  1. Ha ha! I don't even know who is playing! I will be preparing for the week.
  2. I haven't seen that drama series, but I believe that you are asking why there are English words used? Following the Korean War and the American involvement, American English and american pop culture became hugely popular. American English is taught in schools from a very early age (probably 5 or so) and you will hear words everywhere. For example, the word "kiss" is used for romantic kisses, even though there is a korean word. I kind of wish it wasn't so, because I fear that the language is getting watered down, but this also shows the living nature of language.
  3. My I suggest an older series? It is called Coffee Prince and when it ran in Korea, it achieved 50% viewership. It is one of my favorites. This thread is so interesting. I am amazed at the popularity and reach of K-dramas these days. Growing up as a Korean American, it was kinda hokey to admit to watching them, but it's a whole different story now! If any of you have any questions about the cultural nuances of these dramas, feel free to ask me. :)
  4. I'll be going away for two weeks early next year and my parents will be watching the kids. Last time they watched them, the kids ended up watching 6-8 hours of tv a day. :glare: Now, don't get me wrong. I am so grateful that my parents are so eager and willing to help me, but I wanted to provide some more structure so that they will not be wasting their days away. Any ideas? Absolutely, I do not expect my mother to school my kids in anyway nor would it work. She is not a native English speaker and she is their doting grandma. If I instruct my kids to do so and so lessons a day, they will do it. Any suggestions? The older two are in 4th and 2nd grade. Thanks in advance.
  5. Ah.. that's right! I had forgotten that you can print out the tests and worksheets. I am hoping that is enough and maybe a few pictures of the optional projects. Thank you!
  6. Hi! I have a question for anyone who might have experience with portfolios and the VP self paced classes. How do you create samples for your child's portfolio and for the evaluator? Thanks for any advice!
  7. Pour over coffee. I switched and I love it. I use a melitta one and it costs about 3 dollars.
  8. Since you said that your husband's job was secure, I would sink the entire amount into the loan. It will be a tremendous relief once it is paid off. After it is paid off, I would work on getting liquid savings up to 8-12 months, but also put a small percentage towards the vacation money.
  9. I could have written your post 4 years ago! I too questioned the original plan of 4, but I went ahead and had her because I knew I would regret stopping at 3. She is such a blessing in spite of the "fog" and at times I thought I would lose my mind. I am more of the camp that says to tough it out and reap the blessings later. :) fwiw, I had 4 kids in 5 1/2 years.
  10. Well, I just wore this today and I am a mom of 4! It's a much better look than my vomit stained shirts and old sweatpants. It is a very cute and modest look as long as the jeans aren't so tight that they show panty lines.
  11. Hi, I was planning to look in to this program for my 4.5dd and I saw that there are some freebies for December. Even better! Hope someone else can benefit too! http://funnix.com/
  12. I would try it out because every church varies so much even in each denomination. Attending a church does not mean that you plan to become a member nor do you need to be a member to attend. Any church should be welcoming of anyone regardless of where that person stands spiritually. If you find that it isn't what you want, you can stop attending, right? Best wishes!
  13. I love, love, love Singapore! Everytime I go, there are increasing numbers of expats. It is very friendly to foreigners, but you need to be able to tolerate high humidity and high heat. Good luck!
  14. Thanks! I'll look into these suggestions.
  15. Hi! My dd4 has quickly worked through the pre-school R&S materials. They are great by the way! Can anyone suggest workbooks that would be as challenging? I like using this when I am working with the older ones. She loves to "do school" and can sit for a remarkable about of time.
  16. I totally feel your pain! :grouphug: I have 4 kids ages 8,6,4, and 2. What has helped me the most was to find a co-op and a homeschool Bible Study for myself as well as all of my children. My husband travels frequently and when he is at home, he is trying to relax and recover from stress. I agree with the PP that you may want to consider cutting way back on the toddler activities. I only do activities when at least 2-3 of my kids can participate at once. Also, I started using some hs materials that would be more independent.
  17. I usually potty train the poops first. If that hurdle is taken care of, the number1s are much easier. I just reinforce to the child that big kids poop in the potty and reward with chocolate chips. I did this with all 4. Number 4 was the easiest ( and earliest) because the older 4 created a potty cheer for her. She loved that.
  18. I am currently in this situation. I have been reading through Proverbs with my kids. I just skim a bit at the most awkward parts. However, I will read about 95% of the verses. I'm beginning to wonder if my kids are listening at all. They don't seem to be asking me what the verses mean. Also, we just read through the passages about David and Batheseba. I told them that David took Uriah's wife and treated her as his wife. They accepted this answer, but I am beginning to mentally prepare to teach my kids about the intimate parts of marriage and adultery.
  19. May I suggest a pediatric opthamologist? My daughter has been seeing one since she was a baby.
  20. We will be going to Disney World for 1 day during our October vacation. I just priced tickets for our family of 6. $510 plus tax. :001_huh: If I change it to 2 days it is $1,008 plus tax! Does anyone know of any discounts? Seriously, I can't even believe that!
  21. Flowers? It has only been 10 years for me, but I have already forgotten so much about wedding planning.
  22. What seems to work best for me is to use some kind of glossing/anti frizz serum. Also, it is best to wash hair and blow dry at night. Sleeping on straight hair works to really smooth a lot of the frizzies. HTH.
  23. I would have to disagree. My husband is from Singapore and went through the school system there. He is an engineer and uses math daily. I don't know anyone else who has a better grasp of math.
  24. The beaches along 195 take a 1 hour drive from Sesame Place (not including beach traffic. You could try the Please Touch Children's Museum. I've been to the Crayola Factory, but I really wasn't impressed. I don't think that it was worth the 1 1/4 hour drive from here. You may want to consider Dutch Wonderland. It is about 1 1/2 hours from here, but it is very family friendly. Have fun!
