too light. I am going to finish out the year as it is and then see if I need to supplement next year as I plan to stick with it. I almost forgot that I did add a cursive workbook.
  8. No, I don't believe that there is a 'perfect' curriculum out there. We use R & S math and love it because it is really easy to teach and it helps my children to memorize their math facts AND they do not complain when I pull it out :D
  9. We use Rod & Staff. I was surprised that it wasn't listed :)
  10. It wouldn't be a disservice at all. Most people use it a grade level behind and we do as well. :001_smile:
  11. We use R&S English a grade level behind. I let my dd know that it was advanced and most people use it one grade level behind and she was ok with it. I would definitely move bak to R&S 4.
  12. From one curriculum flip flopper to another....go for it and take the plunge you'll be glad that you did!!! Lord willing, we'll be sticking with HOD for the long haul. We LOVE it!! I felt like a junky with a serious problem....the only way that I was able to resist the temptation to flip flop around and pull out and put away, then pull out and put away different things, I had to get rid of everything I had in the house other than HOD stuff...lol! I am SO glad I did because it was driving me nuts.
  13. ...on these boards by someone just asking a simple question. I personally have not been attacked in anyway and am thinking about leaving the boards before I am. :glare: Just thinking out loud. I think most of us have to remember that there are a lot of new, stressed out homeschooling moms coming to the boards for help. The 'last' thing they need to see (read) are mom's going at it over curricula. It's really not that serious, is it? :001_huh:
  14. Exodus books always has great samples. http://www.exodusbooks.com/Samples/PHP/4202.pdf
  15. We have a couple of the Draw Write Now books and my kids just keep them with the rest of their arts books to play with and use whenever they want. It wasn't what I expected--nothing special.
