  1. What are y’all most excited about? Two or three years ago I discovered Adirondack blue potatoes at the farmer’s market. I’ve been hesitant to try them since the shipping dates are a little on the late side for us to plant potatoes (coming out of Maine). I decided to try them anyway and even if it gets hot and the harvest isn’t fantastic, maybe they’ll keep for us to use next year as seed potatoes. Thankfully it has been unseasonably cool here for may. We have one large bed and another smaller row in front of our asparagus bed (which is done here for the resin and the season already staked up.
  2. Amazon has always been so quick to resolve things but I rarely have issues and feel like I spend a bazillion dollars a year there. Can they see that when you call? 😂
  3. I love to garden and cook and eat the variety. Thankfully my youngest and DH do too. They’ll eat about anything. He’s the only one I’m worried about feeding now. Of my 4 kids, 3 are healthy eaters and eat a variety. The one with all the health issues? No clue where he got his palate. He loves to eat out and adores fast food like Taco Bell and McDonalds and gas station hot dogs. He never grew up eating those. My 14 year old has never had McDonalds in his life (or Taco Bell or kfc or any of those). A long while ago I chose to cook for us and if oldest ds wants something different he’ll hit a drive thru. He often does anyway. Younger DS and I have the same breakfast almost every morning. I go to the garden and pick a large bunch of Swiss chard and fresh herbs, I sautée some onions, then add the chopped chard, and then I add in 3-4 eggs (from our chickens) and scramble it all together. It’s actually really good and more veggie than egg. We will often have a small fruit smoothie made with blueberries we froze from our own garden (yay), a banana, a little vegan kefir for the probiotics, and some almond milk.
  4. Not at all. It’s more of a showy thing. Like “look at me eating this sugar, which I NEVER do”. even though she does lol.
  5. Get one of those shepherds hook things for hanging plants and put it right beside where the current basket is, on the ground but as close as possible. Then slowly move it a foot or two until it is safely out of reach.
  6. Birds put nests in my basket every single year. I always just water gently around the nest. It doesn't seem to disturb them. Just don't water so much that it floods the little nest.
  7. Everything is a tool of the libs, don't you know?? The day the twins were supposed to get vaccinated, I got 3 different reels on why vaccines are bad. And covid was never real, even though they each lost a parent to it. Go figure. I have no doubt that some people have seen improvements to their health with certain diets. I definitely think that all bodies are different. I don't have a problem with someone choosing such a diet. But you aren't going to get the health benefits if you eat all the meat plus the sugar plus the ice cream. That isn't how it works. And please, stop sending me YouTube links about it daily. 🤣 The other thing that bothers me is it is ALL they talk about. And my mom is so dramatic. She has been to my house so many times, eating something that is sweet and going on and on about how she doesn't eat sugar anymore, boy is she going to feel this!, she hasn't eaten sugar in soooo long. The things is, I heard the same spiel two days ago and a week ago and anytime we're together. She's eating more than she thinks she's eating and I'm just counting what she is eating in front of me lol
  8. If you are open to an online course then consider Lantern English. It is self paced and they have essay writing sent to her with weekly assignments and a teacher to give feedback. They also break it down into 8 week sessions so you can just try one session and don't have to commit to a whole year.
  9. I don't want to call it success yet but I'm hopeful. She's actually sitting in the room but out of sight and just talking to them every now then saying "it is ok, I'm right here". If they see her, they think they're getting picked up and it makes them very angry when that doesn't happen. She wanted to go in and reassure them often but that seems to just escalate it all.
  10. No, they don't eat potatoes. Potatoes are bad. It is just that my dad gives in for a few things he can't do without. So it is meat and sweet tea and loads of ice cream. Meat and potatoes would be far far healthier than that in my opinion.
  11. Beyond Burgers are pretty darn good. I don't like to eat processed faux meat so I rarely eat them but they are pretty good if you're really craving something burger-like.
  12. Thanks y'all. So true, I think parenting itself is something we go into with lots of ideals and have to adjust and readjust. I wasn't crazy about the CIO but she was determined since she'd tried everything else and it was the only card she had left to play. So I said nothing and tried to just be supportive of how hard it is emotionally. When I came in Wednesday and she was crying I offered to just come again for 12 hours a day and wear one and she said no, that she felt like it is was prohibiting them from truly good sleep in the long run. She said she would give it a week and if they were making no progress in that week then she'd have to change plans.
  13. Me too 😊 I prefer the variety too. I am allergic to beef but I eat other meat in small amounts. I focus on veggies and healthy grains and meat is a much smaller portion of my diet than the standard American way.
  14. It is horrible, especially for my dad who has already had a heart attack. It is driving me crazy.
  15. oh I know where … YouTube They are major conspiracy theorists who watch loads and loads of YouTube. I guess their new conspiracy is that vegetables were created to kill us 🤣
  16. If you have a decent blender, I don't think you need anything fancy except some way to strain it (a nut bag?).
  17. To save packaging and money, I'd love to figure out how to make these homemade... Vegan yogurt and/or vegan kefir Almond milk or some other sort of plant milk Does anyone make either of these homemade?
  18. Easy peasy, just move here 🤣
  19. This, this, this. The parents who run to other parents and make a big deal out of things are at risk for their kiddo just not sharing anymore. Unless the kid themself sees it as such a big deal that the parents needs to be involved, it isn't coming to resolution with them otherwise and you have the sharing kid's permission to get others involved, or if it is dangerous to someone.
  20. The one in the pink, she has a lot to say and will talk to almost anyone. The one in the white, she is very selective about who she has words for lol. They totally show an extrovert/introvert thing so far.
  21. Only occasionally is she waking one up. Not even a daily thing. They don’t sleep well enough on the daily for someone to be that sacked out.
  22. Do y’all want to see them both talking to me on Mother’s Day in their little shirts DSIL surprised DD with lol I will delete the pic soon.
