  1. Pjur Body Glide or Maximus. I'm very prone to UTIs and can NOT stand stickiness. Both of these work for that.
  2. During pregnancy, I like breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper. Dh hit some sort of mid-life thing where he would match up well to that while I'm in the "I just want a cookie and book and to never think about tea unless my drink is spiked" stage. This is partly due to relationship and things I won't talk about on here for fear it'll show up on some dumb NYTimes page. Hormonal wise I'd probably imbibe multiple times a day, but in reality...I want to read. It's weird how hormones and relationships change so much.
  3. Apparently some pro-vax people were misquoted as sounding anti-vax from MDC? IDK, just saw this: http://www.mothering.com/forum/443-i-m-not-vaccinating/1481642-you-re-being-trolled-publicly-called-out-fyi.html This is why I have a problem with cherry picking. Along with the rabid comments on the media I've seen about taking non-vax children away, suing them, and hoping their kids die. The internet trolls are busy lately or it's just more acceptable now to wish death to children, IDK.
  4. We were less than pleased with ours. Despite me taking several computer sci classes and being good at computers, we couldn't get the OI#@*Y thing to work. Maybe it was a dud, but I don't have the cash to buy another. :crying:
  5. Or snuggle with the cat. Or go on Pinterest. Or eat another brownie. :coolgleamA:
  6. My daughter got a Keurig 2.0, and I got a Verismo for Christmas. Dh won't give up his French Press. So in my small kitchen with limited counter space, we have three coffee stations. I couldn't return one coffee maker because my Mom would have guilted me forever. :p Sigh.
  7. There are strict rules, but they seem unevenly enforced (reprimanding one girl's avatar as having too short shorts-as if that's possible on cubes-and others wearing the same thing, for example), and even with a pretty nasty case of bullying I actually watched myself on the screen, the student remains to do the same to others. I understand wanting to give the students more chances, but it's negatively impacted many others.
  8. Not really? He is far better at math, physics, and chemistry than I am. But I have him beat in biology, literature, history, health, kids, and practical things like woodworking, installing toilets, and such. :D I do think it's important but I kinda wish there was a little more distance between us. I don't like feeling stupid and sometimes he makes me feel that way. ETA: I think this may be a good point of contention in our marriage. I'm an autodidact and dh is, well, ego-driven. I spent my childhood being told I was gifted but lazy and didn't try hard enough and it's a sensitive point for me. So innocuous comments about how easy something is that I'm trying to learn has driven a wedge between us. Does that make sense? I think that's more personality than intellect, though.
  9. We have had major problems with bullying and kids not following rules in the first choice. The teachers do deal with it, but it still has been a major problem for us. So after 5 classes, we are looking elsewhere, too.
  10. Same here. I have a commuter and my kids play with it, and I've dropped it dozens of times in the 1.5 years I've had it and the case has a crack, but my phone is spotless.
  11. Try this one. It says 42kb. I've tried a bunch of others. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/desireeb106/media/FullSizeRender-7%20copy_zpsxfsygmi2.jpg.html
  12. I will ask. We had a school eval done and it was somehow worse than useless. I think the old thread above outlines a few of the problems we had.
  13. Walking is fine immediately. Even after a c-section they encourage it. Be gentle. I'd wait 4-6 weeks before anything harder than child's pose or another mild yoga pose, though, but YMMV. I started too early into yoga postpartum last time and injured myself-those joint loosening hormones!!
  14. I agree. It will be a 2 day overnight evaluation and a follow up call with the results a month or so later. Unfortunately, my insurance is limited, so I'm not sure I *can* find anything else unless we move and get better insurance.
  15. Yes, she's a Suzuki violinist. I guess I'm just remembering back to the prices of a decade ago. Financial aid would be nice, too, but many places don't have scholarships or anything. And $500 is way too much for a sports camp she wouldn't even be interested in. ;) Girl Scout Camps and a Catholic Camp I'm ok with are about half of that for much more offered, but I'd like something more educational than adventurous, kwim?
  16. From the parents I've talked to, they've all been extremely frustrated with the DP available to us. So for now I'll take my chance with the NP with good reviews, unless we move. :) Ok, heard back from the nurse. The waiting list is over a year long! Oh my. So, more waiting. It's already been over 4 years of waiting, so what's another? :crying:
  17. Most of the ones I have found so far (residential) are between $7-15,000, and that's so far out of budget that I'd have more luck with the lottery. I did find a sports camp an hour away for one week. $500 for one week. But I'll check into it as a last resort. And many academic ones I am finding also request referrals, recommendations, and records from the schools, so I'm not sure if I'll find any friendly to homeschoolers.
  18. We are very rural and any camps are very far away and more for adventure. That's great, too, but I was hoping to find an educational type summer boarding school or camp for my 14 year old. It can be art, history, languages, really anything. More to give her an intensive learning experience away from home than anything. Preferably in the Midwest, South, or East of the USA, and affordable or with financial aid available? Money is tight but I'd like to do something for her. Does anyone know of anything like this?
  19. Oh, pleasure indeed. I want his voice in my head all the time.
  20. I'm listening to the audiobook of American Gods. (Re-read but it's been awhile) 1. Neil Gaiman's voice makes me whimper. 2. This passage makes me cry like a baby every time. No plot spoilers, but if you need to let out some pent up tears, or want to read something heart shattering and beautiful, read it. (note: curse word in the tumblr title)
  21. And Inna? You're so awesome. I got the Pratchett books. Thank you so so SO much, you made my month!
  22. Whew! That was a lot to catch up on. I'm out of likes and can't multiquote, so here goes. Amazing zentangles! I think I'll give that a go soon with my new Microns. I'm in a funk. But I finished Firefight by Sanderson. I loved it and can't wait for the next. I picked up Time's Echo by Rysa Walker and realized it's been a few months and I forgot some of the main plot points. :p My 14 yo is really into Tale of Two Cities and it's heartwarming. She keeps sending me links to literary t-shirts and other Tale of Two Cities themed gifts.
  23. According to the doctor and parents in the area, this is as good as I'll find. The NP wouldn't provide treatment, just a good diagnosis. We are very rural and there is a decided lack of services within 3+ hours of here.
  24. I think all of mine are shareable, so either way it seems most are probably able to be shared (legally is what I was referring to through the lending library). I did not know you could only share a book once, though.
