  1. I'm from Atlanta, so when we lived in the Charlotte area the traffic was no biggie. I used to crochet in traffic when I worked. Atlanta traffic moves slower than a dead turtle.
  2. I had no idea it was a single poster either. I though it was an acronym used by several posters here. I talk with my hands. Well, I've gotten much better about it -- but I used to wave them all over the place when talking (and had no idea!) -- I'm sure that was ridiculously distracting!!!! :)
  3. I believe there are healthy alternatives for every craving. So if you want to give up sugar, find sweet alternatives that satisfy you. I for one love smoothies, raisins, yogurt with banana & kashi, even a bowl of cereal. :)
  4. Yes. I find it odd. Not an ideal playdate at all for me. I like to work on projects a lot & with a four year old here, I'd feel more obligated to babysit.
  5. I think it's acceptable anywhere. I really thought it was short for something like JAWM, so when I googled it, I just assumed it had to be something else. I'm not Catholic though, so I wasn't aware that was a common salutation and doesn't need to have any correlation to what follows. I'm just glad to know what it means now, lol. I always thought it was directly related to the post, so I felt out of the loop :)
  6. Thanks. That's what I read too. Just wasn't sure if it was correct. I was just making sure it wasn't short for something like JAWM :) Thanks!
  7. Google says, "to the greater glory of God" It seems like it would go in their siggy then though & not prior to the posts I see it attached too. I really don't care, it would just make it easier to read a post if I knew it was just a greeting or precursor of sorts.
  8. What does that mean??? I see it often here & have no idea. When I googled it, it says it means "to the greater glory of God". That doesn't make sense though. So just enlighten me -- thanks! :)
  9. Thanks for asking. I thought I was the only one not understanding that term :)
  10. That's a great idea. I for one would support that for sure!
  11. I've never heard of that. Depending on the circumstances surrounding a couple though, I would be happy to help friends wanting to adopt if I thought they would be great parents. I personally have no desire to adopt or foster, so giving money toward a family instead of a charity would be money well donated IMO
  12. I don't want to research it. I'm just shocked that I can still be shocked here, lol. I literally had to read it twice to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding it. Spanking your wife for her sins?? It almost sounds like weird adult fetishes, lol
  13. That was the weirdest thing I've ever read. lol I don't know anything about RC Sproul Jr, but his dad (I'm assuming) RC Sproul is a renowned 5 point Calvinist & I can't imagine him having anything to do with that.
  14. What about etsy?? That might be a good market for you too?? :)
  15. Fort Mill would be a great place to live actually (or it was when we moved a few years ago). My husband worked in Ballantyne & we lived in SC (right over the border--but not in Ft Mill). Charlotte has an amazing and really diverse homeschool community! I loved it there!! Our co-op was actually in Fort Mill. The laws for homeschooling in SC are a cinch. I think NC is easy too :)
  16. I do think oil pulling contributes to improved oral health. Definitely. I also believe cavities can be reversed, but not with oil pulling alone. There is a book Cure Tooth Decay (as mentioned on the website you linked). There are a lot of testimonies online about following it's advice and having great success. It basically focuses on diet (google Weston Price, Sally Fallon, etc. to see recommendation of diet). The author also has youtube videos. My understanding, it is called "oil pulling" because you literally are pulling bacteria out with the oil.
  17. My teeth are a lot whiter. My gums are looking so much healthier. :)
  18. Oh. If you are trying to improve your teeth - I suggest taking cod liver oil (I take Carlson's lemon) and if you can drink raw milk, do it. Cut all refined sugar out :)
  19. I thicken my sauces with corn starch. Would that work?
  20. I am actually doing it as I type! :) Yes, I do the full 20 minutes. I've been at it for only a few months now, but I've only ever missed one day. I often do it while looking at these forums or watching YouTube videos. Sometimes I clean or even shower, but I find playing on the internet to be easiest. Start with 10 minutes and build your time up. It isn't worth gagging over. :) It will get easier. I brush my teeth before and usually floss. In lieu of tooth paste I use a mixture of bentonite clay and baking soda, (lots of recipes for "tooth powder" out there). After I oil pull, I spit it in the trash can (to make sure my pipes never clog from it). Then I just run my tooth brush over once more (with nothing on it) and swish with water. I've noticed a substantial difference in my teeth and gums :)
  21. Charge a fee or assign "when" and/or "where" they volunteer. Unfortunately, signing an agreement with no accountability or enforcement won't work in most cases. People often do what they can simply get by with.
  22. My sister uses frankincense often as well. She swears by it! :)
